The Child and Family Guidance Center is a LA County Department of Mental Health (DMH) contractor that provides Specialized Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) services to children, transition age youth, and adults utilizing evidence-based treatment interventions (EBPs) that are consistent with LAC/DMH Mental Health services Act (MHSA).
The Center also provides families with access to a comprehensive continuum of services depending on the needs of the family ranging from once a week; time limited mental services (PEI) to intensive in-home services that are delivered several times a week with 24-7 availability for crises.
The Community Resource Services is a division dedicated to improving the quality of life for special needs children and their families by helping them to locate, access and effectively use essential community health and social services.

Child Development Centers are licensed childcare facilities, funded by the state, located on community college campuses. These facilities accept children 6 months to 13 years old. The program runs Monday through Friday. First priority is given to the children of students, staff, faculty and the community. The RAP’s State Licensed Preschool Program provides full day care for preschool children ages 2 years to 6 years of age. To qualify for their program the child must be 2 years of age and pott y trained (2 – 4 years old); the parent must be working or in school full time; and the family must be low income.
Hours of operation: 6:00 am and 6:00 pm. To apply, parents should contact the closest center to their home. There are never immediate openings, and the waiting list is generally very long. However, it is prioritized based on the family’s income and the number of family members in the home. It is recommended that parents put their name on the waitlist.

III) Transitional Kindergarten
UTK Location List
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is year one of a two- year Kindergarten program. Beginning in the 20222023 school year, selected schools will offer Universal Transitional Kindergarten Program (UTK) for children who will turn 5 between September 2nd and September 1st of the current school year. Other schools not listed will be able to offer Transitional Kindergarten for children who will turn 5 years old between September 2nd and February 2nd.
Transitional Kindergarten is available in all LAUSD elementary schools that offer a kindergarten program.
Hours: Full day with 6 hours daily program Monday through Friday.
Eligibility: 5 years old between September 2 and February 2 for the 2022-2023 school year.
Enrollment: Parents must complete a standard LAUSD elementar y enrollment packet
IV) Dual Language Early Learning Programs
The program is a split day model of 50% Spanish or Armenian and 50% English. The teachers maintain the target language following the 50/50 model and “switch” at half day. Parents are encouraged about the importance of developing the home language, using their strongest language with their children, actively engaging in supporting home language development through talking, storytelling, singing, asking questions and eliciting their child’s “voices” in the home language.
