A
few months ago, we laid Steve Hill's earthly tent to rest. It is fitting that his burial plot is near David Wilkerson and Leonard Ravenhill. These three men ran so closely together and were used so mightily in the past century. All three finished well! Steve was privileged to be part of two incredible moves of God in Argentina and Pensacola, but he always contended that the greatest move of God yet was before us, not behind us. Now his leg of the race is over. He has joined that crowd of witnesses and will see the next revival from heaven’s vantage point. This next leg of the race is ours. As I run, I am more stirred for revival now more than ever. I am believing for one more great outpouring of His Spirit in these last days. I trust I’m not alone. Some might say, "We don't need revival," or, "God will not bless America with another move of God while we continue our slide further and further away from Him.” (Trust me, I get the emails.) Friend, this is precisely why we need revival!
www.OzarksChristianVoice.com complacent sinner who was quite comfortable going to church for my religious experience on Sunday while I did as I pleased starting Monday. After graduating from high school in 1994, I made up my mind: I was done with church and through with God. I was on my way out of the church, just as the Spirit of the Lord was coming into the church. In March of 1996, I stopped running from God and ran to Him. I walked down to the altar of a church and finally surrendered. It was my Damascus Road experience. God finally got my attention. He spoke, I listened, and I've never been the same since! For the past 18 years, I've devoted my life to preaching the gospel—that's revival! Let me define it further.
Revival Is Rebirth The surest sign that revival is in your midst is the salvation of lost souls. It was revival when 3,000 were saved on the Day of Pentecost. It was revival when hundreds of thousands were saved during the First and Second Great Awakenings. It was revival when 150,000 walked down the aisles of Brownsville Assembly. Any time lost sons and daughters call on the name of the Lord and are reborn, that's revival!
Revival Is a Return

Lord, that's revival! I understand there are a lot of different thoughts on revival. Like so many words we use in Christianity, revival carries different definitions for different people. Some see it as a series of special meetings in a church. Others think it is an emotional outbreak devoid of true spirituality. Some have messaged me to inform me that the word revival is not in the Bible or that we shouldn’t seek it but rather seek God. We use the same word but mean different things. For me, revival means something special. Before revival touched my life, I was a backslidden, lukewarm, apathetic,
Religion has always been man’s attempt to come close to God, but revival is God coming close to man. Many have experienced the joy of salvation that comes with rebirth. Unfortunately, over time many allow that joy to fade. Often what begins in the spirit ends in the flesh. We don’t pray like we used to. We don’t share our faith like we used to. We don’t grieve over sin like we used to. We start to lean upon ourselves and no longer lean upon our Savior. Thankfully, the Lord keeps the doors open for those trapped in the prison of
religion to step out and return to Him.
Revival Is Repentance Without repentance, there can be no revival. Today many attempt to cheapen and redefine the meaning of repentance. They contend it has no place in the life of the believer except to simply change one's mind. Friend, Jesus began His ministry with one message: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” In His last address to the seven churches in Revelation, seven times He says, “Repent!” Let us not minor on something Jesus majored on! After commending the church at Ephesus for all the good things they were doing, Jesus rebukes them by saying, “I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first” (Rev. 2:4-5, NIV). He didn't say, "I need you to change your mind about your ways." He said, "I want you to change your ways! Come back to Me. Fall in love with Me once again." I assure you that revival entered the church at Ephesus the moment they heard His words and repented of their ways. If you are away from God or have sin in your life, I urge you to take heed of these grace-filled words. Repent! Turn away from your sin, and turn toward your Savior. When you do, that's revival!
Revival Is Refreshing I 'm writing this while I'm looking out the window at the fresh blossoms on the trees in my front yard. Spring is in the air. It's a welcome and refreshing sight after a long, cold winter. Everyone in my neighborhood seems to be happier now than they were a few weeks ago. Why? New life is refreshing. Peter called out to a crowd of onlookers in Acts 3:19, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” When we find ourselves stuck in the sickness of our sins or robbed of life from our religious ways, we can turn back to God and take a drink from the fount that never runs out. That's revival! Like spring, refreshing comes with excitement and exuberance. Yes, people get emotional. I, for one, do not know how one can be inwardly refreshed without it being outwardly expressed. I
Page 3 welcome it in the church. After all, we are God’s chosen, not His frozen!
Revival Is Restoration When families and relationships are restored, that's revival. When your identity in Christ is restored, that's revival. When things that have been lost or stolen are restored, that's revival. Jesus said that He came to seek and save that which was lost. He wasn’t just speaking about saving you from the fires of hell, but to the restoration as sons and daughters of God. For Jesus, the focus is not on where I come from but on where I'm going. He pulled you from the fire to set you on fire!
Revival Is Reformation True revival cannot be contained. Revival fills up the saints and spills out into the streets. It finds sinners in the highways and byways. It affects the atmosphere of communities and cultures. True revival brings reformation. That’s revival! A series of meetings in your church will do little to transform your city. But let the fires of true revival enter into your church house, and it won’t be long before it touches every house. Revival may start within an individual or church, but like a spark to a dry field, that fire cannot be contained; otherwise, it will not be sustained. God’s purpose for revival is the forgiveness of our sins and the healing of our land. Currently our sins are plenty, and they stand before us. Our land is sick and in need of healing. The answer is not going to be found in a person or a place but in a position. God gave His people a pattern for finding that position in 2 Chronicles 7:14. He said, "Humble yourself, pray, seek My face, and repent of your own wicked ways." I’ve experienced revival in my life, and I'm ready to experience it once again in our nation. Actress Patricia Heaton Speaks on Media’s Portrayal of ‘Christians As Bad Guys’ — and Shares a Surprising Fact About Hollywood by Billy Hallowell Editor’s Note: TheBlaze's Cori O'Connor contributed to this report. ctress Patricia Heaton isn’t your average Hollywood celebrity. An outspoken Christian and the star of ABC’s “The Middle” and the longrunning “Everybody Loves Raymond,” she’s been open about her faith — and told TheBlaze that, contrary to popular belief, she isn’t alone in Tinseltown. Heaton, who plays a pastor’s wife in the upcoming comedy “Mom’s Night Out,” said that there are actually a lot of Christians and “seekers” in Hollywood. “Most creative people have a deep spiritual well that they’re drawing from even if they don’t know it,” Heaton said during a sit-down interview with TheBlaze. “The arts are being creative — I mean, God is a creator, he creates constantly, and when you’re in a creative place like Hollywood, there’s a lot of opportunity to talk and share and find common ground.” Christian celebrities who keep quiet about their faith might do so because of the perceptions and stereotypes about what it means to be a Bible believer, Heaton said — a paradigm Christians can sometimes bring upon themselves. The “cheap” way that Christians are often portrayed in media, she believes, creates fear among some in Hollywood when it comes to opening up about their faith. “You know, my older sister is a Dominican nun, and nuns are always portrayed as weird, sexually repressed, old maids who are bitter. Listen, I went to Catholic school, there are a few of those, but the Dominican sisters that I know are lovely, lovely ladies,” she said. “So I think there has been this idea out there
and the media kind of runs with it, portrays Christians as bad guys.” As for living out one’s faith, Heaton, a self-described Catholic who attends a variety of Christian churches, said she believes actions truly matter. “If you’re on a set everyday with 12 people, they get to know you and see how you treat number one on the call sheet and number 49 on the call sheet and how you act,” Heaton said. “Whether you act entitled or whether you are kind and generous and compassionate, and also, do you show up on time? Do you know your lines? Are you professional? All of that stuff speaks volumes.” Heaton isn’t sure if she’s paid a professional price for her Christianity, because those who haven’t hired her would never admit if her faith was the reason why. But considering her Emmy Awardwinning performance as Debra Barone on “Everybody Loves Raymond” and her current role as Frankie Heck on “The Middle” — now in its fifth season — Heaton doesn’t seem to be too bogged down when it comes to success. I've owned several Christian bookstores in twenty-one years, in Arkansas, Missouri and Florida. My love for Christian bookstores began shortly after I was saved at Jimmy Swaggart's church in 1981. I was immediately delivered from a ten year alcohol addiction at the altar. I worked for the State of Louisiana downtown Baton Rouge and spent my lunch hour at a local Christian bookstore. Christian bookstores are a marketplace ministry and most owners feel it is a "calling" to serve the public and be a light in the world. My husband passed away in 2009 and a year later I met Jim

New Cancer Weapons:
Magnets, Lasers, 'Nanoballoons' By Nick Tate/ NewsMax Health
T
he brave new world of cancer treatment is beginning to sound a lot like science fiction. Medical scientists are rapidly developing new weapons against cancer that use lasers, magnets, and "nanoballoons" — tiny particles that cause tumor cells to selfdestruct — in ways that were barely imaginable even a decade ago. In perhaps the most exciting development, researchers with the University of Buffalo have perfected a new technique for precisely delivering chemotherapeutic drugs by encapsulating them in small balloonlike spheres that — when struck by a harmless laser — burst open and deliver high doses of medicine to kill tumors. Jonathan Lovell, a UB assistant professor of biomedical engineering who helped create the pioneering anticancer technology, tells Newsmax Health new developments in nanotechnology are the wave of the future in the war on cancer. "I think we're going to be seeing a lot more interest in 'smart' approaches to drug delivery in the next few years and beyond," he says. "Nanotechnology enables this type of approach since it wouldn't have been possible at all without having the unique nanoballoons that make it all work at the nanoscale." "Think of it this way," he says. "The nanoballoon is a submarine. The drug is the cargo. We use a laser to open the submarine door which releases the drug. We close the door by turning the laser off. We then retrieve the submarine as it circulates through the bloodstream." Lovell notes chemo drugs can destroy cancer cells, but are not always efficient at doing the job. The medicines are toxic and interact with blood, bone marrow, and other healthy bodily systems, diluting their cancer-killing capabilities and causing unwanted side effects. But by encapsulating the drugs in nanoballoons — toughly 1,000 times thinner than a

Once at the site of a tumor, the laser triggers the nanoballoons to pop open and release the drugs. When the laser is turned off, the spheres close, taking in proteins and molecules that might induce cancer growth, he explains. Doctors can then retrieve the nanoballoons by drawing blood or taking a biopsy. They could then provide a "chemical snapshot" of the tumor's environment, which otherwise is very difficult to assess, he notes.

Once inside the tumors, the tiny particles begin to rotate in a way that causes the cells to diet off, effectively stopping the cancer. Other researchers are experimenting with supermagnetic nanoparticles to treat cancer, but those efforts have focused on using the magnetic field to create heat to kills tumors, which can in turn cause inflammation that harms surrounding healthy tissues. But the Lund scientists — who are working in collaboration with physicists, chemists, engineers, and doctors from Sweden, Germany, and the U.S. — have pioneered a new method, in which the rotation of the magnetic nanoparticles can be controlled, so it only affects the tumor cells they have entered. "The clever thing about the technique is that we can target selected cells without harming surrounding tissue," says Erik Renström, who has helped lead the project. "There are many ways to kill cells, but this method is contained and remote-controlled." He adds that the new technique is primarily intended for cancer treatment, but it may also have potential for combatting autoimmune diseases such as Type 1 diabetes, in which the immune system attacks the body's own insulin production. The researchers, who have a patent pending for their technique with the rotating nanoparticles, said more work needs to be done before the approach can move from the laboratory to clinical trials on patients. But the early work is promising, they say, and such trials could be only a few years away.

CAM Announces Food Drops Branson, MO…Aside from maintaining Branson and Forsyth food pantry operations and a monthly mobile outreach to eastern Taney County, Christian Action Ministries also sponsors semi-truck load food drops as well. The food drops begin two years ago in the Forsyth area and expanded to Branson in 2013. Each food drop consists of approximately twenty pallets of food ordered from Ozarks Food Harvest, the regional food bank. CAM’s executive director Pat Davis has announced the food drop schedule for 2014. In Branson, the food drops will take place at the United Methodist Church parking lot on Highway 76 on June 17th, August 19th, and October 21st. The First Baptist Church on Highway 76 in Forsyth will be the site
for Forsyth food drops on June 19th, August 14th, and October 23rd. According to Davis, “Participants must register in advance for the food drops at our pantries in either Branson or Forsyth. These drops are over and above the normal distributions available to our clients, but we do require the advance registration to make sure the distribution is equitable for everyone. "She kept Hallmark in business," daughter-in-law Debbie Felumlee joked. When Kenneth retired in 1983 and the children began to leave the house, the Felumlees began to explore their love of travel, visiting almost all 50 states by bus. "He didn't want to fly anywhere because you couldn't see anything as you were going," Jim Felumlee said. Although both experienced declining health in recent years, Cody said, each tried to stay strong for the other. "That's what kept them going," she said

book to share with your birth partner, or to simply have on hand as a resource for management of labor contractions, as well as a wealth of information on medical interventions and procedures. Watch The Business of Being Born There are also a ton of fantastic resources on their site, plus a great clip of the documentary. Please take the time to check it out and look over the articles, recommendations and resources. Choose a birth center (or birth at home with a midwife). If you truly desire the natural childbirth experience (and you are a low risk pregnancy) yet, you aren’t ready for (or want) a home birth, opt for a birth center. You can tour the birth center in the same way in which you would tour a hospital. Meet the midwife(s), find out her credentials. Is she a CNM or a CPM? Does that matter to you? Does she carry Malpractice insurance? Does she have hospital privileges? How many babies has she caught? Ask what the center’s transfer rate is. Ask how many of those transfers were truly emergencies. Also, ask how many of those transfers ended up with Csections. Ask who their OB is. Birth centers are required, just like hospitals to keep track of their statistics. So, if they’re good, they’ll have good statistics. Are you worried about the safety of birth centers? Do your research. Birth centers are required to be within 30 minutes of a hospital. If you just can’t bring yourself to birth at a center or at home, and you choose a hospital, know this: if you buy the hospital ticket, you get the hospital ride. This is a bit tongue and cheek but if you want soy milk, don’t milk a cow. Why… why oh why… if you want a “home-like birth inside the hospital” aren’t you considering a home or birth center birth? If you choose to have a hospital birth, find out if there are any midwives that practice at hospitals in your area. Hire a doula, especially if you are birthing at a hospital and hope to have natural childbirth. Perhaps you plan on having an epidural or know you will be induced, but desire to avoid a C-section, most definitely, hire a doula. Doulas have been proven, over and over again, to increase your odds of a vaginal birth, help with pain management, keep you informed and aware, shorten labor and keep your labor goals within reach. DONA.org has a list
Page 17 of doulas in your area. Keep in mind, that most doulas are willing to barter, or work on a sliding scale and or reduced rate. There are also some that are willing to volunteer, especially if they’re completing their certification. Make sure your partner supports your decision for natural birth. This is so important. Your partner needs to understand why you’re choosing this and the benefits, that you are created to birth, that you are strong and able, and that achieving this goal is important to you. Take the time to inform your partner and anyone else that will be present at your birth why you are choosing natural birth. Have a good reason. I know many women who say they want natural childbirth because they simply don’t like needles and don’t want an epidural. But let me tell you, pain makes you brave, and that won’t be enough to keep you from taking the epidural plunge. You would do well to have a better reason than that. There are plenty of evidenced based studies that reveal the benefits of natural childbirth to mother and child. Just go ahead and go down that research rabbit hole, you’ll be amazed at what you’ll learn. Who knows, you might even become a birth activist! All the best in your journey! ecently, Dan Haseltine, front-man for the popular Christian band Jars of Clay, took to Twitter to announce his apparent support for same-sex “marriage.” And for the life of him, he can’t figure out a single good reason to oppose it. It is for reasons like this that we have been sounding the alarm these last 10 years. In a series of tweets posted over a three-day period, and prompted by a movie he watched while in flight, he wrote: “The treatment of people as less than human based on the color of skin is crazy... Or gender, or sexual orientation for that matter.”

It is the day of almost half of all firsttime American mothers having their babies out of wedlock, with cohabitation rates up more than 700% since 1960, and it is against this backdrop that talk of same-sex “marriage” has become prominent. Do we really want to accelerate the destruction of marriage? Dan also tweeted, “I'm trying to make sense of the conservative argument. But it doesn't hold up to basic scrutiny. Fourth, many of us have gay friends or relatives, and our positions are motivated by love. But what does having a gay friend or relative have to do with understanding God and his Word? I have dear friends who are very religious Jews, and they are some of the finest people I know, yet I still believe they are lost without Jesus. (And they, of course, see me as gravely deceived.)
Do we rewrite the Bible to accommodate our sentiments towards others, just because they are nice people? Fifth, as articulated in the books cited in the first point, above, there are many negative consequences to redefining marriage, including: The assault on the freedoms of conscience, speech, and religion of those who do not accept this redefinition; the establishing of households that guarantee that a child will have either no father or no mother; the transformation of children’s education to include the validation of all forms of “marriage”; the continued deconstruction of gender distinctions, leading to all kinds of societal confusion; and much, much more. It is for good reason that gay activists have long declared that if they can redefine marriage, the rest of their goals will inevitably be realized.
This really boggles the mind. When you’re sliding down a dangerous slippery slope, you don’t say, “Give me one good reason we’re in danger, other than the fact that we’re careening down this deadly slope.”

My YouTube debate on the subject is readily available, and there are fine books outlining the biblical definition of marriage and sexuality, including studies by Andreas Kostenberger and Richard M. Davison. Second, while there is strong biblical support for gender distinction, there is no support for the oppression of women, which is why the spread of Christianity around the world has had a liberating effect on women over the centuries. In stark contrast, the Bible condemns all forms of homoeroticism (as is recognized by many gay scholars as well), while every single example of God-blessed marriage or romance takes place between a man and a woman. I have an online lecture that addresses this issue, and I tackle the subject at length in my new book as well. There is simply no comparison between women’s rights and sanctioning homosexual practice. Third, the argument against same-sex “marriage” is based on the consistent testimony of Scripture, affirmed by Moses, Jesus, and Paul, and it is never contradicted a single time from Genesis to Revelation. Again, I demonstrate this in my new book, and other scholars, most notably Robert A.
In short, yes, redefining marriage declares a massive war on “traditional marriage” (better framed as “true marriage” or “natural marriage”) and yes, it leads to all kinds of societal breakdown. Put another way (and this is a question for you, Dan), Do you think that God’s order for marriage and family, established plainly in the Word and recognized by virtually all societies in history, can be thrown aside without consequences? Dan, you wrote, “Never liked the phrase: ‘Scripture clearly says...(blank) about... Because most people read and interpret scripture wrong.” Perhaps this is the root of your problem? Is the Bible not clear about anything? Sin? Salvation? Forgiveness? Jesus being the only Savior and Lord? Adultery being bad? Fidelity being good? Shall I list 100 more items that are abundantly clear in Scripture? But it appears you’re not really certain about many moral issues, based on your tweet that said, “I don't think scripture ‘clearly’ states much of anything regarding morality,” and, “I don't particularly care about Scriptures stance on what is ‘wrong.’ I care more about how it says we should treat people.” Did you really mean to write this? Is it possible to

In comments at a special Newsmax dinner in Rome ahead of last month’s canonization of Pope John Paul II and John XXIII on Sunday, Walesa paid tribute to the late Polish pontiff, saying he remains a "light for the future of the world." 8 Women Christian Men Should Never Marry by J. Lee Grady Men and women don't be impatient when choosing a helpmate. God has the right one for you. Have you prayerfully considered these characteristics when choosing a potential marriage partner? Last month my column “10 Men Christian Women Should Never Marry” went viral. More than 1.2 million people have shared that message so far—most likely because so many single men and women are seriously asking for guidelines on finding a compatible mate. In response I received numerous requests to share similar guidelines for men who are looking for wives. Since I am mentoring several young men right now and have seen a few of them marry successfully during the past few years, it wasn’t difficult to draft this list. These are the women I tell my spiritual sons to avoid:
1. The unbeliever. In last week’s column, I reminded women that the Bible is absolutely clear on this point: Christians should not marry unbelievers. Second Corinthians 6:14 says, “Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?” (NASB). Apart from your decision to follow Christ, marriage is the single most important decision you will ever make. Don’t blow it by ignoring the obvious. You need a wife who loves Jesus more than she loves you. Put spiritual maturity at the top of your list of qualities you want in a wife. 2. The material girl. One young friend of mine was engaged to a girl from a rich family. He saved up money for months to
www.OzarksChristianVoice.com buy a ring, but when he proposed she told him he needed to go back to the jewelry store to buy a bigger diamond. She pushed her fiance to go into debt for a ring that fit her expectations. She wanted a Tiffany’s lifestyle on his Wal-Mart budget. I warned my friend that he was stepping into serious trouble. Unless you want to live in debt for the rest of your life, do not marry a girl who has dollar signs in her eyes and eight credit cards in her Gucci purse.
3. The diva. Some macho guys like to throw their weight around and pretend they are superior to women. Divas are the female version of this nightmare. They think the world revolves around them, and they don’t think twice about hurting somebody else to prove their point. Their words are harsh and their finger-snapping demands are unreasonable. Some of these women might end up in leadership positions at church, but don’t be fooled by their superspiritual talk. Real leaders are humble. If you don’t see Christlike humility in the woman you are dating, back away from her and keep looking.
5. The contentious woman. A young man told me recently that he dated a girl who had serious resentment in her heart because of past hurts. “Before I would propose, I told my fiancee she had to deal with this,” he explained. “It would have been a deal-breaker, but there was a powerful breakthrough and now we are engaged.” This guy realized that unresolved bitterness can ruin a marriage. Proverbs 21:9 says, “It is better to live in a corner of a roof than in a house shared with a contentious woman.” If the woman you are dating is seething with anger and unforgiveness, your life together will be ruined by arguing, doorslamming and endless drama. Insist that she get prayer and counseling.
6. The controller. Marriage is a 50/50 partnership, and the only way it works is when both husband and wife practice mutual submission according to Ephesians 5:21. Just as some guys think they can run a marriage like a dictatorship, some women try to manipulate decisions to get their way. This is why premarital counseling is so important! You don’t want to wait until you’ve been married for two weeks to find out that your wife doesn’t trust you and wants to call all the shots.

8. The addict. So many people in the church today have not been properly discipled. Many still struggle with various types of addictions—to alcohol, illegal drugs, prescription medicines or pornography—either because we don’t confront these sins from the pulpit or we don’t offer enough compassionate support to strugglers. Jesus can completely set a person free from these habits, but you don’t want to wait until you’re married to find out your wife isn’t sober. You may still be called to be married, but it is not wise to tie the knot until your girlfriend faces her issues head-on. Your best rule to follow in choosing a wife is found in Proverbs 31:30: “Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.” Look past the outward qualities that the world says are important, and look at the heart. 7. The mama’s girl. It’s normal for a new wife to call her mom regularly for advice and support. It is not normal for her to talk to her mother five times a day about every detail of her marriage, including her sex life. That’s weird. Yet I have counseled guys whose wives

From Adversity To Advancement BY KEN BLOUNT
A
dversity is something that we all have to face. It’s a part of life. The only way that you can get out of the battles of life is to die, so you might as well learn how to deal with them and live a life pleasing to Jesus. The Bible tells us in John 10:10, “The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy…” Satan is the thief that this verse is talking about. All that kills, all that steals, and all that destroys is from the devil. It is not from God. The devil wants to steal the promises of God away from you and frustrate you until you lose your faith. Adversity is designed to get you to quit. But we don’t have to just take it. Any storm that comes into our lives is a storm that we can face and overcome with God’s power. In fact, if you let Him, God will use the storms the devil brings your way to advance you to new levels in life. But understand this: There are some storms that we allow into our lives through sin, disobedience, unforgiveness, speaking the wrong words, and fear. When we have any of these things in our lives and trials come our way, we shouldn’t be too surprised, because we left the door open. Sin gives satan the legal right to enter our lives. Sin gives demons a foothold to bring oppression our way. Jesus told the sick man, in John chapter 5, “Go and sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” How we live our lives is important. Jesus tied the possibility of something bad happening in this man’s future to how he lived his life. There’s so much teaching in the modern church today about how you can live just any old way and it will be fine with God. Friends, I’m here to tell you that there are consequences for sinning. So, the first step in dealing with adversity is a little self-examination. That’s something we should do every day. We need to be regularly looking at our lives and disciplining ourselves. We need to constantly be confessing our sins and allowing the blood of Jesus to wash them away so that satan can’t come against us with accusations.
www.OzarksChristianVoice.com The great thing is that when we confess our sins, the Bible says, “He is faithful to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness” (I John 1:9). God is so good that He will forgive us and even help us out of the troubles that we have brought upon ourselves. But not all trials, storms, and adversity are brought on by our own sin. Sometimes, right before some of your greatest victories in life, you’ll face some of your biggest trials. Why? Because Satan can sense when something big is on the horizon for you, so he swoops in with a storm to try to throw you off and get you to give up on your blessings or promotions. It’s simple. If you’re a threat to Satan, he’s going to come against you and try to stop you. But if you never see adversity or opposition in your life maybe you and
the enemy are going in the same direction. If you are living a godly life and following Jesus with all your heart, then adversity should be some type of an alarm clock to let you know that you are really close to getting a blessing or a promotion. But you’ll never take hold of it, if you quit in the middle of trouble. Don’t quit when it gets hard. The devil is trying to stop your success. This is the time when the character built into you by the Word of God should make you rise up and refuse to be beaten. “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you.” (I Peter 4:12-14) Adversity is just an opportunity for you to show what you’ve got! and show that you’re more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus! When a test comes, take that test and ace it. No Christian is excused from the day of adversity. You will have to face it at some point in life, so study up now and take that test to pass it. People who faint in the day of adversity will usually face more adversity. When the devil sees that you couldn’t pass his last test, he’ll keep throwing them at you again and again. The devil doesn’t play nice. He doesn’t show mercy. He doesn’t ease off. He wants to kill, steal and destroy you and he will keep coming at you until you fight back. The good news is that when you pass the test, you’re ready for promotion! So here are three simple things you can do to pass the tests of life: 1) Study the Word and speak it. If you have the Word down deep inside you, when you need it, it will come out. You have to study and speak the Word in good times and in times of trials. It is your fire hydrant. Don’t fan the flames with negative words. Speak what God says. Remind yourself of God’s promises, and put out the fiery trials of the enemy. 2) Be glad and rejoice in the midst of adversity. Psalm 31:7 says, “I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy and steadfast love, because You have seen my affliction, You have taken note of my life’s distresses.” Rejoicing in the Lord will activate your faith and kill the fear that satan uses to
fuel adversity against you. With no fuel, the fires will soon burn out. 3) Surround yourself with the right kind of people. Psalm 35:15 tells us, “But in my stumbling and limping they rejoiced and gathered together [against me]; the smiters (slanderers and revilers) gathered against me, and I knew them not; they ceased not to slander and revile me.” Don’t hang around with people who will throw a pity party for you. You need friends who will preach the Word to you in times of trouble and stir you up to press on in faith. Praise God, you can stir yourself up and face adversity. Tell yourself that you will not be defeated in the day of adversity! Then you can tell the devil that he might as well go somewhere else, because the only thing that adversity is going to do to you is sharpen you. When you don’t feel like praising God but you do it anyway, you get stronger and sharper. Walk over your enemy and get your victory. So remember: People are like teabags. When you put them in hot water, they either grow stronger and get more flavor, or they tear and break, messily spilling their contents adrift.

Atheists Fail to Squash Prayer at Public Meetings in Supreme Court Loss by LAWRENCE HURLEY/REUTERS The U.S. Supreme Court on May 5th, 2014 upheld the right of government entities across the United States to allow sectarian prayers prior to public meetings. The court said on a 5-4 vote that the town of Greece in New York state did not violate the U.S. Constitution's ban on government endorsement of religion by allowing prayers before its monthly meetings. In a decision that is likely to guide how local governments throughout the United States handle the question, the court said that officials in Greece did not violate the law when picking prayer-givers, who were overwhelmingly Christian. Even the plaintiffs challenging the practice in the Rochester, New York, suburb of 100,000 people, conceded that
some types of nonsectarian prayers were permitted under the Constitution. The difficulty facing the justices was how to decide how courts should consider when a prayer could violate the First Amendment, which requires the separation of church and state. The court was divided along ideological lines, with the conservative wing of the court saying the prayers were acceptable, while the liberal justices said

the practice violated the First Amendment. Justice Anthony Kennedy, the court's swing vote, wrote the majority opinion, saying the town's prayers were consistent with the high court's 1983 precedent in a case called Marsh v. Chambers. Although the policy in the town of Greece does not embrace a particular religion, in practice all members of the public who gave a prayer were Christians until some residents filed suit in 2008. Kennedy wrote that public prayers need not be nonsectarian. "To hold that invocations must be nonsectarian would force the legislatures that sponsor prayers and the courts that are asked to decide these cases to act as supervisors and censors of religious speech," Kennedy wrote. Residents Susan Galloway, who is Jewish, and Linda Stephens, an atheist,

The court ruled that the content of the prayers did not constitute coercion, although the majority was divided on the legal rationale on that point. Kennedy wrote that "offense ... does not equate to coercion." The Alliance Defending Freedom, a conservative legal group that represented the town, welcomed the ruling. "The Supreme Court has again affirmed that Americans are free to pray," said David Cortman, one of the organization's lawyers. The case reached the high court after the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York ruled against the town in May 2012. What is Shavuot/Pentecost? Shavuot, which means "weeks" is one of the most important feasts in the entire Jewish calendar. Traditionally, it is called "the festival without a date." Once, when it was calculated from the New Moon, it would fall upon a different date each year from Sivan 5-7. During the period of Jewish Diaspora, however its date was fixed at Sivan 6. Today, the Jews remember it as the day the Lord gave the Torah at Mt. Sinai. This year Shavuot begins the evening of June 3rd. Originally, it marked the end of the grain harvest, which began with the sheaf of Firstfruits (barley) and proceeded through the count of fifty days. Later, it came to be associated with the giving of the Torah. Jewish rabbis teach that Moses received the Law on this date, that Noah received His covenant from the Lord on this date, and that even Abraham received his
Page 25 covenant on the date. The Holy Spirit empowered the church on this date (Acts 2). Therefore, the obvious inference is that this festival represents major changes in God's prophetic program. It seems to mark the change from one dispensation to another. Jewish people also commemorate the Ketubah, or marriage contract between Israel and the Lord that took place at Sinai. Believers remember that Pentecost also acts as a marriage contract between Messiah and the church. Jews read the Book of Ruth on this date, and memorialize King David, who was said to have been born and also to have died on this date. Today, Jewish people stay up all night to "decorate the bride." They read, study, and pray in the belief that at some time during the night, the heavens will open for a brief moment and prayers will be answered. srael said recently it was stepping up efforts to encourage military enlistment by Christian Arab citizens, a community long closer to the larger Muslim minority in identifying with the Palestinians. Israel's Christian Arabs number about 160,000, some two percent of the Jewish state's eight million people, and the expected number of conscripts - now about 100 will rise in coming months, a senior military officer said. "We intend to appeal to the Christian population of conscription age (17 and 18) and will send them call-up notices to volunteer for service,"
Lieutenant-Colonel Amir Hai told reporters in a telephone briefing on Tuesday. Being mostly Palestinians themselves, Israel's Christian Arabs have traditionally stood alongside the Muslim community on Israeli-Palestinian issues. The Muslim minority comprises about 20 percent of the population and men of conscription age are largely exempted from military service. Hai said that all branches of the military, including elite units, would be open for the volunteers as long as they are suitable for the demands of the task. "No (unit) will be closed to (Christian conscripts) ahead of time, unless there is criteria that limits the recruit's ability to serve," Hai said. Only males will currently be called, although females were welcome to volunteer too, he added. "I welcome this important, historical step ... for the Christian community to be a member of Israeli society, equal in rights and duties," Father Gabriel Nadaf, head of the Israeli Christians Recruitment Forum, told Army Radio. Israeli Jews are obliged to serve in the military at age 18, with men serving for three years and women for two. The vast majority of ultra-Orthodox Jews are exempted on religious grounds, a divisive issue in Israeli society. Other minority groups that are called up for service are Israeli Druze Arabs and Bedouin Arabs. Sammy Smooha, professor of anthropology and sociology at Haifa University and a leading expert on Israel's Arabs, doubted The proportion of Christians in the military would not change. "The increase sounds impressive because the numbers are so small so far. I don't anticipate this will rise much further. There are greater numbers of Christians going for civilian national service options," he said. He described those enlisting as a fringe phenomenon driven by concern at the persecution of Christians in the Muslim Middle East and a desire for social advancement in Israel. Nadaf, an outspoken and controversial proponent for greater integration of Israel's Christians into Israeli society, said they wanted to be fully viewed as citizens of the Jewish state. "We are not Arabs. We are not Palestinians. We are Israelis, citizens of this country and we see ourselves as loyal to this country and its institutions as any Christian living in any other place in the world would," he said. Adoption & Foster Care as a Christian Ministry by Tim Davis
T
rue religion and undefiled is to care for widows and orphans in their affliction and to keep oneself unspotted by the world. Christians commonly ask how the mandates of scripture, such as this from the book of James, should be lived out today. In answer, I submit that one way Christians can care for widows and orphans is by becoming involved in adoption and foster care. The State of Missouri currently has about 2,000 children in long-term foster care situations, waiting to be adopted. These young people range from infants to age 17. Whether they are adopted has significant bearing both upon their futures and on our community. Studies show that children adopted out of foster care (as compared with those not adopted) are more likely to finish school, more likely to enter productive careers, more likely to contract a stable marriage, less likely to rely upon public assistance, and less likely to experience depression, addiction and criminality. By contrast, children who age out of foster care without a permanent family face significant challenges.
They enter the world alone, with no emotional support, no financial assistance, and no place to live. According to Thomas Atwood, former president of the National Council for Adoption, “foster care is more like a trap door than a safety net”. Most of these children will not complete high school. Hardly any attend college. Perhaps a quarter end up homeless. The vast majority struggle with poverty. And within 18 months of ageing out, approximately half the boys get arrested and half the girls will be pregnant. This lays the groundwork for a new cycle of poverty, abuse, addiction and isolation. Independent of highbrow ideas about compassion and social justice, progressive states such as Texas have concluded based on cost-benefit calculations that it is cheaper to spend the money early to get kids into stable families than to cope with the costs of damaged and abandoned young people burdening the welfare and criminal justice systems. The State of Missouri has yet to make headway on this front. Funding for adoption and foster care in Missouri is at or near the bottom among the fifty states; only Nebraska does worse. But where the state has failed in this, as in other areas, there is opportunity to highlight the church as the source of recovery for fallen humanity.

HOW GOD USED THREE BRANSON MEN IN KENYA
A
t the start of 2014 Bishop Moses Nyabuto was fasting and praying for the Lord to send someone to help him and his wife Priscah care for the 61 orphans placed in their care in Kisii, Kenya. At the same time, Charlie Stevens from Branson, Missouri was fasting and praying for God to direct his steps in 2014. God clearly spoke to Charlie to go and help establish Hope House Center in Kisii Kenya. God answered both men's prayers. Bishop Moses had invited Charlie years earlier to Kenya when Charlie was senior pastor of Church On The Go in Hollister, Mo. At that time the church had a website. The two have corresponded over the years and prayed together, but now was the time the Lord called Charlie to go to Kenya and work together with Bishop Moses. God always has the perfect timing. As Charlie was preparing for his trip in March, he asked two men from Grace Community Assembly Church where they all attend together, if they would pray and consider accompanying him to Kenya. After praying Mike and Daniel Weber both were led to go with Charlie to Kenya to help establish Hope House Center in Kisii, Kenya with Bishop Moses and Priscah Nyabuto. When they arrived in Kisii on March 31st, they went to the store and bought some bread and orange soda before proceeding to the Center. Arriving at the Center they were greeted by 61 very excited and happy orphans. They sang songs thanking Jesus and warmly greeted
their visitors. Then it was time for the bread and soda. The soda was mixed with water in a five gallon container and each child was given two pieces of bread and a cup of diluted soda. They were very happy! It was the only food they had that day. The next day the men went and did grocery shopping for the Center. They also bought a small generator, TV, and DVD player and let the children watch some Superbook DVD's Charlie had purchased from CBN. The children now had full stomach's and were being fed the Word of God. You would not believe how happy they were. You could now see the hope return to their lives!

school. The owner had passed away a few months earlier. Bishop Moses went and talked to the brothers of the man who passed away and they allowed him to move into the center. God is so good! God used the men from Branson in a mighty way. While they were in Kenya they were able to negotiate to buy the Hope House Center for Bishop Moses, and his family ( including 61 orphans and 10 staff). The center also has a school where the children are educated. They currently have eight volunteer teachers (some are grown orphans). Bishop Moses was given favor by God to work out a deal to buy the property for 10,800.00 US. from the brothers of the man who had passed away. The property is worth much more. They also will allow the Bishop to pay it off over the course of 18 months @ $600.00 a month interest free! We purchased seeds, fertilizer, and tools to help them with their garden which they already started. Currently the center has no water or electricity. The small
generator can be used for short periods but the gas is very expensive. God brought Mike to Kenya for a specific reason. As a retired Marine Col. Mike has been trained to do strategic plans. Together with Mike we were able to prepare a five year plan to make Hope House Center in Kisii, Kenya self sufficient to care for 100 orphans by 2020. While they were in Kenya, the team were also able to preach and teach God's Word at various Churches and schools. Signs and wonders followed the preaching and God used the men from Branson mightily. Hope House Center in Kisii, Kenya needs your help. Until they are able to be self sufficient by raising their own crops and livestock, they need people to help support them. Please pray and consider donating to this very worthy cause. You would be demonstrating God's love and giving these orphans hope of a better life and future. hey say four wheels move the body, but two wheels move the soul. When I hear that rumble I feel the call of the road and seeing miles after mile of asphalt speed under my feet. Out there is a mission field. Few are called to this mission field and fewer answer. It is dangerous, taxing, and rewarding. When you minister to bikers, you are stepping into a culture that exists within our own. The bikers' world. It is more complex than the movies and shows such as "Sons of Anarchy" depict it to be. There are many levels of this culture from the weekend riders down to the 1%'ers. Not many ministers have delved deep into the Outlaw Motorcycle Club's world. For those of who have answered that call, this is a world that even God comes second to the Club. It is an rocky field in desperate need to be cultivated. This world is a mission field you must quickly learn how to tread in. As with any culture, the bikers' culture has its own protocol, language, and values. You
will quickly find yourself not just a minister to these men and women, but a missionary in Satan's own territory of drugs, alcohol, and violence. People will cross the street to avoid them. We lock our car doors when we see them riding in a pack.
Our churches have asked them to leave church services. Police handle them like a cartel to be crushed. Hollywood has made them into both the boogie man and the outlaw hero in the same category of Jesse James and Billy the Kid. And God loves them. The tax collector in latter the part of Luke 18:13 cried out, "God be merciful to me a sinner". This man was hated and feared by his own people. But Jesus demonstrate that God loves those we fear to encounter on the streets. Bikers need to hear and see the mercy of our Lord and Saviour as much as every other person on planet Earth. Scripture clearly says that their sins are no more greater in God's eyes than any of our own sins, both thoughts and deeds. And bikers desperately need someone to tell them about the hope, love and forgiveness of their God. I have met many bikers who were delivered from their sins become men and women of deep faith. It quickens my heart and refreshes my soul when I meet them. You will rarely meet a Christian who is a stronger brother and sister to you than a Christian bikers. Pray hard for this mission field and give your support (spiritually, materially, and financially) to the missionaries who are toiling to spread the Good News to this culture.

Dear Dave, My wife and I have a friend we met through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. She has a 1-year-old child, and she recently asked us for some money. We don’t really approve of how she’s choosing to spend her money—she’s spending a lot of it on alcohol and cigarettes—but she does need financial help. What should we do? Mike Dear Mike, I have a very simple rule for situations like this. If someone is bold enough to ask me for my money, I can be bold enough to attach requirements to the money for their own good.
Financially speaking, her problem is just as much mismanagement of money as it is a lack of money. Anyone who chooses smokes and alcohol over diapers for their kid needs to be smacked. But since you can’t really do that, you can put conditions on your help that are designed to help her improve her decision-making abilities and, by doing that, improving her life. —Dave

One of two things will happen when you handle things in this manner. They’ll welcome the help and graciously accept your conditions, or they’ll get mad and act like you have no right interfering in their business. I don’t have a problem helping people who have a good heart and really need a break. But if someone cops an attitude with me in this situation, I wouldn’t break out my wallet anytime soon. Regardless, if you choose to do this, I’d make the money a gift and not a loan. Concentrate on trying to get her on a path where she thinks a little straighter, and, as a result, she will make better choices. Teach her how to make and live off a budget or help her enroll in a personal finance course. But right now, just handing her money is like giving a drunk a drink. This whole situation is a lot bigger than giving someone $35 for diapers. The answer to that is easy. It’s yes. But in this case I’d probably give it to her in the form of a grocery store gift card. Many of those don’t allow alcohol and cigarette purchases. Or, I’d just go buy diapers and baby food and take them to her. Actually helping people is a lot more work than just
My advice would be to put the IRS at the very top of your debt snowball. Usually, when it comes to paying off debt, I advise people to arrange their debt snowball from smallest to largest, then start with the smallest one and work their way up. This doesn’t always seem to make mathematical sense, but the truth is personal finance is 80 percent behavior and only 20 percent head knowledge. Paying off some small debts quickly energizes you and gives you motivation. It makes you feel like you can really do it. Besides, if you were such a math genius you wouldn’t have debt in the first place. But the IRS is a different animal altogether. Their interest rates and penalties are ridiculously high. Plus, they have virtually unlimited power to collect. So put them at the top of the list, and get them paid off as fast as you can! —Dave

As for the “plan” part, try to envision the type of lifestyle you want during retirement, and then estimate how much this lifestyle will cost. Once you reach retirement, you will also need to do some planning — specifically, you will need to calculate how much money you can afford to withdraw from your investments each year. Becoming disabled — One-third of all people between the ages of 30 and 64 will become disabled at some point, according to the Health Insurance Association of America. Band members can keep it to the side of their music stand. If my music is memorized and I don’t have a stand, I fold the service order up and keep it on my keyboard or on the floor.
s I’ve been visiting and playing in several churches over the past few months, I’ve noticed a few recurring problems that can easily be fixed to help the quality of your contemporary worship:
When I inevitably draw a blank and can’t remember the next song, a train wreck is avoided. Or I might step off the stage during announcements when, oops, there’s still another song coming up for the offering.
1. A stale sameness.

We all have our favorite worship leaders, but if you’re a Joel Houston fan, does every song in your set have to be written by Joel Houston or one of his clones? It seems like everything these days is either Hillsong United or trying to sound like Hillsong United. If you do five songs in your set, do two or three of your favorites, then throw in something different— a piano ballad, a hymn, a "golden oldie" praise song, a ukulele. Anything to add variety. The best praise set I’ve heard in a long time was created by 28year-old worship leader Jared Barber here in Greenville—it had a little bit of everything, reached a wide audience and kept you engaged.
2. Service order. Do you ever wonder why your guitarist/drummer/keyboardist draws a blank during your set when it’s time for them to start the intro to the next song? Many worship leaders don’t provide a service order for the band at rehearsal. Instead, the band is given a stack of jumbled charts for the upcoming Sunday. I want to know the order and have it in front of me (seeing it on a worship planning website isn’t enough) so I can start getting it ingrained into my head.
B, and the song that immediately followed was in C. It would have been a much easier, effortless and smoother transition to play both songs in B or C. After you create your praise set this week, look it over and even sit down and play it through on your guitar or piano. Can the worship flow be improved by nudging keys slightly? Related keys are your friend—going from D major to G major works much better than going from D major to F# major. A halfstep makes all the difference!

The manner in which people get their news coupled with a bad economy led us to steer away from breaking news features and instead offer opinions and research on topics that have a longer shelf life. Upgrading to a magazine format allows distribution to places that were unavailable as a newspaper tabloid. Charging a modest cover price per issue takes away the burden and quite frankly unatainable ad driven support. The name change reflects our expanding distribution area. You, the reader, can now participate in the minstry of this magazine to the body of Christ as a kingdom unifier. We pray the contents will help us all grow in our journey of faith and wisdom. Our goal is to widen our distribution through midamerica. We are now in our 10th year of printing

Maybe a freind can split it with you and you both can share it. If that is not possible, could you please try to get the the OCV at your favorite vendor?
