I love bargains as much as anyone. And I especially love the "deal of the century!" Well government auctions as just such a place to find such deals! At a government or police auction you can find anything from aircraft and aircraft parts, boats, cars, jewelry, computers, laptops, cameras and camera equipment, office equipment and supplies, furniture, campers, trailers, and trucks. And anyone can bid on and buy these items. One recent local government auction I attended featured a large number of playground items from a local park that had been renovated. They even had an entire locker room full of lockers to auction off. Our local county government holds a government auction every fall. Much of the stuff auctioned off is from government offices. However, the county is also responsible for the parks, aging homes, several snack bars, and road and lawn maintenance. Some examples of bargains included copiers selling for under $30, lawn mowers and riding mowers, dump trucks for several hundred dollars, cash registers for under $25, and several sets of nearly new office partitions for $10! I picked up a nice metal desk for $8.00 and a heavy-duty metal table (that I use for a drill press stand) for $4.00! In a previous auction, I picked up a color laser printer for $37.00! So how do you find these auctions? Certainly you can try to ask around, but you may not get many straight answers. After all, these government and police auctions are well-kept secrets! The more people that know about the auctions, the higher the bidding can go. This is bad news for you the buyer! So smart buyers keep these auctions secret. But there are services that will search out and alert you of upcoming auctions in your area. You can signup for these services and they will send you a list of government and police auctions or they will allow you to browse government and police local auctions on their website. These sites are a smart investment! One bargain can easily pay for an entire membership to one of these auction-finding sites. One example is that I purchased a lot of ten flat-screen monitors at one of these government auctions. I paid less than $100 for all ten monitors. I sold them for $100 each! And this is just one example of the many bargains you can find. So get a list of local or online auctions and start bidding. You will be amazed at the bargains you will find out there. And remember, when you find a good government or police auction, keep it a secret!
