In 2022, The Community Foundation board approved a new five-year strategic plan. While our new plan continues our history of work in Muncie and Delaware County, it also provides us with new goals on which to direct our work. Our goals include strengthening relationships with donors, nonprofit partners, fellow funders, and community leaders. We also want to support charitable action across the community by increasing awareness of the Foundation as a partner in philanthropy.

In this issue of Legacy, we share the story of Richard and Dorothy Burkhardt, who had their own charitable goals and saw The Community Foundation as a partner to help them realize those goals. The Richard W. and Dorothy J. Burkhardt Fund allowed the Burkhardts to leave a charitable legacy through their gift to The Community Foundation. You will also see a summary of grants and gifts from 2021 and read about grants awarded to kick-off 2022.

We look forward to connecting in 2022. We hope to hear from you about your charitable goals, too.
