A Two-Year Grant Commitment for Meals on Wheels

SINCE 1971, Meals on Wheels has provided meal delivery and companionship to members of the Muncie Community – primarily seniors. Due to rising costs, Meals on Wheels has seen the cost of each meal rise by $2.25. Passing on that entire cost increase to their clients would cause a financial hardship that would make meal delivery unattainable for many clients.

This year, through the Community Grants Program, Meals on Wheels received a multi-year commitment for funding, spanning 2023 and 2024, to help them bridge the gap in their budget as they gradually implement a price increase for meals while working to grow a Client’s Assistance Fund to subsidize the cost for low-income clients.
