Wayne Myers Student Council’s Lecture of the Month

(on cover)

“Live to Give!” This has become Brother Wayne Myers’ motto. Serving in Mexico required Wayne and Martha Myers to live by faith. One of the most unassuming, humble men, Brother Wayne has been entrusted by God with millions of dollars, yet lives humbly. Brother Wayne and his wife, Martha, were trustworthy with little and soon they were trusted with much. When gifts or resources are given to him, he turns around and asks the Lord, “Whom would you like me to give this gift to?” Brother Wayne often speaks on the biblical and spiritual implications of tithing and giving. By blessing others, we not only sow and eventually reap a harvest in this life, but we also sow in the Spirit. As a free gift to you, we are sharing all three of his lectures. The Student Council of CFNI says Brother Myers impacted the student body greatly! They believe you will be touched as well. Brother Myers says of CFNI, “I know of no better investment than to share in the worldwide ministry of Christ For The Nations. You may choose to bless an orphanage, print more literature, roof a church, or give a scholarship to an international student who is praying to attend CFNI. As you pray, God will direct you because when we bless others, we bless Him.”

GOD’S FAVOR ON CFNI GRADS

HOW TO WIN GOD’S FAVOR The Book of Esther reveals a lesson on winning the favor of God. We read, “Now the king was attracted to Esther more than to any of the other women, and she won his favor…” (Esther 2:17 NIV). What did Esther do to capture the heart of the King? First of all, Esther took the time necessary to prepare herself—12 months of beauty treatments—and she was rewarded for it. Students attending Christ For The Nations Institute also prepare their hearts to capture their King’s attention in order to win the Lord’s favor. Second, Esther sought to please only one man—the King. Unfortunately, many Christians are not blessed to the level they could be because they spend more time pleasing others and seeking the pleasures of this world. CFNI students learn quickly that this school prepares them for this life and the next in eternity. Finally, Esther understood her purpose in life. It was more about saving others, rather than just herself. Her Uncle, Mordecai, told her that she had, “come to the kingdom for such a time as this.” In other words, Esther learned that before she was born God had set her apart for such a purpose—to save them (Jer. 1:5). Students at CFNI realize their purpose in life is not about themselves, but rather about a world that needs the favor of the King of the universe, King Jesus. Esther knew that approaching the king, without an invitation, meant sure death, yet she said, “If I perish, I perish.” The result, she found favor with the king. Many of our graduates leave with a heart attitude like Esther. They, too, have learned to give it their all. Esther’s act of self sacrifice resulted in her people being saved and her enemy being hanged. CFNI graduates travel to many dangerous parts of the world, knowing that they may also be endangered physically. However, they also know that the rewards of eternity are far greater than any evil threat of the enemy.

GOD’S FAVOR ON CFNI GRADS

Listed below is just a small percentage of results from our CFNI alumni who are touching lives throughout the world. * BARTHOLOMEW & APPHIA MANJORO In 1966, Bartholomew gave his life to the Lord. He met his wife, Apphia, who was a street minister in 1969, and they were married in 1974. They came to CFNI in 1983, and in 1984 they went back to Zimbabwe to begin Faith World Ministries and a Bible College. Dr. and Rev. Manjoro have also planted churches in Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Ghana, and Namibia, with their network reaching to Japan, UK, and Canada. Their two children, Junior and Faithful, were also ordained at CFNI.

* MARIO & BONNIE DUCIC Mario and Bonnie graduated from CFNI in 1996. Currently, Mario is the pastor and president of Crkva Cjelovitog Evanđelja in Croatia. In addition to his vision to work and serve both in Zagreb and the entire country of Croatia, Mario has formed many ministries in the church, initiated civil organizations, and developed practical church ministries to not only help the church, but to be a positive influence on society. He has also taken part in national events with other protestant churches, and for some years, has led the annual “Croatia for Jesus” festival.

* JAN & RAQUEL BICA After graduating from CFNI in 1996, Jan Bica and his wife, Rachel, started a publishing house which concentrates on Christian literature for children in the Czech Republic. They are also key leaders in the development of pastors across their nation through their efforts at CzechOut. Jan and Raquel are the lead pastors of Prague Christian Fellowship Central Congregation, which is one of eight thriving congregations united as one church.

* CHRIS & DEBORAH (HEIN) MAAS Chris and Deborah lead Afrika wa Yesu in Mozambique, a powerful, discipleship-based ministry that gets their members involved in soul-winning, home-church planting, sending emerging leaders to Bible College, and raising up missionaries. Under their leadership, churches are planted all across the nation—in homes, under tress, and anywhere else people can gather. Deborah graduated from CFNI in 2001.

* VANGPONG & NAROLA PHOM These 1996 graduates of CFNI overcame great persecution to found NAGALAND EVANGEL MISSION AND WELFARE ASSOCIATION (NEMWA). The ministry initially started with an orphanage, which provided schooling, food, lodging, clothing, medication, and hygiene needs among the poor, especially the children. The ministry has now adopted the name God Loves Kids. God Loves Kids takes in children living below poverty, builds them an actual structure to live in, and educates them in the context of discipleship.

* PETER & RITA TSUKAHIRA Peter, the son of a Japanese diplomat, and his wife, Rita, a Messianic Jewish believer, are the founders and directors of Carmel Assembly and Mount Carmel School of Ministry in Israel. Peter also travels internationally holding God’s Tsunami Conferences, which connects world-wide revival with the land of and people of Israel. These conferences equip people with ministry and marketplace strategies for understanding the power and direction of God’s purposes today. In addition to a traveling ministry, Peter serves on the Board of Directors of Church Growth International, chaired by Dr. David Yonggi Cho. They attended CFNI from 1974-1976.

* NEVERS & MARGARET MUMBA In 1977, Nevers gave his life to Christ. Through Reinhard Bonnke, he was able to attend CFNI, graduating in 1984. Upon his return to Zambia, he started Victory Ministries, and planted over 70 churches. Although Zambia was supposed to be a Christian nation, the government had become corrupt. So in 1977 he founded the National Christian Coalition to encourage civilian participation in politics. In 2003, Nevers was appointed vice president. He is currently running for the presidency of the Movement For Multi-Party Democracy, one of the two political parties in the nation, which will eventually set him in motion as a prime candidate for the presidency of the country.

n Wednesday, April 18, 2012, the staff, faculty, students, and guests all came to the 11:00 a.m. service at the IB to honor the late Freda Lindsay. This day, April 18th, was chosen as a special honor because it was “Mom” Lindsay’s birth date. This was the second year for the annual award. Ginger Lindsay felt it important to launch the annual award in 2011. A committee was formed, including Anna Hayford, Anna Kendall, Beth Alves, Ruthanne Garlock, Alta Hatcher, Cindy Jacobs, and Ginger Lindsay. Their distinguished choice for 2012 was Dr. Sandra Kennedy. Dr. Kennedy is the Founder and 6

a wonderful place where the Word of God is exalted, the healing power of God is manifested, and the love and compassion of Christ is demonstrated. Dr. Kennedy was given a mandate by God to “grow up the Body of Christ and teach them victory,” by addressing the whole man; spirit, soul, and body. This mandate is evident in every facet of her ministry and is conveyed through her weekly teachings, television programs, numerous books, and conferences. Sandra Kennedy Ministries supports orphanages and schools in Haiti and three Bible Training Centers in Nigeria and the Netherlands. Sandra has ministered in many nations around the world, including

Russia, New Zealand, Germany, and China. Her zeal and passion to help those who are hurting, whether it’s here or abroad, the victims of disaster or the weekly churchgoer, is what reminds us of Mom Lindsay. They are both known for their integrity and have a reputation of being able to get the job done. It takes fortitude and a confident trust in God to achieve all that they have and to reach the numbers that they have. We congratulate and celebrate

Dr. Sandra Kennedy! She is an example of the love of God!

An essential aspect of Christ For The Nations’ rich heritage is a deep love for Israel. The student body participates in “Bless Israel Day” every fall, and we send a team of students to share the Gospel of Yeshua in the streets of Tel Aviv each summer. We also help support seven frontline ministries across the nation. Avi and Chaya Mizrachi, 1987 graduates of CFNI, lead one of these ministries and are powerfully impacting their culture. Avi and Chaya lead the Adonai Roi Congregation in Tel Aviv. This thriving congregation cannot be contained by the four walls of their building. The members join together and run the Dugit Outreach Center, which is an evangelistic outreach in the heart of Tel Aviv. It functions as a coffeehouse where people can have conversations in a relaxed environment, very conducive to their effective, relational evangelism style. Adonai Roi also reaches out to their community through the Agape Distribution Center, where they give food and clothing to the elderly, impoverished families, and recent immigrants. These compassionate believers don’t just take the Good News of the Messiah and humanitarian aid to their community, but have also sent teams to India, Iraq, and Sri Lanka. Avi is an internationally sought after conference speaker, teaching the world about the Jewish roots of Christianity and sharing Abba’s heart for the people and land of Israel. Chaya is actively involved in the Pro-Life movement in Israel, and leads Post Abortion Syndrome Workshops that provide counseling and support for women who suffer from the trauma that follows abortion. Avi and Chaya truly exemplify the heart of Christ For The Nations, as they reach the lost and broken, disciple them, and continue to gather support for the nation of Israel.

The 11th Hour Signs

n this new section of the magazine we present Gordon Lindsay’s various writings concerning the eleventh hour signs, as well as new contemporary research relating to Jesus’ Second Coming. We hope it inspires you to draw closer to Christ and look for His appearing.

2012—The End of the World or the Eleventh Hour? Gordon Lindsay, the co-founder of Christ For The Nations wrote extensively about the signs of Christ’s Second Coming in light of the Scripture and current events of his time. Although, he went home to be with the Lord in 1973, his spiritual and biblical insights are invaluable in helping us discern the revelatory signs of our present day. Taken from Gordon’s booklet, The Second Coming of Christ, he describes a significant historical happening as World War I comes to a close. Mentioned by Gordon is Field Marshal Edmund Henry Hynman Allenby, a British soldier and an administrator who was most famous for his role during WWI. Allenby led the Egyptian Expeditionary Force in the conquest of Palestine and Syria in 1917 and 1918. Gordon’s insight opens an observation for us today to see a literal 11th hour moment begin and reveals to us prophetic insight concerning this last days’ sign. The Sign of the Eleventh Hour “In the Holy Scriptures, there is a parable of five wise and five foolish virgins. Jesus spoke of Himself as a Bridegroom who arrived later than was expected. Recorded in this parable is the statement, “But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’” (Matthew 25:5, 6) “Prophetically speaking, does this verse imply that the Lord Himself returns at the midnight hour? One of the strangest coincidences in historic timing that has ever occurred was at the close of War World I. This event did not happen by plan or intention. Those engaged in that desperate conflict had no thought to plan it that way, but happen it did. World War I ended at eleven o’clock on the morning of November 11, 1918, which was: THE ELEVENTH HOUR OF THE ELEVENTH DAY OF THE ELEVENTH MONTH JUST ELEVEN MONTHS AFTER ALLENBY ENTERED

JERUSALEM ON THE ELEVENTH DAY OF DEC., 1917. “Certainly, all this chain of coincidences couldn’t have just happened. Wasn’t it providential? The occupying of Jerusalem on the 11th day of December 1917, by the British and making Palestine a homeland for the Jews was the most outstanding prophetic fulfillment of the war. What did all this mean? Wasn’t it God’s clock, striking the hour, signifying the world had entered the eleventh hour of history, and the midnight hour when Jesus will return is not far off?” The Second Coming of Christ, Biblical Foundations p.7, CFN Publications Anneli Rufus writes in Psychology Today, “An increasing number of Americans— even intellectual Americans—now believe the world will end in 2012: not metaphorically, not politically, but literally. They believe that the way we live, the way we spend our time, and above all, the way we think will change radically as the world undergoes a cosmic meltdown foretold by ancient seers.” http://www.psychologytoday.com/ blog/stuck/201011/waiting-the-end-the-world-0, Published on November 18, 2010 by Anneli Rufus A Christian leader writes in his March 28, 2012, newsletter, “Networks, organizations, and stores are popping up everywhere to supply individuals and groups who are preparing for “end of the world as we know it” scenarios. National Geographic even devotes a TV show to doomsday preppers. The paranoia may seem crazy or extreme. Yet it does illustrate an undeniable point: Our nation is fragile.”” David Kubal, president and CEO of Intercessors For America, page 1 Is 2012 the end of the world and should we be filled with paranoia about the future or are we simply in the eleventh hour of history before Christ Jesus’ return? We can all agree that Christ’s return can happen at any moment and at the same time it could be many years in the future. No man knows the time of his return but we can discern the season of his appearing. We’re not to be paranoid about man’s predictions of the future but to have peace in the Holy Spirit and be looking for Jesus appearing based on Scriptural indicators. Let us prepare for Jesus Second Coming with patience during these perilous times. Be watching for next’s months’ 11th Hour Sign! Capital Labor Struggles

on’t forget your nebulizer,” Zinnia Simpson reminded her son, Travis, as he was preparing to leave their apartment. Travis had severe, chronic asthma and had to use his nebulizer frequently. Often it did not help, and Zinnia found herself making frequent trips to the hospital emergency room so her son could get help to breathe. “Oh mom, I forgot to tell you, I got healed at KFN. I don’t need it anymore,” was his calm response. Travis was nine-years-old and had just experienced God’s healing touch during a service at Kids For The Nations Summer Day Camp. His single mom was grateful he was able to attend camp on a scholarship, and hopeful that he truly was healed as he claimed. Now, five years later, Travis is 14-years-old. He has continued to attend KFN each summer and has done a great job serving as a Counselor In Training for the past two years. Travis is active in his church youth group and 10

loves the Lord. His mother is so relieved that since his first year as a camper at KFN, she has not had to take him to the emergency room even once. He is healed! Children do experience healing at KFN, both in their bodies and in their hearts. We will never forget Julie (name changed for privacy), who was under the care of a psychiatrist for the sexual abuse she suffered from her father.

Julie’s grandmother sent her to camp, where God met her at the altar during a service and healed her from the pain and shame of the abuse. When her grandmother picked her up that day, Julie got into the car and exclaimed “I feel clean!” That was the end of her visits to the psychiatrist and the medications he had prescribed for her. Many children come to know Christ as their Savior at Kids For The Nations. Miguel and Gwyneth Enriquez serve as Family and Children’s Pastors at a local church. They tell about a special, young girl they brought to KFN. “America could not wait each year for KFN Summer Camp. She is the youngest of three children, she has two older sisters. For much of her life she has been raised by her mom because her dad is in prison. Through KFN Day Camp her life was changed when she became engaged in a dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ as her Savior. As a result of her love for the Lord and persistent desire to attend church, she convinced her sisters to faithfully get involved in our youth group and their lives have also been changed. One scholarship has impacted

Travis healed at KFN.

an entire family! America has now transitioned to the youth group, but those formative years really solidified her walk with the Lord. Without a camp scholarship, America, in a single parent home, could never have considered coming to camp.” After one of the KFN services, when most of the campers had moved onto their next fun activity, one young girl was sobbing in the arms of the CFNI student intern who served as her counselor. When I went to investigate, this precious girl, trembling with tears streaming down her face, told me that during the service God told her to go around the world telling people about Him. I asked her what her answer was to this call of God, and she collapsed in my arms and whispered, “I said ‘YES.’” Campers receiving a call from God to serve Him on the mission field, in children’s ministry, or other facets of Christian service are common at KFN. Many children truly worship for the first time in their lives, and feel His Presence as never before. The KFN worship team is amazing as they lead the campers in crazy, fun, action songs, and then into the throne room of God. Seeing the children run to the front and worshipping with all their might, then kneeling with arms raised and tears flowing, is worth all of the work involved with camp. One of the most impacting aspects of camp is the love and care the campers receive from their KFN counselor. The CFNI student interns are carefully trained and equipped to nurture the children and pray for and with them. During Day Camp, some interns lead the great activities like wet-andwild, archery, outdoor cooking, extreme art, culinary arts, and go-karts. The favorite activities (outside the services, of course) are daily swimming and the water park outing. Day Camp is great FUN for all and even more fun when you are wet! KFN Preteen Impact Overnight Camp is a totally different experience. Yes, after three weeks of Day Camp we change

everything and host an overnight camp especially for children ages 10-12. This is a unique demographic, a mission field in itself. Too old to consider themselves children, yet not quite teenagers, they are hungry to discover who they are and what life is all about. Their motto is fun, food, and friends, and we provide it all at Preteen Impact. Some interns say Preteen Impact is camp on steroids. Everything is bigger and more intense. God certainly shows up in a BIG way, touching and changing lives. A different guest speaker leads each service, exposing the Preteen Campers to ministers from different nationalities, generations, and ministry styles. It is awesome! Worship is the main attraction at Preteen Impact. The KFN band is so anointed and truly ushers in the Presence of the Lord. In His Presence, children are healed, saved, filled with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and forever changed. The sound of children crying aloud for the salvation of their parents and reconciliation in their homes is permanently etched in my mind. Last summer, before Luis (name changed for privacy) came to Preteen Impact, his brother stated that he was very rebellious at home and his parents could not control him. Luis had even attempted to commit suicide shortly before coming to camp. While at Preteen Impact, Luis encountered the love of God, and now he is obedient and loves to read the Bible. His little brother says he is totally changed. God meets kids at camp. He honors the prayers of the CFN family and the efforts we all make to reach the next generation for Christ. We are so blessed to have friends and partners who help children come to camp. Thank you so very much. I hope that in heaven you will meet the lives you touched with your prayers and giving to KFN Summer Camps. WWW.CFN.ORG/DONATE - FIND KFN SCHOLARSHIP June 2012

FROM TIMBUKTU TO

HEAVEN

G

olden-yellow sands of the Sahara desert and turbans flowing in the powerful gusts of wind are not what usually come to mind when navigating the rush hour traffic on the bustling freeways in Dallas. But it was here that this nomadic adventure started! It was the strange name that caught my attention. The shiny bright white Volkswagen SUV named the “Touareg.” Wondering why they would give such an unusual name to a sports utility vehicle I looked it up on the Internet. My search led me to a rugged desertdwelling nomadic people who are described on the Joshua Project website as an unreached people group. This brief excursion on the world-wide-web began a fascination with the beautiful Tuareg peoples living in Northwest Africa. My fascination was heightened when I learned that one of the seven Tuareg people groups, the Tuareg Tamasheq, make their home in the legendary city of Timbuktu! Who knew it was a real place! Each semester our students in the Global Missions Major have heard about my love for the Tuareg people. They have joined in prayer together that God would open the doors to reach this people group with the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. And suddenly, when we thought it would be quite impossible for us personally, God brought us face to face with the Tuareg. Christ For The Nations Institute partners with Go To Nations to provide field training for our Global Missions Major students. One of these locations is in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, where Joel and Heidi Hayslip have been working among the Fulani people. It was to this location that God brought the Tuareg from their home in Mali. Because of the recent attempted coup and resulting war and violence, thousands of Tuareg have fled into surrounding nations. More than 20,000 have sought refuge in Burkina Faso, with around 800 being housed at an unused school near the Go To Nations ministry center. Joel and his team immediately sprang into action and visited the refugees handing out bananas, bread and sardines. Noticing the many children who were desperate for some loving attention and activity to break their boredom, Christa and Abigail, our CFNI field school students, began playing games with them. A couple of teachers were hired to teach the children French and each Thursday Joel and his team have been teaching lessons from the Old Testament and playing games with the children. One Thursday morning God orchestrated heavy rains that brought all the children under a pavilion where they continued with their Bible stories without any interference from resistant adults. When an invitation was given at the end of the Bible story twenty children stood up to commit their lives to Jesus Christ! Please pray for these brave children to grow strong in Christ. Pray that many Tuareg will come to salvation. Please pray for our students as they continue to obey Christ’s command to feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, and bring good news to the poor.

Help us train future students willing to “Go” to other nations and spread the Gospel of Jesus. www.CFN.ORG/DONATE

GINGER LINDSAY, COO of Christ For The Nations

Embracing Timely Transitions Written by Celeste Groomer

hen looking back over your life experiences, have you ever found moments where change was absolutely necessary; to transition from one thing to another was essential for growth? In a recent conversation, Ginger Lindsay described one of her moments to me. Well over a year ago, the CFN Board asked her to accept the office of Chief Operating Officer. It struck me that the Lord had been crafting her for this position for many years. In fact, I saw a pattern of several transitions in her life that were all cumulatively the foundation of her present leadership role. For several decades, the Lord would periodically remind Ginger that she would one day be in the position of the COO. This solemn secret was confirmed prophetically time and again, though Ginger never aspired, by any of her own doing, to make it happen. She would have to be placed there by the Lord or she would not rise to the occasion at all. In fact, she had resolved to live her life in a constant flow of simply doing what the Lord told her until He spoke a new thing. Back to the Beginning When Dennis and Ginger married, they immediately traveled to Europe with Youth With A Mission and thoroughly enjoyed evangelistic ministry in coffee houses, universities, near disco techs, and on the streets. They sang in a trio, witnessed to people in stores, beaches, streets, and restaurants, and loved discipling new believers. They were a young couple full of adventure, living their lives directed by the Lord. A short while after they began ministering in Madrid, Spain, Gordon Lindsay traveled there to spend a few days with them. During that time, he told Dennis that he wanted him to return to the States and become the dean of men and teach at his new Bible school. He also expressed to Ginger that he wanted her to teach a Spanish class. When Gordon returned to the States one week later, he passed into eternity on the stage at CFNI. The year was 1973. Though they did not realize until his passing, Gordon Lindsay had made his last wishes known to them face to face, and there was no mistaking what his desire was for them. Back to Dallas They returned home and did as he had requested of them. During this transition, Ginger felt as though she had lost a bit her identity due to exchanging the evangelistic ministry that she loved in order to teach a class at CFNI. The Lord showed her that she was to be content with what he was putting in her hands to do. Soon after their return home, the Lindsays began their family and children became the focused ministry of Ginger’s life. The Lord gave her keen insight, letting her know that she was to focus solely on being a wife and mother. Though she felt removed from ministry, He reminded her that she had not lost her ministry at all, but that He had focused her attention to a different aspect of ministry—her husband and her children. She knew the Lord told her to be a wife, mother, and great homemaker. With that, she became satisfied and enjoyed the years at home raising her three children, Missy, Hawni and Golan.

Stepping Into Public Ministry As the youngest of their children became a teenager, the Lord spoke to Ginger of another transition for her life—Women’s ministry. The annual CFN Women’s Conference was born, and for the next 20 years she would go through the uncomfortable adjustment, year after year, of God stretching her abilities to speak in front of large groups of people and organize and lead these conference events. Eventually, the women’s conferences changed emphasis as the Lord again transitioned Ginger’s heart to embrace the new thing He was doing. The Lord had placed a strong desire in her heart to pray and prepare for a revisiting of the healing revivals that had been so strong in the early years of The Voice Of Healing ministry, in which Gordon and Freda were so instrumental. She began teaching a class at CFNI on healing. She also began to develop and lead, along with Alta Hatcher, the annual Voice of Healing Conference at Christ For The Nations. Broadened Leadership Ginger finally felt comfortable in her new roles at CFNI. Yet this was the time, unsolicited by her, that the Lord would prompt the CFN Board to place her into a new position; Chief Operating Officer of CFN. Immediately, she felt as though she was in unfamiliar territory and yet stepping into these “new shoes” and taking up this “new mantle”, she began to recall the lessons she gleaned from her mother-in-law. Years of passed-on instruction, side-byside with Freda Lindsay, began to speak to her in every situation. She was amazed to find that for so many years the Lord had been preparing her for this moment. Ginger sees herself superimposed into Freda Lindsay’s footsteps. She has embraced the call the Lord has given her. She has simply stated that life is no longer about self-fulfillment. It is her determined response that all her focus is to please the Lord. She has firmly gripped the assignment at hand and is leaning on the Lord. She is grateful for the years of preparation He brought her through in order to have equipped her for this season. Just as Ginger has embraced many timely transitions, maybe the Lord is calling you to cross over to something different, a new change to embrace, or perhaps He is bringing you into a new season in your walk with Him. What transition could you be preparing for? Will you welcome it? Let me encourage you to follow Ginger’s example to be faithful and content while continuing to acquire all that the Lord has for you in the process. In doing so, the Lord has an amazing way of transitioning us into His greater purposes.

The State of

W

Youth Ministry today

hat do you think about when you see a teenager? Some people have instant thoughts of kids with tattoos, who smoke, hang out in groups, drink, party, and live by the motto “YOLO,” which stands for You Only Live Once. I see something different entirely. I see a generation caught in the middle of childhood and adulthood indirectly looking for their purpose, future, and destiny in peer-pressure filled waters! The state of youth ministry today in the eyes of the world is promising. Teenagers spent 170 billion dollars in the malls of America last year, according to John Stossel from ABC news. Teenagers spend between $1000 – $3000 a year on technology, such as smart phones, computers, gaming systems, and television. They also spend more than seven and a half hours a day using technology, and it has become a strong part of their daily lives. We must realize that all the shopping and technology in the world will never substitute for a teenager having family, relationships, and God-given purpose. As a youth ministry veteran and specialist of 22 years, I’ve seen many things happen in youth ministry, both in and out of 18

the church; and I believe more than ever that God is raising up a new generation of leaders that don’t only look like David and Joshua, but the most unlikely of biblical leaders, Samson. In Judges 14:5, 6, it says, “So Samson went down to Timnah with his father and mother, and came to the vineyards of Timnah. Now to his surprise, a young lion came roaring against him. And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he tore the lion apart as one would have torn apart a young goat, though he had nothing in his hand. But he did not tell his father or his mother what he had done.” David had 5 stones in his hands. Joshua had a sword in his hand. Samson tore apart a young lion, though he had nothing in his hand. I believe that God is showing this current youth generation which, in reality has so much materialistically-speaking, but nothing in their hands spiritually-speaking, that it is time for them to grab hold of their destiny. The Spirit of the Lord desires to come mightily upon this generation so that they, too, can defeat the enemy, even when it doesn’t make sense to others. At CFNI, I have had the privilege of directing Youth For The Nations summer camps and conferences for over 8 years, and I have seen

firsthand what happens when a generation grabs ahold of God. I have seen teenagers set free from addictions and bondages. I have seen teenagers speaking in tongues and prophesying over one another. I have seen teens pray for one another and multiplied healings manifest. I have seen teenagers lead not only their friends to Christ, but also their family members. Between YFN English and YFN Spanish, we have seen over 90,000 teenagers and young adults transformed for the glory of God over the past 22 years! Teenagers may think that they only live once, but that is those that have never been born again. I have had the privilege and honor of partnering with the local churches, lead pastors and youth pastors, in helping train, launch, and equip their “next generation” leaders both locally and globally. I have watched teenagers get saved at YFN camp and get called to become students at Christ For The Nations Institute; then observed them get a solid biblical foundation while serving in a student ministry that expands their heart and gives them valuable ministry experience. I have watched them go on Missions trips abroad or serve stateside doing YFN or KFN. I have had the joy of helping train them as an instructor in the Third Year Youth Major. I have watched them graduate with tears in my eyes and seen them become youth pastors across the world. Then, I get to hear their wonderful testimonies as they come back to YFN with their youth groups showing them how this amazing Bible Institute

changed their lives. I would say that the state of youth ministry today isn’t as bleak as some commentators would portray it. The Church may not have the money to pour into this generation like Hollywood does, but the outpouring of the Holy Spirit will change our teenagers in a way that will forever be remembered in history! I believe that not only do teenagers need to be supported spiritually by the body of Christ, but also financially. The up-and-coming present and future youth leaders of our generation need your help. If you believe in being a vital part of transforming this generation, then I would ask you to consider supporting Christ For The Nations with a financial gift that helps them train new generational leaders! This generation doesn’t have to have “nothing” in their hands when they face the enemy that wants to steal, kill, and destroy the family unit. Please pray for not only the David’s and Joshua’s of our generation…but also our future Samson’s!!

Support Christ for the Nations, send your teenagers to a Youth for the Nations camp or conference experience, change the trajectory of a young life for eternity! www.cfn.org/donate

FERTILE FIELDS WITH SURPRISING YIELDS.

I

William and Kim Prince

n February of 1996, I shared a story with CFNI about how God had supernaturally surprised us with record breaking sales as a result of challenging God through an incentive program at a car dealership I was managing in Florida in 1995. They published the story in their March 1996 issue and titled it “FERTILE FIELDS WITH SURPRISING YIELDS The challenge to the owners of the dealership was if we broke the alltime monthly sales record in profits that they would send a check to CFNI to help build a church in a foreign country through their Native Church Building Program. The first year I was there we broke those records 7 times and subsequently helped CFNI build 7 churches. The owner of the dealership was so pleased that he permanently put in the pay plan that when they broke the monthly sales records that they would send a check to CFNI to help build a church. He got so blessed sowing into the fertile soil of CFNI that he began to be convicted that he was sowing backwards. He would normally only help build a church after he received a record breaking harvest. He then told the comptroller of the dealership that the first check that was written each month went to CFNI as a seed to grow into a harvest! He later was asked to share his testimony to a group of local businessmen where God opened up a door for him and I realized that God had taken him to new levels of faith and prosperity and new opportunities for him to give God glory. 22

June 2012

From then until now as God has moved us on we have used incentives at other dealerships, other business ventures, our friend’s finances, our finances and other means to help build Churches through CFNI. We have rarely had the money in the bank to pay for any of the pledges we have made for a particular project but through God He always supplied plenty of seed to pay for the Church Projects we committed to. Along the way our faith grew, and because of God’s faithfulness in training us not to fear making a pledge without the cash in hand, we began to step out more and see the supernatural hand of God’s provision put cash in our hands to pay for those churches. By the way, our lifestyle increased too as it became easier to believe God for other things that my wife Kim and I wanted in life. Having said all that I am so amazed when I look back at the time of the previous article and say with all sincerity that we never saw today coming. We took a step and God took a bigger step and that has continued today as we look at what God has allowed us to be a part of. Since 1995 we have helped CFNI build 74 churches in 45 different nations! Wow! We have continued to see God’s hand of provision and prosperity throughout all those years as we stayed the course through all of life’s ups and downs by sowing into the fertile fields of Missions through CFNI. It has been 17 years now and it has been a privilege to be a very small part of what God has accomplished globally through CFNI! We can definitely testify that when we started this trek we experienced “FERTILE FIELDS WITH SURPRISING YIELDS” and now we live mature in our calling to partner with CFNI as our experience has become “FERTILE FIELDS WITH CONTINUED YIELDS”. The main reason for sharing our story today is because we realize that now, for this season of our life, God has challenged us to come up higher in our faith to be more of a part of what God is doing at CFNI. Recently as I was reading the schedule of upcoming events at CFNI, I saw the dates being announced for “Campus Days” which is an event where prospective students who are considering attending CFNI can come, view the campus, sit in on classes, attend the morning worship, and get an overall feel for campus life at CFNI. We had been discipling a young man that we helped lead to the Lord and both he and us felt that he was called to full time missions work. He has a testimony and an anointing similar to that of Nicky Cruz. He had 3 confirmations of God’s calling to missions within the first 30 days of being saved. Over the last year he and his wife have proved faithful in their walk with the Lord and they felt the timing was right to move forward in studying to show themselves approved. Obviously, CFNI was the only place on the list! We came down and experienced most of the facets of campus life and this young man felt immediately that he was in the right place. His name is Fidel Ramos. He and his wife Annabell have since moved to CFNI and are now enrolled in school for the next three years. He is one of the most gifted and hardest workers we have known. We look forward to seeing God’s plan unfold

in their lives. During the course of my visit there with him I was privileged to be in an orientation meeting where prospective students got to hear from Dr. Dennis Lindsay and other staff and faculty members. After the meeting I met Dr. Lindsay and during the conversation I shared with him that my wife and I had Kingdom Real Estate in Lubbock Texas where we managed apartment complexes and houses and were in the middle of a 1.5 million renovation project on one of our properties. Dr. Lindsay introduced me to two other gentlemen and one of them mentioned the renovations need at the men’s dormitory on the 4th floor. Well I was immediately inspired about the possibility and challenge of assembling the personnel and the resources to put a project like that together. I was very confident that getting the building materials at huge savings was plausible since we had about 8 different accounts at Lowes Improvement Center in Lubbock and received big discounts due to our purchasing volume. I later found out that Mr. John Day, who was in charge of buying materials at CFNI, already was primarily buying from Lowes and had established a great relationship over the years with his Commercial Lowes Sales Rep in Dallas. So the infrastructure seemed to be in place to acquire the necessary building materials. I didn’t know how Kim and I could help with the labor but was so excited about the possibilities that I drove home with all kinds of wheels turning in my head. We wanted to be a part of something far bigger than what we had previously done we just didn’t know how to put it together yet. Well, we got home and I started telling some of our employees about the need at CFNI for a person or persons to go and do the actual labor in the demolition and construction involving the 16 dorm rooms on the 4th floor as well as renovating the hallway and laundry room. Since Fidel and Annabell were relocating there to go to school they volunteered to do all the labor. Also we had a man and his wife (Brandon and Teresa Lewis) share with us that for the last month they had been praying that God would open up a door for them to travel and help build churches wherever God would lead them. Brandon is a Master Cabinet Builder and overall the best carpenter I have ever worked with. He and his wife have cheerful giving hearts and are an encouragement to be around. They volunteered to travel back and forth from Lubbock, TX. to help build each project as God provided sponsors. So now we had a remodel team in place and needed God to provide the way forward. Those events led my wife and I to pray and seek God for his will concerning pledging this project and stepping up our faith more than 10 times the normal financial commitment that we had been used to. I figured that with our workers doing the labor as their gift to God and with Kim and I sponsoring the first room that all we had to do was find 15 other people to sponsor a room each at approximately $3,450.00 to cover the building materials. Well, we believed that God wanted us to come up to June 2012

23

this new level of giving and we would have been disappointed had we felt his prodding not to do it. So we drafted a proposal outlining the description of the materials and the cost along with the housing needed for the workers and sent it to Mr. Day who ultimately forwarded it to Mr. Randy Delp for approval. In the proposal I reminded them that we didn’t have the funds to complete this project and we would be relying on God to move upon the hearts of people to sponsor the remaining rooms. We had more than enough faith for this as we have seen the faithfulness of God provide funds for the 74 churches we had pledged without having available funds in the bank. Apparently God likes a lifestyle of faith. Believing without seeing somehow moves God to supernatural provision for the vision. I have heard many sermons about a phrase in the Bible called “AND SUDDENLY.” The story I told you about in the first paragraph pales in comparison to what happened in one day after making this commitment to CFNI. In one day in what could only be described as a divine multiplication of the resources my wife and I pledged we encountered the greatest financial miracle of our lives so far. On the day we received an answer from CFNI that they agreed to let us have the remodel project of the 4th floor four things occurred, two things that we stepped out in faith and obedience and gave and then two huge responses from God which happened on the same day. The first thing was, of course, our commitment to complete the remodel project. The second thing we did was to mail out another pledge that we had made in another area of ministry. “AND SUDDENLY” on that same day a man whom we had never met donated an apartment complex to our ministry free and clear. He brought us the deed to the property and we were overwhelmed at the harvest we had seen in literally just a couple of hours. This property has the potential to help remodel more than just the 4th floor and even though it needs some renovations itself it could easily be a harvest of 10 times or more than what we were sowing into the fertile soil of CFNI. My wife and I could hardly grasp what God had done in response to our sowing “AND SUDDENLY” we received a phone call from another man the same day. He said he was sending off a check that day which would pay off a $170,000.00 debt that my wife and I owed on a Windmill Ranch we had just purchased. We had recently signed a contract to pay $700.00 per month for that ranch for 20 years! We now own the ranch free and clear. The combined income from the apartment complex and the windmills on the ranch could potentially produce per year is over $400,000.00. What an incredible day! We were, and still are, overwhelmed at the response from God as we planted deep into the fertile soil of CFNI. Kim and

I have been Christians now for 22 years and have had the most incredible harvests of our lives through our partnerships with CFNI. I believe the heart of God is the fertile fields of evangelization through foreign missions programs. I don’t know of any other organization that God has used more to plant churches, to equip and send out tomorrow’s leaders than CFNI. Since 1947 they have helped build more than 12,000 churches in foreign countries. The last time we shared our story we ended it by saying that we didn’t know what God had in store for us in the upcoming years….. but this time we do. We have a team in place to do the remaining 15 units on the 4th floor of the men’s dormitory which is named The Gordon Lindsay Tower or GLT Building. We along with CFNI and others are praying that God would move in the hearts of businesses, individuals, churches and organizations to help sponsor a room. Because these rooms are not livable CFNI is having to turn men away from student housing. Each room houses up to 4 men and is only 12 feet wide by 22 feet deep. The living conditions may be small but the need is huge! The field is truly white but the rooms for the laborers are few. We need sponsors at every level. You can sponsor a full room for $3,500 which includes a plaque in the room designating each individual, church or organization’s name. You can also sponsor half a room for $1,750 or even a quarter of a room for $875. You can mail your sponsorship to; CFNI P O Box 769000 Dallas, TX 75376-9000 or sponsor online at: www.cfn.org/ donate specify “GLT Renovation”. You can use the envelope inside this magazine. Thank you Christ For The Nations, for all your assistance to us and all those like us who are trying to fulfill our call to be a part of God’s Global Harvest!

CFN MAG: You, along with your brother and sister, Golan and Hawni, recently substituted for your dad, Dennis Lindsay, at a special event in California. Please tell us about it: Missy Lindsay: Dad asked us to go in his place to Dr. James Garlow’s church in San Diego, California, where the new multi-million-dollar facility at Skyline Church had just opened. Our grandmother, Freda Lindsay, was being honored as a heroine of the faith by having her name etched in one of the tiles of the 24×300-foot Heritage Walk in front of the church. CFN MAG: Please describe the Heritage Walk. Missy Lindsay: It has 300 names of major leaders etched on tiles, beginning with historic figures and running up to modern-day heroes of the faith—all of them people greatly impacted their world for God and His Kingdom. Can you imagine my surprise to learn that my grandmother’s name, Freda Lindsay, was etched in a tile next to Mother Teresa?! The names are arranged in order of their birth, starting with the first man, Adam, continuing through the heroes of the Bible and church history, up to the present day. These are faithful ones who courageously dedicated their lives to a cause greater than themselves, while also displaying a spirit of self-sacrifice. The presentation and description of the ministry these champions achieved for the Kingdom was deeply moving. Those named here will be known throughout history as valiant men and women who resolved to obey God no matter the cost— some of them even gave their lives for the faith. We felt as if we were walking with the giants of the land, those of whom the book of Hebrews says “the world was not worthy” (11:38). CFN MAG: When it was time for Missy to speak, Pastor Garlow introduced her as Freda Lindsay’s granddaughter. He talked about Freda’s accomplishments as co-founder of Christ For the Nations, and

her courage in continuing to build and expand the ministry after her husband Gordon’s sudden death in 1973. As he requested that Missy give a charge to the younger generation, Pastor Garlow asked her, “How do you want them (the people) to see those named here on Heritage Walk?” Missy, the final presenter, stood on the platform before a full house with her brother and sister, Golan and Hawni, standing beside her, and gave this challenge: I want you to see them as HEROES of the Faith. A hero is an ordinary person facing extraordinary circumstances, who, despite the odds stacked against him or her, typically prevails. He or she displays courage and the will for self-sacrifice for some greater good. Those named on the Heritage Walk once were alive or youthful and powerfully used to impact their world for God. Why? Because they were willing to step out of their boats of comfort and obey God no matter the cost. We are also ordinary people finding ourselves in extraordinary times. Our liberties are being threatened on every side … our nation’s foundational values being stripped away: the right to life, the sanctity of marriage, our religious freedoms, and so much more. The kingdom of darkness is waging war against the Church like never before. We need a new generation of heroes to arise— especially among the young people—if we are going to save our nation. We need those with courage who will pick up the mantles of the ones who have gone before us and be a voice for righteousness in a world where wrong is called right, black is called white, and where injustice seems to be the epidemic of the day. Those who are not afraid to stand on the side of truth like Pastor Jim Garlow, who when the State of California tried to redefine the biblical definition of marriage in our land, gathered together our leaders, our churches, and the youth in one united effort to stand up and fight, and he did this successfully. He is what I would call a true hero of the faith. If we will resolve to learn from the examples of these heroes we honor here today and commit to walking in integrity, faith, and love as they did, I

believe God will use us just as He used them, to effect change in our world in a very powerful way. Let’s not miss this amazing opportunity before us! In May, Dr. Garlow was the commencement speaker at Christ For The Nations Institute. While getting ready for commencement, he told Ginger Lindsay, “Missy was poised, anointed, and bold! She hit it out of the park.” CFN MAG: After the service you, Golan, and Hawni went outside with the rest of the special guests to represent your grandmother on the Heritage Walk. We were told you received some uplifting words from more than a few of those special guests. Would you mind sharing about that? Missy Lindsay: I was humbled, and a bit overwhelmed, by each gracious interaction. I received strong encouragement from Dr. James Kennedy’s family, and also Mrs. Vonette Bright, Dr. James Dobson, Lynda Wildmon, Takoosh and Joseph Hovsepian, and others. The Skyline Church pastors and staff were amazing and very inspiring with their comments. Afterward, God reminded me of a powerful prayer of impartation that Grandma Lindsay prayed over me before she died: “Lord, may Missy’s words be those that You would say if You were doing the talking.” I took those words to heart, and I know this was an answer to her prayer. Each person who refreshed me that day was used by the Lord as I began to recall again the words spoken to me about declaring the Word of God. The most meaningful compliments came to me from my own siblings. Hawni, who had never seen me in that setting, said, “I didn’t know you had it in you!” and Golan pretty much echoed the same sentiments.” CFN MAG: Would you like to offer any closing thoughts? Missy Lindsay: I’m grateful that God opened this opportunity for me, and that He bestowed such favor upon me. I remember Grandma’s example of giving all glory to the Lord, and I know that He deserves it all! Now I’m seeking His direction for whatever He has in store for me in the future.

“As I was hearing and seeing those featured on the Heritage Walk being honored at Skyline Church, I was deeply moved. Hearing of how each one gave so much in service to the Lord overwhelmed me to the point of tears. The desire to follow their example of complete dedication to the Lord flooded my heart. I pray that I can follow in such pure, dedicated footsteps. When Missy began to speak of our grandmother, it really hit me. This was someone in my own family! I was in awe, just two generations back from me, my grandmother. -Golan Lindsay

Healing Place Team Leader: Dorothy Peterson

T

his is the story of Thaddeus Amenu, who was miraculously healed by God from an accident that should have claimed his life. Thaddeus, an Ethiopian man, who is an engineer by profession, is married with two children. Two years ago there was a storm, and it was during that storm that he fell in the garage. Shortly after that he began to have migraines. He then went to the doctor, where he had a CT scan. The scan revealed that he had internal bleeding, and therefore he had to go for immediate surgery. He was then admitted into hospital. He called one of the CFNI staff member’s husband, Neb. Neb’s wife, Wossen, works in the Healing Department. Thaddeus went in for surgery and it proved to be successful. That evening, Wossen joined them. Thaddeus was alert and he was also responding to those around him. Then everything turned around so quickly. The following day at mid-day, Neb received a call. Something had gone wrong. Wossen went to the hospital, where she found Thaddeus’ family and friends crying. Thaddeus had had seizures, and respiratory failure. Wossen went with Ethiopian scriptures in hand. She told them that they had to pray, that it was a time to trust in God and not a time for crying. They interceded, and spoke the Word of God continuously. They went into his room, surrounded him and prayed Psalm 118:17 to him, “(You) will not die but live…”. They declared this repeatedly. They sang Psalm 103 until they felt a release. They did not stop there, however. The following morning, as early as 5a.m. Wossen got her Bible and went to the 32

June 2012

hospital. She went into Thaddeus’ room and shut the doors, even though it was not visiting hours. However, she had confidence. She prayed Psalm 118:17 over him again, and told him that whenever he wakes up, he ought to declare the very same word over himself. There was a sense of peace, and color began to come into his face. Although it was minor, it was still progress and they thanked God for it. He went in for surgery yet again, and it went well. He finally managed to open his eyes and his health continued to improve. He called Wossen to come in and read the book of Psalm to him, which she did. They held hands, with tears in their eyes, still continuing to declare God’s Word. “I will declare the Word of God,” Thaddeus told everyone. Now fully recovered, Thaddeus speaks of God’s miracle of how when he was in the coma he could hear Wossen praying. He says that even though there were noises around him, he heard nothing but the scriptures that were prayed over him. He felt as though robbers were trying to steal the Word from him and so for 7 days, he would repeat those words “so as not to lose them” he said. His health improved drastically, and the speed of his recovery was nothing short of amazing. In 18 days time he was released from the hospital – which was a miracle in itself. He says that as the people surrounded him in the hospital, he was not afraid. He feels privileged to have gone through this experience as it has strengthened his faith in God. Everyone gets touched whenever he shares his testimony. The peace of God, and the Kingdom of God has come into his home. “I am living for today. Tomorrow is not mine.” Says Thaddeus.

HOW DOES ONE GO FROM A HARD-HEADED ATHEIST TO A MIRACLE-WORKING, CRUSADE EVANGELIST?

W

hen people ask me questions about the miracles and the ministry, they usually begin with; “When did it all begin?”, “What has caused you to experience so many more miracles than others?” or, “How did you get your ministry launched so soon after Bible School?” These are difficult questions to answer with just a one sentence response. It’s not like there is a golden key that goes into some special lock. From what I have experienced, God doesn’t give you a golden key—He shapes “you” into a golden key. My salvation experience was born out of depression, insomnia, and despair. Nights without sleep wore on me like a strung-out vice that wouldn’t go away. I went to many doctors; none could diagnose my problem, but all could prescribe more pills, which I took by the hands-full. I attempted suicide a couple of times, trying to escape the pain. Those nights are sometimes too difficult to talk about. I try to forget what the rifle and razorblade look like. One time, I actually went seven nights without sleep. That was one of the most torturous things I have endured in my life. I also tampered with combinations of alcohol, marijuana, and other drugs, trying to get relief. Thank God, He turned my mess into a message. AN ATHIEST GOES TO BIBLE STUDIES? I was an atheist before I got saved, and yet, I hung around Christians. I went to my Christian friends’ Bible studies because they were able to have fun—hours of Sponge Bob and corny jokes brought some life to me at a time when I was deeply depressed and couldn’t sleep. However, it was my friend, Mark, who I met nine years ago, who impacted my life. Mark had backbone, he was an authentic Christian. I met him at a Bible study, and he didn’t seem flaky. When he spoke, he had something intelligent to say. I had never met a Christian like this before. He June 2012

mentioned he was going to see the movie, The Passion of the Christ. For some reason, I wanted to go; I was still trying to figure out what was wrong with this guy. During the movie, images of Jesus as a child, running down the steps flashed onto the screen. Mary, His mother, ran to rescue Him. Right then, something gripped me. From somewhere within my soul, rivers of tears filled my eyes. I didn’t have a preacher, an evangelist, or a Sunday school teacher talking to me, all I had was the humanity of Jesus, blazing before my eyes. A revelation came to me. This Jesus was real!! Now, I know what the Scripture means when it states, “No man has revealed this to you, only God” (Matt. 16:17). The first thought that came to my mind was, “Jesus, if You are the Son of God, can You heal me of insomnia?” My frailty was all I could think about. After I left the movie theater, I eagerly waited for someone to invite me to church. I wanted God. This was different. It wasn’t just a religious curiosity or a desire to have answered prayer. For the first time, I wanted Him. On the way home, Mark talked about the contemporary church service he attended. So I joined him. The first thing I felt was life, freedom, and family. Mark was the unofficial deacon of deacons. He was at the church seven times a week, cleaning or replacing something. I was his handyman and student. Together, we replaced a church toilet, erected and concreted the aluminum flag pole that stands there to this day, and weeded the flower beds. His intensity for the Word of God and prayer rubbed off on me. He and I were together so often, people jokingly called us “Mark Anthony.” I NOW HAVE A PURPOSE After I had finally encountered God, one of the most outstanding sensations I felt was purpose. When I spent time reading God’s Word, and worshipping for long hours in my room, I felt fulfilled. I was so on fire for God. All I wanted were Christian things—Christian music, Christian TV, Christian friends, etc. I was burning for God. I figured that since I was in church, I should be doing something ministerial. However, there were already enough pastors, teachers, secretaries, and children’s workers. After reading the Word, I found something that I didn’t see anyone in my church doing. Since it was in the Word, my initial thought was that it’s a legitimate need. STREET EVANGELISM BEGINS What was missing, I soon realized, was soul-winning. So I grabbed all the tracts off my church wall and got to work. If there were verses in the tracts, then I needed to mark them in my Bible. I filled my Bible with sticky notes, and set my target. I went to my local campus—Wharton County Junior

34

June 2012

College. But every time I went, I got into an argument. In my hours of flipping through Christian TV, I stumbled upon an evangelist whose teaching showed me a better way than my current approach. I ordered the DVD series and watched the whole set. The day after I completed it, my friend, David and I, went downtown to put them into use. We drove by a city park, parked the car, and walked over to a man sitting and drinking alcohol. We began to share Jesus with him. Kevin got saved, and I discipled him for about two years. It was important for me to equip myself in evangelism; to this day, I have a heart to equip people to win souls (Ephesians 4:11). I’M ALREADY MINISTERING; WHY GO TO BIBLE SCHOOL? I used to hear, “Anthony, you are so on fire for God; why don’t you go to Bible School and become a pastor?” When I heard this I thought, “Well, I am now the president of the Bible Club at my college campus, and people are getting saved; what’s the point?” To me, this was ministry. However, when the feeling to go to Bible school came, I had a sudden urgency to act immediately. I told my mother, “I have to go Bible School next semester. In my search for Bible training, I came across Christ For The Nations website with cutting-edge worship. I told my mother, “The CFNI credits transfer to Southwestern Assemblies of God University. I need to do a summer semester.” My mom said, “Let’s go check it out.” CFNI, HERE I COME Once I moved on campus, I instantly gravitated towards the Evangelism Ministry. I had never seen so many evangelists in one place, at one time, like this before. I thought people like me were rare. This was a dream-come-true—evangelist heaven. As time went on and I served faithfully, God began to use me as a leader. Before my second year, by the grace of God, I led a CFNI outreach to SMU. We went out weekly, worshipped in the square, and prayed for the sick, but we didn’t see many healings. The evangelism leader graduated, and I was selected to be the new leader. My heart was to reproduce myself. I spent hours in the prayer room, soaking in God’s Presence. I wanted my leaders to be uncommon leaders, so I prayed for them. The only way I knew how to impart that to them was to model a bold witness by preaching before hundreds of homeless people and praying for the sick. I knew if they were inspired, they would not lack motivation. I tried to discern and develop their gifts and release them to do what God had uniquely placed inside of them. THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT When people ask how God started using me in the

Baptism in the Holy Spirit ministry, all I can say is that it came unexpectedly. I have never felt a drawing to children’s ministry. However, my friends raved about how KFN had change their lives. After hearing it so much, I decided to be a counselor. During the daily worship service, I was given an opportunity to pray for the kids. Connie McKenzie, the director, and the KFN staff would lead them in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. After observing them, I began to pray for kids to receive it, too. I couldn’t contain my excitement when seven kids starting speaking in tongues for the first time. My faith is now charged for this area of ministry. Since that time, I have ministered corporate Baptism in the Holy Spirit services at Teen Challenge, churches, youth groups, and crusades, resulting in hundreds of people receiving the Baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. MY HEALING WAS A PROCESS I wish I could say that I was healed instantly of insomnia, but it was a process in which, I walked out growing stronger each day. Dr. Carroll Thompson faithfully prayed and stood by me during harsh withdrawals. I soaked in the teachings from the Principles of Healing and Miracles class taught by Ginger Lindsay and Alta Hatcher. MY LIFE WAS MINISTRY When people ask how I got my ministry launched, I wondered what they meant by ministry. My Christian life was always about sharing the Gospel. What exactly do you need to “launch” in order to do that? I was just faithful. God promoted me to leadership positions because I was faithful at CFNI and at Heartland church, where I served under Pastor Steve Hill. Staying plugged into a local church, submitting my ministry and personal life to a local pastor, having an accountability partner, and multiple mentors was essential. When people tell me that they want to be in ministry, but they don’t want those essential things, I smile and think to myself, “You don’t have the seriousness to be in ministry.” What God refined in me at Christ For The Nations became the gift that made a way for me. The curriculum I used to train CFNI students on evangelism became the same curriculum I used to trained Teen Challenge students. God further developed that curriculum to equip churches on evangelism, discipleship, and so on. I think I know why some CFNI students change the world and some don’t. The ones who don’t wait until graduation to be world-changers will continue to change the world after they graduate. Currently, Rev. Dee serves as staff evangelist at River of Life Church in Rockwall, Texas. He travels full-time, conducting Miracle Crusades in the U.S. and around the world. He is the author of The American Mission: Soulwinner’s Manual. For more information, visit www.AnthonyDee.com. June 2012

HELP CFN REACH THE WORLD BY REACHING ONE PERSON AT A TIME by: Pastor Reina de Salazar

T

hanks to Christ For The Nations and their vision to train and send out workers into the harvest field. By God’s grace, and the fulfillment of His purpose in our lives, my husband, Ricardo Antonio Salazar, and I have been able to develop a network of over 43 churches in more than 10 countries, including many Bible Schools, which we call Training Centers for the Ministry.

36

June 2012

In 1989, we started CRISTO A LAS NACIONES MINISTRY, and God has been with us! God also gave me the opportunity to start People With A Better Destiny Association (GDM), which we call the social arm of our ministry and network of churches. Through this organization, we have reached the central and local government of our countries, as well as the private enterprise. It

is designed to not only meet the needs of the Body of Christ, but to also reach those who are extremely needy and do not know Him yet. This is done through medical aid, orthodontics, counseling, legal advice, and feeding programs for children and street people, providing them with clothing and food—not only their basic food needs, but the most important food, spiritual food, the Word of

God. This type of ministry opens up a broad path for evangelism that ends up in new church plants. Besides this, we have organized children’s dining rooms, youth conventions, and TV and radio programs that have both reached and rehabilitated over 400 teenagers with drug and other addiction problems. This ministry has contributed in changing lives, according to God’s Word, as we have witnessed hundreds of testimonies of deliverance and their ability to re-enter society. God has been with us, knowing that our work here in Central America and other countries is the fruit of a wonderful legacy that God gave us through CFNI. We chose to remain a part of Christ For The Nations through the FMC (Fellowship of Ministers and Churches), a fellowship full of vitality, harmony, humility, and simplicity. My husband and I both feel rewarded in belonging to the FMC and being able to receive the teachings of CFNI, which has not lost its balance nor its power to be life-changing over the years.

“I am A witness that CFNI maintains the same clean, pure, and powerful mantle that I once embraced while I was attending there.” Mom Lindsay left a deep impression on me, with her passionate and unselfish way of serving God with great effort and courage, working hard each day with integrity in the administration, direction, and missions that the Bible Institute requires as part of the ministry. She is still an example for us today and for those generations who are yet to come. Her legacy still lives on through those who faithfully serve and are loyal to impart what many of us call, “God’s Mantle.” The spiritual impartation that was given to us at CFNI has become the key for us to serve God. Today, we continue this difficult task, like she did it, as ministers of the FMC and as witnesses of the Divine and the most wonderful experiences. Our responsibility, at this time, is to impart and transmit what we have learned to be true to our families, our staff, and to all the students that by the thousands will continue to come. I am a witness that CFNI maintains the same clean, pure, and powerful mantle that I once embraced while I was attending here. I pray and ask God to stay with CFNI forever because it’s that balance that has let us, as a married couple, work together in the ministry. We’ve had a solid base and a strong foundation, and are now imparting what we have received to other sheep of the Lord.

Native Church

Your gifts are safe

By Nicky Geldenhuys, CFN Native Church

Tragedy struck twice in a very short while in a westernAfrican country, when the only two Native Church Program supervisors died within a matter of weeks. A developing nation, land-locked, war torn by rebellions, and with a Muslim majority; this place lacked conveniences we here in the United States take for granted, like consistent electricity, water and internet. Having to use internet cafés where the rates are high and the service spurious, the supervisors are sacrificing just to get applications and reports out. According to Operation World, the growth of Islam there equals the growth of Christianity. The good news is that one’s growth comes biologically, the other’s is spiritual, as people are born again by the Spirit of God. It took a long time for me to learn about the plight of these two dear brothers. One of them was supervising a church roofing project of which I was waiting for reports to pass on to the sponsors. My communications did not get a response. Letters to such places are not commonly returned to the sender if undelivered, for whatever reason. Throughout its almost 50 years of existence, the Native Church Program has had the blessing of working with supervisors of exceptional integrity. The thought of having this project open-ended did not sit too well with me, but it felt as though my hands were tied. Then came an email from Moses, a YWAM missionary in that country: “I do not know whether you have been informed of Pastor Meshac’s death in a tragic road accident in January. In brief, I met a hardware store owner whom we have bought things from in the past. We had also introduced him to Pastor Meshac, who bought roofing material for a church from this dealer, but about 45% of the costs were still unpaid. This businessman approached the church leaders and the family of the deceased pastor/supervisor after the funeral, hoping to get his money. The family promised to take care of the debt, but having very limited resources and now without a breadwinner and pastor, they were

42

unable to clear the bill.” Moses continued: “By May, nothing had been paid. I approached the church leadership on behalf of this Muslim businessman. They said because of the language barrier and Meshac’s computer, which was damaged in the fatal accident, they were stuck. They, therefore, asked me to help them by following up with you. Meshac was my prayer partner and confidant, and we prayed about “Native Church” among other things.” I, as the Native Church Program Manager, was elated to know we could well be in a position to bring closure to this. The church roof could be finished, but more importantly, the congregation could live without the sword of unpaid debt over their heads. Moses, the missionary who sent this email, would be in the USA soon afterward. We agreed how to get the funds to him. On his return to the mission field, he wrote: “Greetings in Jesus! We have been back since October 10. We came back to a town with no power or water, and it made settling down a bit of a challenge. A month ago, I was able to get Sambaye Nicholas (who survived the accident with Meshac) to go sort the account with dealer. I was pleased to find out the church had taken initiative to pay some of the associated bills. The materials and labor bills outstanding amounted to $1,014. When all the bills were settled, the amount of $486 was left over of the amount you have sent with us. I can send a USD check to your address or direct to other pending projects you have here. I await your instructions.” I submitted this to the Missions Board, who approves the Native Church Program project applications. They decided to let Moses pass the balance on to the church to use as they see fit. Most likely, they bought chair or window and door frames with the additional money. For sure, they were blessed beyond expectation! Fifty years since its inception, logging over 12,500 churches graciously sponsored by innumerable partners, the Native

Church Program records speak for themselves: Your gifts are safe. Moreover, we do not take any partner or gift for granted. We thank God for every partner in this highly practical ministry, asking His blessing on you, your loved ones and your business dealings. We thank God for the supervisors who work with great integrity as they handle the funds and provide the photos and reports. Each application is considered very carefully. No reasonable request from a congregation walking in sound doctrine is refused. The supervisor asks key questions and obtains proof of legal ownership of the property and the land before submitting an application. Last, but most importantly, we rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us in our decision-making. It is often not possible to fund the churches with the amount they would prefer to receive, yet in the end God provides. One congregation after another and another rejoices for His provision so the believers could concentrate on the Lord and not on rain or shine!

Literature For DISCIPLING THE NATIONS IN THEIR LANGUAGE! The first week of April (one month ago) 400,000 booklets in French and English were received in Ghana and Liberia from the printing press in Belarus! Meshach just sent an email this week stating, “Praise be to God for the work He is doing through His servants! Last week we distributed books that were sent to us, in the village of Denase, about 20 kilometers from Kumasi, Ghana. We distributed a lot of booklets in the church and the villages as well. We shared the Gospel with the people and explained the importance of these books. People are really enjoying reading them. There was a blind man in the village, who we visited with the Gospel. As we were about to leave, he told us to give him one of the books entitled How You Can Be Healed. I prayed for him and asked him, “How can you read this book?” He said, “I will let somebody read it and explain it to me.” God is doing wonderful things through these books! I really believe that, as these books are distributed, we will hear many testimonies. Praise be to God!” Gordon Lindsay began his ministry by supporting the ministries of others; God then began to use him in a significant way. Through his revivals, writings, and minister’s conventions, he encouraged pastors and evangelists to walk in bold faith. Meetings multiplied across America and were characterized by dramatic conversions and healings. He was a prolific writer, penning 250 books in his lifetime, and in 1948, he began recording what God was doing in a magazine called The Voice of Healing. Integrity was Gordon’s hallmark. He lived the sacrificial message he proclaimed and was even willing to sell his home to start a Bible school. Today, both the ministry and the magazine are known as Christ For The Nations. 44

June 2012

It is unbelievable to hear of the capacity of only one of Gordon Lindsay’s Gospel booklets in the developing world, and to picture what nearly 62 million booklets have done in over 120 nations is unimaginable. Entire villages have been reached through only one person sharing a booklet with relatives and friends. Here are just some of the nations where people have received literature: India, Burundi, Korea, Burkina Faso, Uganda, Kenya, Malaysia, Zimbabwe, Norway, Pakistan, Holland, Brazil, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Chad, Sweden, Slovakia, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Haiti, Venezuela, Tanzania, Philippines, Thailand, South Africa, Vietnam, Nigeria, and Yugoslavia! The languages translated are: Afrikaans, Amharic, Angami, Arabic, Assamese, Baffia, Bask, Bengali, Bulgarian, Burmese, Chinese, Dutch, Chitwmbuka, Creole, Croatian, Danish, Efik, English, Finnish, French, Garo, German, Haka-Chin, Hebrew, Hiligaynon, Hindi, Hmar, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Karanese, Kannada, Karby, Khasi, Kirundi, Korean, Lobiri, Luganda, Lukiga, Luo, Lushai, Malayalam, Malaysian, Marathi, Meitei, Moore, Ndebele, Nepali, Norwegian, Oriya, Persian, Pashto, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Rongmei, Roumanian, Russian, Sara, Serbian, Shona, Sinhala, Sinhalese, Slovak, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tagalog, Tamil, Telegu, Thai, Tsunga, Urdu, Vaiphei, Vietnamese, Yoruba, Yugoslavian, and Zulu. When our Literature Department Manager, Nickie Geldenhuys, ministered in the cities and rural areas of Allahabad, Meghalaya, and Shillong City in India, he was astounded—he found people reading Gordon Lindsay books in remote areas of the nation! This speaks so powerfully of the impact and lasting effect of the booklets – especially if

or The Nations they were distributed many years ago. He shares, “I met those who have translated some of the Literature For The Nations booklets into local languages. The “Meitei” language version of “The Way To Eternal Life” had its very first publication in 2008. I saw people young and old in many places reading it! A pastor told me that many have met the Lord after reading these booklets, and having become curious, came asking for further information.” Weeks ago, we received a phone call from Josh, an evangelist from the US, in need of Arabic and Urdu audio books. This month, our audio books are being aired on radio stations in Sudan and Pakistan! He is also in Sudan distributing MP3 players with our Gordon Lindsay books in Arabic. Our PDF versions of the books are going to leaders, for their use in discipling others in the local communities as well. The same is happening in Creole and Urdu in upcoming trips Josh has scheduled. As the legacy of Gordon Lindsay still transforms lives with the hard copy booklets that have found their way in so many remote locations of the earth, I believe there are still so many more languages and methods we can use to reach this current generation in every people group. Technology is rapidly enabling leaders and pastors in under resourced towns all over the world to access and download our MP3 (audio) books and PDF books at no cost! To date, we have recorded 111 audio books in 21 languages! These are especially effective for illiterate peoples who can hear the Gospel in their language for the first time. This is the legacy of Christ For The Nations, and is still our heart to today. Christ For The Nations is more than our name; it is our mission! Please pray and ask the Lord to show you what part you may play in this global, hope-filled strategy!

Y

ou don’t have to fly overseas to get to the mission field. Today, the Navajo people, right here in the U.S.A. still struggle through their daily life, living in thirdworld conditions. Living with dirt floors is one thing, but no running water or electricity goes beyond what we imagine as the “norm” for Americans. James 2:16 challenges us with, “If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?” CFN’s Women’s Conference, under the direction of the Holy Spirit working through Ginger Lindsay and Rev. Alta Hatcher, accepted that challenge and has given the funds to make a water well available to the Navajo in Lybrook, New Mexico. Now, they will be provided with clean drinking water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This water well has impacted their community more than any other construction project in the past, not only in the physical, but in the spiritual, as well. We have felt a shift in the Spirit! As Jesus ministered to the Samaritan woman at the well, there are now many opportunities for evangelism, as people fill their water tanks (John 4). Our prayer is that through this water station, the Navajo people will be saved and rivers of living water will begin to flow from this community (John 7:38, Rev. 7:17). On behalf of our Christ For All Nations founder, Lazelle Powell, and our board of directors, we would like to thank Ginger Lindsay, Alta Hatcher, John Day, all of the Christ For The Nations, Dallas, Texas, staff members, and the Women’s Conference for their donation that made this “Rehoboth” well possible! One Life at a Time, On Purpose As you can see on the cover, “a picture paints a thousand words.” During this edition, we are highlighting CFNI’s Kingdom business of discipling and training world-changers. Our mission strategy begins with young lives (KFN Summer Camps), and stretches to international, CFNI graduates who are sent back to their native land in order to change their nation, and quite possibly, the world. International Scholarships Christ For The Nations is not just a name—it’s our mission. Presently, there are about fifty nations represented on our campus. We have students from countries once thought impenetrable. There are students from Vietnam, Cuba, Russia, Ukraine, China, Israel, throughout Central and South America, from all parts of Western Europe, and across Africa. Christ For The Nations is an unusual place where, for 42 years, wonderful things have happened to change lives. Our students are still being changed by the power of God. They will be thrust into the world, armed with truth of His Word and the power of the Holy Spirit. Many of them will return home to build churches, Bible schools, orphanages, and ministries not yet conceived. The nations will never be the same! Through your monetary gift, we can say “YES” to train an international student. They are taught biblical principles which expose the fallacies of Darwinian Evolution and Humanism, and all manner of false religion and repressive governmental ideologies. God is calling His people to see the harvest of the nations. Say “YES!” on behalf of Christ. We are able to give scholarships to international students because our friends believe that together, we can change the world. Follow the link to International Scholarships: www.cfn.org/donations KIDS FOR THE NATIONS! SOUND THE ALARM! Sound the alarm! Let them shrill loud and clear for all to hear. Let the sirens blast until all are aware there is danger. Give everyone plenty of warning to take appropriate action. It’s an emergency! What is the emergency? It is our children, the most vulnerable members of society. Our children are in emergency situations. They desperately need to experience God’s salvation, His healing, and to know that He loves them and has a plan for their lives. Psalm 127 tells us that children are like arrows in the hand of a mighty warrior. We (adults) have the power to determine the direction the arrows will go. We are very aware that the enemy has a plan to destroy the arrows; we can’t let him succeed!

Kids For The Nations Summer Camps at CFNI are off and running to meet this emergency and show children they are loved by God, and aim them in His direction. We believe with your help we can send the next generation of arrows into tomorrow knowing God and His plan for abundant life. Please help us send these arrows into God’s plan and allow them to experience all that KFN Summer Camps have to offer. Parents in our community (many desperate single mothers) are again praying and yes, and even begging us for scholarships so their children and grandchildren can attend KFN. The cost of one child is only $115.00. Wouldn’t it be awesome to hold the bow and send even one arrow (needy child) into God’s plan for their life? Some of you can send five arrows, or even ten or more. Please prayerfully consider how you can join CFNI and KFN to change a child’s direction in life. Let’s work together to get the alarms off.
