A TRIBUTE TO ROBERT “BOB” MASON

“See you in Heaven!”

When Dr. Robert (Bob) Mason joined the faculty and staff, Christ For The Nations became a better place. His loving spirit and cordial friendliness sparked life to all who knew him. He was known for telling the many remarkable stories he had experienced of God’s power while traveling to over 70 countries. Bob and his wife, Debbie, served as Chairman of the Music Department and Directors of Living Praise from 1978 to 1985. This traveling music group focused on praise and worship, included special music, personal testimonies, and training for hands-on altar ministry. Bob also led the Sanctuary Choir.Their love for the students is still acclaimed by those they taught. After leaving CFNI, Bob served for eleven years at two Metroplex churches, overseeing the Music and Arts Ministries and was the Academic Dean of North Dallas Seminary. Dr. Bob Mason graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR. He also received a Masters of Art in Practical Theology with honors in 2004 from ORU in Tulsa, OK. Bob has had over 40 years of combined ministry experience in worship leading, pastoring, and missions. His love for missions led him to establish Missions International-World Expeditions where he introduced people from local churches to experience the mission field and to help build church facilities in developing countries. His short-term mission’s approach has been an incentive for others to become full-time missionaries. Bob and I, along with our wives, were longtime friends and prayer partners. We lived side by side in CFN’s campus apartments. The last text I received from Bob was on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. He wrote, “Hey, Dennis and Ginger, I’m so sorry I have to miss the 50/50 conference. I tested positive for the fear virus today. Tell Kevin Jonas ‘hello.’ I love you guys.” Two weeks later Bob joined Debbie in heaven. Together they live and sing with the angels in the eternal presence of Jesus, Whom they sang about in this world. Our hearts go out to Daniella and Christian and their family. Our close friends will long be remembered for their encouragement and the joy they brought to our lives.

Bob Mason was a loyal man, not only committed to his wife and children but to the ministry and all he worked with. His passion for people led him to be a great encourager. He was a great musician and singer. However, what I remember most about him is his genuine faith in God—it knew no bounds. His work in the Amazon is worthy of a chapter in church history—not only the miracles that happened there, God sparing his life, people raised from the dead, but even entire tribes coming to Jesus. Bob loved my sister deeply and could not bring himself to remarry. He would always say, “He couldn’t find anyone like Debbie.”
