Athonet’s PriMo deployed in Spain
Mission Critical Comms – HighLighted No. 3
Spain’s first TD-LTE 2.6 GHz network deployed Athonet in partnership with Nokia Siemens Networks, the Consortium of Advanced Telecommunications (COTA) and WIMAX Online bring TD-LTE to Murcia, Spain for one of Europe’s earliest deployments of 2.6GHz TDD technology COTA, a new player in Spanish telecoms, in conjunction with Wimax Online has successfully completed the first LTE pilot in the region of Murcia, Spain, based on Athonet’s PriMo LTE Mobile Core Network solution and TD-LTE radio access by Nokia Siemens Networks. The two companies are to launch commercial broadband internet access services to customers by early fall of this year. Athonet’s PriMo solution enables a regional operator to light up one of Europe’s first TD-LTE networks. COTA, in collaboration with Wimax Online, is one of the best examples of a local operator who is first to the LTE market with a flexible and efficient business model. COTA acquired 10 MHz in the 2.6 GHz band auction in the summer of 2011 and immediately began to plan its field activities, while WIMAX Online will benefit from the wholesale LTE access provided by COTA.

They will provide DSL-like services in the Murcia region where access to Internet connections and VoIP, for example, is presently not possible. COTA also plans to provide television services through an IP-TV-platform in the future. The end-to-end TD-LTE winning solution is based on the innovative cost-efficient complete LTE mobile core network solution provided by Athonet and best in class Nokia Siemens Networks Flexi-BTS technology together with TD-LTE CPEs. Karim El Malki, Athonet’s CEO, stated “Our PriMo solution demonstrated once more that our customers can be first to the LTE market with a quick-to-deploy user-friendly system that provides high performance, high capacity and high reliability in a cost-efficient way. We’re pleased to work with forward-thinking operators like COTA and Wimax Online who are using LTE to extend high quality cost efficient IP services to consumers and businesses”.

Entrance to Europe: Feasibility study…
Mission Critical Comms – HighLighted No. 3
Your mission critical solutions versus the European market As a part of the CFocus E2E concept, the E2E Feasibility Study covers the ‘building blocks’ as shown in the diagram. We define a feasibility study as follows: To determine if a specific proposition can be successfully commercially launched into a specific target market or group. More concrete from a ‘E2E point of view’ it is an analysis and evaluation of a potential market launch providing information to answer the following questions: 1. Is it operational feasible 2. Is it feasible within the estimated costs 3. Will it be profitable in time (RoI) 4. Reflection towards the strategic importance

In other words: is it recommendable for you to invest in a European sales approach? To be able to answer the above question e.g. to evaluate your opportunities in the European market it is obvious that we consider a Feasibility Study to be an essential step. E2E Feasibility Study: what can we expect? In short, not a consulting story costing a fortune but concrete information and a down to earth advice if it is feasible to launch your proposition in certain European countries.
Mission Critical Comms – HighLighted No. 3
First step is to conduct a market scan in the selected target countries including competition analysis, purchasing patterns. We use our European network to determine the following feasibility aspects per target country e.g. market/group: •General impression of your proposition •Recommended positioning •Analyses of the competition •Recommended sales approach •Recommended modifications •Specific constraints •Market potential, short- and mid term •Short term opportunities Based on the results obtained above, the second step is, to engage with potential business partners who have experience with and/or have a concrete opportunity for your proposition. In parallel with the second step we more deeply investigate the requirements, if applicable of course, to obtain the specific (product) type approval for the local market.

Third step is to detect current local business opportunities, in general in close cooperation with the selected potential business partners. The fourth step is CFocus presenting to you the results of the Feasibility Study and determine together if it is recommendable for you to invest in a European sales approach.

E2E Feasibility Study: what will it cost? We use a fixed price based on the kind of proposition and the number of target countries e.g. markets involved. The average costs are € 3.800, excl. VAT based on a 2 months period and covering: •
The deliverables as mentioned under what can we expect?
•
The time commitment to gain the deliverables
•
Basic costs: salary, existing facilities, ICT etc.
•
Hotel and travelling costs
•
1…4 target countries
•
No additional costs other than client approved

Important: We have experienced that some of our clients managed to significantly fund the costs for a feasibility study conducted by CFocus, using the possibilities of EU or National Funding Programs stimulating export activities. We strongly advise to investigate if this is also applicable for your company!
