I’m Ariana, from grandview. I’m a banker, and I’m originally from Mexico, so in my spare time I help the Hispanic community with tax preparation and English as a Second Language. It’s very hard to come into a country where you don’t know the culture. Growing up as an immigrant, I feel the need to help out fellow immigrants.

I got involved in volunteering because of my mother, who was the director of international programs at an Ohio college. They called her the “mother of all the international students,” and we would come home to find our couches or beds missing, because she had given them away or loaned them to someone in need.

Advancing the Common Good United Way of Central Ohio is working to advance the common good by focusing on the building blocks for a good life: a quality education that leads to a productive career, enough income to support a family through retirement, good health, and a safe place to live. United Way’s Community Impact Fund supports ongoing programs that focus on improving lives in the areas of Education, Income, Health and Home. We bring together a broad range of community partners to ask questions, brainstorm solutions and develop a common vision to solve our community’s most pressing problems. Our goal is to create long-lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place. Join us.
