Institute of Mathematical Sciences

The Next Generation of Mathematical Scientists Claremont Graduate University (CGU) offers a variety of master’s and doctoral degrees through the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMS). CGU trains new generations of mathematical scientists for positions in education, industry, and government laboratories. The Institute maintains a strong applied research component through its internationally recognized Engineering & Computational Mathematics Clinic, offering students first-hand experiences in solving significant mathematical problems for industry and government clients.

Address and Solve Pressing Challenges in All Areas of Science and Engineering IMS offers a variety of degree programs with a strong applied research component. ■ Specialize in computational and applied math, statistical sciences, financial engineering, industrial and engineering applied math, computational sciences, and other areas of applied and pure math ■ Tap the resources of all of The Claremont Colleges’ mathematics programs and faculty through the Claremont Center for the Mathematical Sciences ■ Benefit from first-hand experience in solving significant mathematical problems for industry and government clients through our internationally recognized clinic program

Mathematical Problems in Industry Workshops bring industrial trends to campus and alert industry to new techniques in academia Engage in research seminars and colloquia offered by IMS together with the five other mathematics departments within The Claremont Colleges Join a network of over 600 registered alumni

Mathematics in Claremont Claremont is home to one of the largest mathematical science communities in California. The Claremont Center for the Mathematical Sciences brings together over 60 applied and pure mathematics faculty from six departments at The Claremont Colleges. Program
