MARIE RIVIER, woman of interiority with a burning heart
Filled with the Holy Spirit, she knew
that all evil comes from the fact that we do not always have our eyes turned towards God: "Let us work from within," she said, "the first of our works is the work of the heart.
WORD OF GOD for us Ph 4: 4 -7
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.
THE WORD OF GOD for us: Ph 4, 4 -7
Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Reflection :
She thought of God in the midst of her constant labors, and everything that she saw
and heard served as a means of raising her mind and heart to him. She saw God in all
things.
RÉFLEXION :
elle s’était fait dans son cœur une solitude où elle
savait le trouver, se tenir bien humble et petite en sa présence, l’interroger et l’écouter, lui offrir des
sacrifices, She had made for herself a place of solitude in her own heart, a place where she knew
she would find him, where she would make herself very small and humble in his presence…
Reflection :
There, in the solitude of her heart, she would purify her intentions of all human views, so that she might
comply in all things to the spirit of Christ, , to the dispositions of his Heart, to the maxims of his
Gospel. This is what she sometimes called “the work of the heart”… (Marie Rivier, Her Spirit and Virtues, p. 20 - 21)
