Shema Koleinu We recite the Shema Koleinu a number of times over the course of Yom Kippur. In the synagogue setting, the ark containing the sacred Torah scrolls is opened for this prayer, and the congregation recites the following verses in unison.
ְק ֵּבל ַ ו,ְר ֵחם ָע ֵלינּו ַ חּוס ו,קינּו ֵ א ֱ 'קֹולנּו ה ֵ ְׁש ַמע .ּוב ָרצֹון ֶאת ְּת ִפ ָל ֵתנּו ְ ֲמים ִ ְּב ַרח .ָמינּו ְּכ ֶק ֶדם ֵ ַח ֵדׁש י,ָׁשּובה ָ יבנּו ה' ֵא ֶליָך ְונ ֵ ֲׁש ִה .ת ַקח ִמ ֶמנּו ִּ שָך ַאל ׁ ְ ְרּוח ָק ְד ַ ו,יכנּו ִמ ְל ָפנֶיָך ֵ ש ִל ׁ ְת ַּ ַאל .ְבנּו ֵ ִּכ ְכלֹות ּכ ֵֹחנּו ַאל ַּת ַעז,ִקנָה ְ יכנּו ְל ֵעת ז ֵ ַאל ַּת ְׁש ִל Hear our voice, L-rd our G-d, have pity and compassion upon us, and accept our prayer with mercy and favor. Return us back to You, L-rd, and we will return. Renew our days as of old. Do not cast us out of your presence, and do not take Your spirit of holiness away from us. Do not cast us aside in old age; do not forsake us when our strength fails.
