Is it true that listening to music in class boosts students’ thinking performance?

Question: Is it true that listening to music in class boosts students thinking performance?

Prediction: I think it would be unlikely to succeed when you’re listening to K-pop, but I think it would be likely to succeed when you’re listening to classic music, nature sounds, or just quiet.

Hypothesis: I think it would be unlikely to succeed when you’re listening to K-pop, but I think it would be likely to succeed when you’re listening to classic music, nature sounds, or just quiet because music that’s very distracting, like K-Pop can distract the subject from doing their math correctly, and music that’s relaxing, like classic music, nature sounds, or just quiet, can make the subject think clearly.

Procedure: Step 1: Get 8 students from 2nd grade, 4 girls and 4 boys. Make them do subtraction problems on their IXLs and listen to music at the same time. The 4 girls listen to either K-Pop, classic, nature sounds, or just quiet. The 4 boys also listen to K-Pop, classic, nature sounds, or just quiet. Time it to 2 minutes. Step 2: Get 8 students from 3rd grade, 4 girls and 4 boys. Make them do multiplication problems on their IXLs and listen to music at the same time. Repeat the test similar to 2nd grade. Step 3: Get 8 students from 4th grade, 4 girls and 4 boys. Make them do division problems on their IXLs and listen to music at the same time. Repeat the test similar to 2nd grade. Materials: Earphones, the subjects’ computer, eight 2nd, eight 3rd, and eight 4th grade subjects, and treats. This applies in our life because If I’m am working on my homework, I don’t listen to anything, so I thought the subjects who listened and did their IXLs at the same time would get higher scores than the subjects who listened to K-Pop, Classic, or nature sounds. But I was wrong! The subjects who listened to classic music got the highest scores! I really enjoyed doing this science experiment and I think I should try listening to classic music when I do my homework!
