DID YOU KNOW...

Only 11 percent of people in low-income countries have received a dose of a coronavirus vaccine, compared with 78 percent in high- and upper-middle-income countries, according to the Our World in Data project at the University of Oxford. Africa has the lowest vaccination rate of any continent, with just 15.4 percent of the population receiving at least one dose. A Presidential delegation went to Liberia to attend the bicentennial celebration which officially launched this week (Feb. 14,2022) in the capital city of Monrovia. The celebration marked the arrival of the first free Black Americans to Providence Island on Jan. 7, 1822, which led to the establishment of the city of Monrovia, and in 1847, the Republic of Liberia. Between 1822 and the American Civil War in 1861, some 15,000 African Americans settled in Liberia. The West African nation became the first democratic republic in Africa’s history upon its 1847 independence. This January, when the U.S. State Department issued a statement to commemorate the initial arrival of African Americans to Liberia 200 years ago, it acknowledged the racist nature of the American Colonization Society (ACS). They are the group that purchased land in Liberia to resettle free Black people in Africa in order to deal with the “problem” of the growing number of free Blacks in the United States.

What that boost is really doing overtime is stressing out your system. The metabolic specific supplements can create increased heart rates, high blood pressure, stroke & palpitations and heart attacks, damage the stomach, liver , kidneys and throw your entire system totally out of whack. If you want to increase your metabolism safely steer clear of those supplements and have fun using the power of healthy food to boost your metabolism! And yes, drop the junk food, processed, fatty fried foods, excessive alcohol and sugary beverage consumption not to mention ditch the couch potato habit.

Leah Outside of moderate cardiovascular exercise

Hamilton like running, swift walking, swimming and aerobics that stimulate your metabolism, as well as when and how much you eat, here are some foods that can naturally help improve your metabolism: *Water- Starting the day with a full glass of water to jump start your metabolism and drinking more water in general is a great help. Water alone helps burn calories and can do so by 30% if you drink as much as 17 oz . (two glasses instead of one). *Citrus -The citric acid in fruits like limes, lemons, oranges, grapefruit ,pineapples and other citrus fruits can help increase 'the burn'. Adding them to the water first thing in the morning can really turn up your "internal furnace." *Nuts - makes your body burn more fat to digest them so snacking on almonds, walnuts and other un-salted nuts are excellent. *Fruits and Vegetables - fiber rich apples, bananas, mixed berries are excellent. Melons, avocados cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts contain loads of fiber and nutrients that empower your metabolism. *Spices- (you don't need much ) like chili pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic, cinnamon, and even mustard can boost the metabolism by up to 25-35 percent. They contain ‘capsaicin’, which has the power to turn up the heat and helps your body burn more energy. *Beans like black beans, red beans fully loaded with fiber are metabolic boosters. *Iron Rich Foods- like lentils, spinach, tofu, lean meats and fish. *Whole Grains- Brown rice, oatmeal, and whole grain breads are more difficult for your body to break down, causing it to work harder and burn more calories. Electricity and Ancestry Black History Food Fact:

From 1915 to 1923 African American botanist and scientist, George Washington Carver’s studies concentrated on researching and experimenting with new uses for peanuts, sweet potatoes, soybeans, pecans, and other crops . His in-depth studies of the peanut led to over 300 uses for the peanut. This includes a Cooperative Extension bulletin for farmers which contains over one hundred food recipes using peanuts.

According to Nur Ankh Amen in his classic book, “The Ankh: African Origin of Electromagnetism,” Africans of the Nile Valley region some 5,000 years ago were adept in uses of electricity. This is a powerful book to check out. Buffalo Native Opens First Black Woman-Owned Electrolysis Studio In The Theater District In Downtown Buffalo

Rabiyyah Khan, entrepreneur and professional Electrologist, was first introduced to electrolysis as a client. The success of those treatments resulted in her journey to further study the practice. “As a Black Woman stumbling through her own personal hair jourRabiyyah Khan, ney I felt I could help owner of Biyya relate to clientele who Beauty struggled with similar Electrolysis hair removal traumas,” she said. Buffalo born and raised, she recently opened her own studio, “Biyyah Beauty, Electrolysis by Rabiyyah” located at Sinclair’s Salon & Spa, 700 Main Street in the Theatre District. “As a new mother, I found comfort in rebranding myself as an entrepreneur,” she continued. “I practiced in Manhattan and now taking the opportunity to build my own beauty business as the first Black owned electrolysis practice in Western New York.” Rabiyyah’s qualifications and experience are impressive. She received her certification of specialized training in Theory and Practice of Electrolysis from Berkowits School of Electrolysis in Queens, NY. and provided treatment as an Independent Practitioner with some of the top agencies offering permanent hair removal in Manhattan. In those roles she treated clients in all facets and all walks of life. She’s adept in offering those services to her transgendered clientele and more specifically in preparation for reassignment surgeries. She specializes in multiple methods of electrolysis including thermolysis and blend. Additionally, she’s trained and experienced in multi-needle galvanic electrolysis. -Science & Beauty-

The science of beauty and fashion has always intrigued Rabiyyah. A graduate of The Buffalo Academy for the Performing Arts, she holds degrees from the Fashion Institute of Technology and Full Sail University in Arts and Sciences which has allowed her to experience and enjoy Textile Engineering and also Production Management for high fashion events. Her private practice as an Electrologist is backed by years of acquiring expertise in precision and the desire to help others. She expressed gratitude to the Maclin family, owners of Chopafellaz, who has welcomed Biyyah Beauty into Sinclair's Salon and Spa . Biyyah Beauty is open from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

“In pioneering this Electrolysis Studio, Biyyah Beauty service hopes to continue educating and encouraging others to seek treatment for unwanted hair,” she concluded. “Electrolysis is the only FDA approved method for permanent hair removal through a series of treatments to destroy the hair growth cycle.” (To schedule a consultation call or text (716)249-1346.
