CONNECTING CORK Karen Conboy – New Chair of the Cork Financial Services Forum
Karen Conboy assumed the role of Chair of the Cork Financial Services Forum in May. Karen, the resident partner in KPMG Cork’s Financial Services practice, brings a wealth of experience, energy and ideas to the role having served as vice-chair of the Forum for the past three years. Karen takes over from Eoin Motherway who stepped down after 15 years involvement with the Forum.
David Bennett, Partner at EY Cork, was elected as vice-chair of the Forum in June and has been an active member of the forum since he established EY’s financial services office in Cork in 2019.
On accepting the role of Chair, Karen outlined her ambitions for the International Financial Services (IFS) sector in Cork and what she wants to achieve during her tenure:
“Cork is Ireland’s second city for financial services and I am excited to lead our Forum group as we look to maximise the opportunities for further development of the sector in the region through engagement with industry, government, educators and all stakeholders in the IFS sector. In particular, the ability to attract and develop the next generation of IFS talent in Cork will be key to achieving the Forum’s ambitions for Cork IFS”.
The Cork Financial Services Forum, led by Karen and David, has an exciting and ambitious programme of activity for the remainder of 2023. The industryled Forum works together to enhance a vibrant IFS ecosystem, promote Cork as a destination for investment and talent, and provide a supportive environment for existing businesses, potential new entrants and their teams.
We wish Karen every success and look forward to supporting her and David during their term.
