Omphoy Ocean Resort Hosts December Member Mixer

Chamber Member Mixers are among the most popular events on the Chamber’s calendar. They stand out from the breakfasts, committee meeting and seminars in that there is no agenda, no speaker, and no special format. They are pure networking, an opportunity to work the room and make new contacts, while enjoying a fun evening out.

enjoy the ocean views and elegant veranda. A member’s only event, the December 10th event closed the 2009 Member Mixer Series on a festive note. For information on upcoming 2010 Member Mixers, visit the Chamber website. www.palmbeaches.org or contact Kelley Burke at (561) 833-3711 ext 231 or kburke@palmbeaches.org.

They are also an opportunity to visit a new venue! It might be a restaurant, nightclub or event facility, newly-opened and hot on the list of places to see and be seen. Such was the case with the December Member Mixer held at the Omphoy Ocean Resort. Chamber members were anxious to see the newest hotel to open on Palm Beach, experience its ocean terrace and taste the offerings coming out of the kitchen and on the beautiful dessert buffet. Chamber members were delighted with the ambience of the hotel; many perched at the lobby bar while others headed outside to

Chamber Perks Membership Helps Your Bottom Line!

M

embership in the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches has a vast array of benefits. Among them are inclusion in the many marketing tools that the Chamber produces and networking and leadership opportunities. There are avenues for making new contacts, gaining new clients and building your business. There are other ways in which the Chamber assists its members and one of them is through affinity programs. These are discount programs that save members money. Some of the programs come to our members through the Chamber’s association with the Florida Chamber of Commerce; others come in the form of member-to-member discounts. The Florida Chamber Federation works with local chambers of commerce across Florida and develops member benefits packages with substantial cost savings. The collective negotiating and buying power of the Federation allows for discounts that can have a powerful effect on members’ businesses. Examples of these programs include insurance services dedicated to the needs of small businesses, discounts on shipping services and office supplies. The most popular of these is the Office Depot program that offers deep discounts on office supplies. Many of the Chamber’s members offer special programs for fellow members in the form of a member-to-member discount. When you are looking for products and services, remember to contact Chamber members in that business category and see if they are offering a memberto-member discount on that particular item. Whether you are buying a new fax machine or having your office painted, these discounts can have a positive impact on your bottom line.

6

Business Watch

When promoting your business to Chamber members, don’t forget to include a member-tomember discount in your marketing plan. This is an excellent way to provide an incentive for the members to select your company’s product or service in their purchasing and budgeting process. It’s a way for them to experience what it is that makes your company unique. Incentive programs can also play an important role in your client retention efforts. Once you have created a “fan”, they will stay with you forever and your competition will have a hard time wooing them away from you. When looking at your company’s participation in the Chamber, don’t forget to take advantage of cost savings discount plans. Both sides of the coin, the selling and the purchasing side benefit from the relationship. It’s an example of the power of belonging to one of the strongest business organizations in the country and one that you don’t want to miss! For more information on the benefits of Chamber membership, contact Kelly Fanelli, Membership Director, at (561) 833-3711 ext. 235 or kfanelli@palmbeaches.org.

YPOP- Chic, Charitable and Celebratory

T

“

he Young Professionals of the Palm Beaches jingled their bells and had lots of cheer at their Holiday party on Thursday, December 10. The holiday event was graciously hosted by the famous and trendy Hotel Biba in West Palm Beach. The Young Professionals enjoyed perfect weather under the stars in the very Zen, yet beautifully holiday decorated courtyard and bar area.

It was refreshing to network with others who are professionals yet are in a younger age bracket. I met many like-minded and ambitious people and was able to exchange lots of ideas for my business as well as theirs. I am happy to be a part of this organization and am looking forward to upcoming events!

In addition to celebrating the past year, these young go-getters helped less fortunate children in Palm Beach County, ensuring that they have gifts for this holiday season. New unwrapped toys were taken at registration and given to the Salvation Army to add to their Angel Tree Program. A very big THANK YOU to Hotel Biba for hosting the Holiday Party and to the Salvation Army for organizing the YPOP toy drive.

Introducing: One-On-One 101

he Chamber is always looking for ways to add value to membership and engage members in a productive and profitable way. The Open House Coffees offer a complete overview of the Chamber’s programs and services and are recommended for new members and those interested in learning about what the Chamber offers. Member Money Makers are a mini-seminar in networking skills, preparing members to participate in the many events the Chamber provides. What’s the next step? One On One 101 is a new event to the Chamber calendar in response to members requesting more direction in developing relationships within the Chamber, forming strategic alliances for referrals and making the most of their Chamber investment. It’s a step by step approach to establishing a plan for setting meetings, following an agenda and tracking success. It takes networking contacts generated from events and directs them into productive one-on-one meetings. Whether you’re new to the Chamber, not yet a member or a member of long standing, this event will get you on the track to starting 2010 with a plan of action and a tracking system to ensure your success. RSVP to join us for the first session of OneOn-One 101, scheduled for Thursday, January 28th at 8:30 a.m. in the Chamber boardroom. For more information on this event and Chamber benefits, contact Kelly Fanelli at (561) 833-3711 ext. 235 or kfanelli@palmbeaches.org.
