TRAVEL BY RAIL

This past year, Amtrak made a significant investment in Historic Downtown Toccoa. You may not know that Toccoa’s Amtrak station is one of only three stops in the State of Georgia. The Crescent runs from Penn Station in New York City all the way down to New Orleans, Louisiana. And we’re pleased to say that you can stop right here on the way (though we’d like to consider ourselves a destination location)!

Well, Amtrak has invested over a million dollars (that’s six zeroes) into revitalizing their platform, which now includes a raised concrete platform all the way to Sage Street, historic lighting the length of the platform, and even a handicapped chair lift for boarding the train.
The platform is state-of-the-art and is now one of the newest Amtrak platform in the United States! A welcoming first impression to the downtown historic district, we’d like to encourage you to come out and visit our Railway Viewing Platform and watch the trains. Even better, visit Ionosphere Travel in Downtown Toccoa and book your next trip on the Crescent and experience something new somewhere else.
