The Chaminade Dance Program offers training in all styles for all levels. Students can enroll in the dance elective to receive art credit or physical education credit. The dance elective course encompasses the exploration of different dance styles such as ballet, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, musical theater, and hip hop. Students discover through guided instruction, the role of aesthetics, creativity, expression, purpose, and teamwork with regards to dance. Students will participate in kinesthetic, oral, and written work designed to foster musical interpretation and a personal discovery of movement. Students will use this instruction to begin basic skills in choreography and performance.

The Chaminade Dance Company is an audition based pre-professional dance group that performs in various school-wide events and in the end-of-semester productions. This is the most elite group of dancers on campus who get to work with outside, professional guest choreographers This group meets twice a week directly after school

AbouttheDirector

Jacqueline Ward graduated in 2019 from Chapman University with a B.A. in Dance and a B.S. in Business Administration. After graduation, she signed with a talent agency and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in commercial dance. She has danced in music videos, theme park shows, as back up for musical artists, in the Super Bowl, and with professional dance crew, The Jabbawockeez. She is currently in her 4th year dancing for an NFL team. She serves as captain and was named the 2022 Probowl Cheerleader. Professional dancing has taken her to South Korea, England, Portugal, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Hawaii, Nevada, and Australia. This is her second year teaching at Chaminade, and she is so grateful to be sharing her passion for dance with her students!
