Seeds of the Project Chicago Academy of Music, organized a benefit in November 2015 where the musicians from the academy had a concert and to make it more dynamic, they asked various creative people to show their work like Sandro Miller and Lucy Slivinski. The orchestra was conducted by Kahil El’Zabar. Katrin Schnabl was part of this creative event, where she showed pieces from her collection. Parks Dene, who is on the board of DanceWorks, was a major part of the event from Katrin’s team.

Katrin Schnabl
DanceWorks Chicago is committed to building a foundation for early career artists by providing a laboratory from which dancers and choreographers propel themselves and the art form to a new level of artistry through training, collaboration, mentorship, and performance. Unique to Chicago’s cultural landscape, DWC’s efforts to nurture and convene the next generation of artists, audience, and dance citizens, inspires, empowers, and contributes to a sustainable future for dance.
Katrin Schnabl strives to empower women by creating clothes that reflect their dynamic lives, while enhancing their personal sense of style. A trained dancer and skilled pattern-maker, Schnabl fuses her two passions to create sophisticated and modern clothes that move sensuously on the body. The designer is known for combining luxurious fabrics, unique color combinations, and unexpected details to create collections that transcend trends and seasons. It is part of a unique vision to re-think the meaning of luxury, by nurturing a direct link between the designer and the women who wear her clothes.

Project Brief A collaboration between the Katrin Schnabl Collection and DanceWorks Chicago, the project is an unconventional way for a fashion studio and a dance company to mutually support each other’s visions. The process highlights the role of research in the collaboration – looking at inspirational styling, cohesiveness of the group, style guides, fittings and as well as stepping stones like photo shoot, live studio event and future touring of Europe.
