View Platform The building forms a great viewing platform for a combination of brackets and modern building construction technology as the support structure.
Load-Bearing Basis According to the structural brackets that evolve into load-bearing basis, inherits the advantage of brackets multi-point support, large-scale cantilever and tight combination etc. Combines brackets with wooden structure, reinforced concrete structure and steel structure, and then converses the material which can overcome the limitations of the wood material itself, so that the possibilities of building design in more shape and scale can be achieved.

Glass Cub e The Central Channel
Four glass cubes place on top of a steel load-bearing basis; its main features include viewing, dining, and interactive display etc. Completely transparent glass curtain wall structure makes the panoramic view of beautiful scenery.
The central channel connected the whole structure together, playing the role of reinforcement of the building structure. It is like a huge viewing cableway takes visitors into the other side of the cliff area. In the entire ride, visitors can enjoy the beautiful view through the glass wall. Moreover, the inside space is interspersed with open platforms which will give tourists more fun. From psychological point of view, the huge-scale reinforced concrete structural frame could have brought some sense of oppression. But the spatial variation of transparent glass wall and grassland platforms are able to compensate it.
Lobby Unlike the brackets part, this part is not very high, but level area is enlarged, and it makes full use of the roof space. Functionally, this part of the construction focuses on dining, showing a variety of integrated functions of the service interaction. Of course, viewing, and enjoying the nature are always a spiritual part that exists everywhere. The large area of the roof garden and glass curtain wall also illustrates this concept.

The contrast between the huge scale frame and small-scale grassplatform. The alternation of Open space and small space. The alternation of the view of natural and landscape architecture. The contrast between the people moving in the channel and sitting in the platforms. All of these will make the channel space full of fun.

INDUSTRIAL | PUBLIC Short Port, New Bedford imagines the transformation of State Pier into a working short sea shipping port and a public waterfront. Industrial ports have left a legacy of pollution and economic bubbles. Waterfronts without marine industry, become susceptible to gentrification, development and tourism. Short Port envisions the two programs coexisting. Short sea shipping offers the opportunity for low carbon import of large scale building components. The expanding agile shipping industry provides a revenue stream to subsidize public activities on the pier. The transformation will culturally invigorate the waterfront area by focusing both on the performative qualities of the act of shipping and programmatic overlaps such as markets. Furthermore, short sea shipping will be integral to the construction of the new pier through the act of transporting both the large structural framework and raw materials to the site. 86

INTERSECTION
By lifting up the public space and intersecting with industrial space on the ground, the pier will be able to maintain the full founction as a industrial pier (a short sea shipping port and a fishing port) while allow visitor to fully experience the characteristic of the pier/the city.

At the same time, the working people actually become part of the public, which create a new urban condition giving the city a new life. The building becomes a new image of the city and continuously bring energy into this old fishing town.

CATENARY Catenary is the geometry that takes on the shape of a hanging chain or cable that’s supported at two end points, and supposed to be only under its own weight. The interesing part is that when two catenaries connect to each other, the location of the connecting point in space would shift, and the catenary curves’ resulting form will also change due to their mutural forces. What we’re trying to do is to drawing precise shapes in space using the intersecting line of catenaries, by controlling pre-determined factors, namely anchor points and string lengths. Catenary is considered to be the perfect geometry that combines physics principles and aesthetic values, thus has interested many artists to experiment on it, The way that artificial elements ( lines) are embeded in the midsts of natural shapes( curves) allows for the conversation between nature and design process. When the catenary curves array, they can produce topological surfaces.
