CHANNAHON PARKS FOUNDATION
The People for Channahon Parks (PFCP) Foundation was formed in 2009. A 501(c)3 not for profit organization, PFCP solicits support for the Channahon Park District through volunteerism, gifts and grants, memberships, and planned giving opportunities. Under a mission statement of “providing opportunities for the preservation of open space and the development of recreational opportunities within the Channahon Park District”, PFCP is an important asset to expanding the quality of life the area enjoys. The Foundation Board of Trustees includes President Michael F. Rittof; Vice President Scott Slocum; and Trustees DeWitt Buchanan, Joanne Carnagio, John Cotter, David Landahl, Ronald D. Lehman, Raymond McSteen, Tim Rissman, David Rumsey, and Jayne Yudzentis. Honorary Trustees are George Barr and George A. McCoy. The Foundation is working with the Park District to raise funds and develop the district’s newest park - Arroyo Trails, A Discovery Woodlands. It is expected that the unique project will attract youth, families, schools, scouts, camps and others. Preliminary features include trails, an outdoor classroom, interpretive stations, a shelter with restrooms, educational areas, and nature based play including a unique playground.
