DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

As an interior designer, I believe there is a difference between good design and great design. The difference between these two is interaction. A great design will seamlessly interpret the interaction between the designer and client as well as, the interaction between the space and the people who occupy it. I value design as my tool to create and improve the way people connect within the space by producing designs that are accessible and adaptable.
“Good design is obvious. Great design is transparent. - Joe Sparano

An independent hotel owner seeks an innovative design for their guest room to help attract guests to their upscale hotel that is located on Cazenovia Lake, in Cazenovia, NY. The owner has a strong passion for art and is looking to use a piece of artwork as the focal point of the hotel’s guest rooms. The chosen artwork is then to be used as inspiration behind the design of the guest rooms.
S O L U T I O N:
The Wanderlust Hotel draws inspiration from Isabelle Zacher Finets’ abstract painting, “Windgeflüster”. The inspiration of the painting is especially reflective in the hotel’s king ADA suite through the bold colors, textures and shimmering finishes.

O B J E C T I V E:
Grace and Garrit Fisher are a couple in their early 30’s who are building a brand new farmhouse-style house in Cazenovia, New York. They are looking for a kitchen space that can accommodate their growing family and occasional company. Grace and Garrit love the traditional look of a kitchen with a rustic Tuscan flare. They have asked for a few specific elements to be incorporated into her new kitchen such as contrasting cabinetry, dark flooring, coffered ceiling, copper and/or bronze finishes and lastly statement lighting to top it off.
S O L U T I O N:
The Fisher kitchen now has an U-shaped floor plan that creates an ample amount of space to occupy multiple people at one time. This kitchen design features elegant raised panel dark espresso base cabinets in contrast to the creamy white upper cabinets with a blend of glass front doors. The molding follows the arches of the wall cabinetry showing off a country flare which then leads the eye to the distressed beams of the coffered ceiling. Elements like the stone and glass blacksplash, granite counter tops and copper finishes complete the rustic Tuscan look the Fisher family was looking for.
