HISTORY Bangkok Railway Station, also known as Hua Lamphong station is Thailand's most significant and oldest center of rail transport. In 1916 Bangkok Station was designed and constructed by foreign architects and engineers built in an Italian Neo-Renaissance style. Hua Lamphong was a combined railway station: it transported goods and people. The station is an air-conditioned two-story building consisting of two main entrances, 12 platforms, 22 ticket counters, and two electric display boards, with one mega television screen. Above two entrances to the platforms are large pictures showing the beginning of Thai railway history. The station is also a terminus of the Eastern and Oriental Express luxury trains and the International Express to Malaysia. On 25 June 2019, the 103rd anniversary of Hua Lamphong was celebrated. This station has been said to be one of the most modern buildings of all time and has been in continuous use for over a hundred years. In 2021 this transportation hub was scheduled to be closed as a railway station and move to Bang Sue Central Station instead. However, this area is still full of historical value as a connection point between the eras. Surrounding communities are both the old neighborhood and the business district that should be preserved and converted into a museum. Moreover, This historical area has the potential of improving people's quality of life and ability to solve the environmental problems of Bangkok. Therefore this design competition has been created for anyone to present ideas which responds to the needs and activities for the future of the city in terms of society, economy, culture, and environment, as well as continuing the benefits of historical value. PUBLIC SPACE
Another big challenge in Bangkok is to create a quality of life for people in Hua Lamphong community which is known as Bangkok's largest homeless area, including homeless people who lack access to proper care. Moreover, Hua Lamphong is also full of illegal street vendors on pavements which necessarily need to be managed. This new Hua Lamphong project designed to organise a space for the homeless and street vendors will solve the district's problem and genuinely increase a new life for those people.
Some say that a truly great city at least has a few parks. Bangkok is one of the world's most green space shortages, with an average green area of only 0.98 sq m/person. Causing the heat, flooding, dust, and PM2.5, The lack of green space also affects drainage, which has been a major problem in Bangkok for a long time. Therefore these plenties of green spaces provide city people to enjoy a casual stroll after a long day of working and benefit both the environment and the quality of life.
Public spaces are an important component of the urban area used to support various activities. The lack of public spaces which provide people in the community a gathering place is a big obstacle in the development of people's lives. Hua Lamphong is located in the middle of the old town like Yaowarat which is full of elderly and the new urban areas like Samyan, Chula, and Silom which is a modern-day city and main business district. As the connection point of the generations, this project is suitable as a public space that will connect people of all ages.
HUALUMPHONG
CONCEPT SPACE TO REMEMBER
Preserving as many historic elements as possible is a key to the design goal. For instance, the entire significant building surface will be preserved, and to maintain the architectural value, only 30% of the railway track will be demolished to create an open space. All of this is to show Hua Lamphong as the old centre of transportation for future generations to see the hundred years of history through this area.
SPACE FOR MULTIPLE GENERATIONS
Since this area is located between the space of 2 generations, it is important to create a space to meet the needs of people of all ages. Not only to improve the quality of life for both generations but also to reduce the age gap. enabling the young and the elderly to live together peacefully with a learning area for children, an athletics field and activity area that is accessible to teenagers, and an area for retirees to relax. All in one area which is divided properly is designed to solve the issue of different ages and be able to connect them together.
SPACE FOR LEARNING
Historical buildings will be transformed into a large living museum. Every building will be changed into an exhibition room to tell the story of the Thai railway industry and show the importance of each building. The entire building is connected by a long skywalk that allows visitors to experience a new perspective on the station that has never been seen before. In addition, corridors for landscape management studies for solving flood and environmental problems were also created.
SPACE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
The landscape design aims to make this park the third largest public park in Bangkok. This Re-image Hua Lamphong project goal is to solve the issue of shortage of green areas and contribute to reducing environmental problems of the city. The entire park area blends in perfectly with the old railroad tracks by using their long curved lines as landscape elements. In order to deal with the flooding crisis, wetlands have been created, as well as detention areas and retention ponds. In addition, this environment is also a collection of various plants for nature study.

This project will suitable for all homelesses who have skills or lack of skills since there will be vocational training center. A large group of people who also need residential area while they have to wait for their next train overnight are still do not get proper management. YU SABAI is going to solve this residential area issue by emphasizing on equality amond residents and uplifting their living standards. With simple design and nice ventilation, this project will animportant step to improve Thai society.
The unemployment problem is another problem that must be solved, especially in today's world where jobs are more difficult to find due to the high competition, including the covid situation. The project has set up a career development center.Residents would get the opportunity to prepare for the labor market. There are also jobs opportunities available, for example cultivating rooftop kitchen gardens, creating a beautiful view for the project and source of income for the residence. The rooftop space itself became a work place and meeting place for residents.
This project uplifts Bangkok to be a better place to live by solving the quality of life problems of people in the community, reducing inequality and improving the well-being of low-income people to have a place in society. It is a building that is beneficial to society, taking into account what people still lack. The building blends in with the surrounding area and desroys racial discrimination. Making Bangkok a friendly and welcoming space through the design process, whole residential area and common areas aims to include library area and vocational skills training center.
BETTER PLACE DUE TO COVID-19 The outbreak of the covid-19 virus is a new problem that must be taken into account a lot nowadays. Therefore, the design of the space must be disease-safe. Public spaces in the future will need privacy and greater distance. The style of the building must also be suitable for this new daily life, through a more intense access system or structures that can be easily disassembled and maintaining equal social needs.

COMBINATION BETWEEN IMBER AND GLASS DESIGN PROJECT
WOOD EN GLASS
wooden glass
ABOUT “Wood En Glass” is the last project of year 2, semester2: community library. The project is a community library in a Bangkok suburb. The site is a small community located between 2 canals in Taling Chan district. This place is considered as one of the oldest communities in Thailand, with a long history of more than 500 years. Although nowadays, countless new modern architecture is built, the culture remains. Local people still live traditionally. The main purpose of this project is to create an area to be a public library where anyone can visit this learning, recreation, and communal space. The design concept is "Wood En Glass" which is a combination of two materials; wood and glass. Wood is a symbol of conservation. It also blends in with the scenery and the surrounding area that is Thai traditional houses. Meanwhile, glass is a symbol of modernness providing airy space and bringing us close to nature and contemporary buildings. Therefore, using two different materials is a perfect mixture of the old and new architecture.

FLOATING LIBRARY FOR RIVERSIDE COMMUNITY DESIGN PROJECT
LANTERN
LANTERN FLOATING LIBRARY
SITE LAYOUT
CONCEPT Lantern is part of the community library located on the canal in Taling Chan. Taling Chan, Bang Ramat, and Bang Chueak Nang were regarded as among Bangkok's oldest communities. The project is inspired by the character of "Lantern" which significantly represents Thainess. Lantern (Yi Peng) is a traditional Lanna festival that takes place in Northern Thailand, sometimes called the Festival of Light. Unlike the waterfront pavilion, this library can be used for several functions. The shape is simplified from traditional Thai lanterns with hexagon plans. There is a connection between canal and land with a path made of bamboo. At night, it performs as a lantern with a light but floats on the canal instead of hanging in the sky. This design aims to be the place to relax and unwind, including a reading area and a small exhibition for the community. Surrounding the woods and suburban community, most of this project material is timber to blend in with nature.
LANTERN
MATERIAL The primary material that has been used is timber as a floor structure. The bridge across the canal is made of bamboo. There is a mirror attached to the wooden slats to make the area wider. The interior is not only used as the reading area but also can be a multipurpose area by removing the bookshelf out to create a small exhibition. The floating structure is about the pontoon principle in which one makes a solid platform, lighter than the water, and the other is based on the ship in which a hollow concrete box is created and opened on the top.

THE OUTDOOR RESIDENTIAL BUILDING, 2020
LOW RISE APARTMENT DESIGN PROJECT
THE OUTDOOR
CONCEPT The Outdoor Residential is the first project of year 3, semester 1: the residential building which is a low rise apartment consisting of 6 floors with 20 units of studio and 1-bedroom units. The main concept of the building is the importance of the open space allowing residents to have an outdoor area. With landscape for an individual unit, a private view is created separately from the surrounding which is the chaotic city. The project allows residents to relax and have the most privacy as much as the site can provide. Design theories are also used to analyse human needs, as well as space and behaviors due to the environment.
THE OUTDOOR
HUMAN NEEDS PSYCHOLOGICAL NEEDS The most significant factor of the Residential design process is residents. All Users have desire in addition to housing, which is one of the four physical needs. The design relating to the space and dwellers is very influential. SENCE OF IDENTITY This apartment is extraordinary and uniquely different from the surrounding area with characteristic space that is perfectly designed. The Green area is visible from outside the project creating identity and piquancy.

FRAME OF ORIENTATION The areas are divided into separate units. Classification by activity helps address the need to have a frame of orientation in basic life. This method of makes space easy to comprehend and does not invade each other's personal space. WAYFINDING This project has been designed in a well-organised layout that is easy to understand. Without the need of information systems or signs, the wayfinding results in correct behaviour and obvious accessibility.
THE OUTDOOR
SPACE AND BEHAVIOR
OVERT BEHAVIOR TERRITORIALITY The division of territory between floors according to users and separating each unit apart by green area allows resident to feel secure and not be captured. PERSONAL SPACE BEHAVIOR The space between each unit helps to separate people from each other and create a proper distance. However, residents still feel immediate to each other, in a proper distance that still feel relaxed and comfortable.

HOMEY
ABOUT The project located on the top of the parking building is a common area that consists of fitness, a swimming pool, and other facilities. This common area is inspired by the warmth of accommodation which allows you to feel safe and welcome. The significant materials that have been used are timber and concrete, creating an environment that we are all familiar with. Unpleasant scenery like parking floors is decorated by simple elements like timber slats and local plants. On the other hand, a courtyard landscape emphasizes the area. TREEPICAL HOUSE ECO-FRIENDLY HOUSING, 2020
ECO-FRIENDLY AND SUSTAINABLE HOUSING DESIGN PROJECT
TREEPICAL HOUSE
CONCEPT Treepical House is a combination between trees, typical, and house which is an identity of the project. With plants and simplicity, it may seem like a typical home, but there are hidden functions that are suitable and worthwhile due to the limitations of the urban area. "Tree" is one of the highlights of the house by bringing nature closer to residents. Designing the house around the trees instead of planting around will meet the need for green space in a small area. To increase the privacy in the city and maintain the natural looks, a wooden facade is applied. Meanwhile, no side has been ignored.

Energy saving is created from the simplest structure, creating space for ventilation throughout the whole house. By using flexible windows, it is not only naturally breezy but also prevents rain. Another helper to save energy and create more sustainability is solar panels installation (solar cells) which is hidden from an exterior perspective. This house may look simple. But the design that meets basic needs allows to function and truly save energy at home with a user-friendly appearance. The materials that have been used in the house are simple. With a wooden facade and adjustable openings, this project provides privacy in the chaotic city. No need to turn on the air conditioner, the key concept of energy-saving is allowing natural wind to pass through the facade and the entire house. Another way to ventilate the building is a courtyard. Besides providing a green area, the Courtyard permits the air to pass through the middle of the house. Moreover, the gable roof is chosen to reduce the heat.

THE WORLD WE LIVE IN PERMANET EXHIBITION DESIGN PROJECT
THE EQUATOR
CONCEPT The main design concept is EMBRACE THE WORLD or embracing the world through a contoured shape that emphasizes enveloping both the city side and Lumphini Park side by making a high basement surrounding the existing trees. In addition, the appearance of the building corresponds to the content of the museum that allows people to learn about the world. A walking path that is like orbiting around the world itself is the origin of the project name THE EQUATOR or the equator, which is a line that runs across the world. Emphasis on universal design that makes it possible for everyone to feel the area through ramps as the centerpiece of the event. The accessibility of public spaces, such as the community library, workshop, and restaurant spaces create a sense of equality. The smooth journey between floors is a continuation of the story within the exbition.

THE OFFICE COMMERCIAL OFFICE BUILDING, 2021
COMMERCIAL OFFICE BUILDING DESIGN PROJECT
THE OFFICE
CONCEPT Nowadays, We strongly believe that workspace is more like a second home. It is that single space where we spend most of the day. Therefore, the main idea of this commercial office building is to change the working environment into a residential atmosphere with separate green spaces on each floor. This particular area gives a feeling of privacy as if you are in your place. It consists of a simple and friendly-look facade, creating more comfortable working conditions. The rental office floors can be divided into either 1/4-floor, half-floor, full-floor, or duplex perfectly by connecting each floor with an external staircase and making the green area a passageway and multi-function space beside the common indoor area.

DESIGN PROCESS
FORM FROM SETBACK
SHIFTED STACK
Set on a plot of 1,715 square meters, the shape of the building starts from the requirements of the law creating a slope form that looks like it has been cut up. Providing more scenery that faces the main street, this project attempt to break the conventional typology of an office building.
The next process is shifting the form of the building to increase green space and enough quality shade in the building. This project divides into two blocks, making the upper part (space for rent) appear to be floating, separate from the unit below.

PUBLIC BIKE SCHEME SPECIAL BUILDING, 2022
BANGKOK BICYCLE SERVICE POINT DESIGN PROJECT
PUBLIC BIKE SCHEME
PUBLIC BIKE SCHEME To provide more bicycle parking spots, as well as a resting point for both cyclists and people who pass by, PUBLIC BIKE SCHEME was designed. This project combines all the needs of users in one place. Being more than a parking spot and bike for rent, there is a waiting area, small shops and retails. Both functions are divided into proportions that can be opened separately yet still connected. Adjusting the exterior to be attractive by using the outstanding character of the sculpture to make the project become a landmark with materials that reflect the surrounding area and draw people closer. With a simple structure, this service is movable and can be set up anywhere. In addition to being useful and complete It is also part of the area that enhances the view in the city as well.
