Ayurveda, ‘the complete knowledge for long life’, is a system of traditional Indian medicine. The emphasis is higher on prevention of disease than its cure. It stresses the use of plant-based medicines. It is a holistic system of healing that addresses the body, mind and spirit – individually and in unison – for total wellbeing. The most fundamental principle of Ayurveda is called ‘Tridosha’ or the ‘Three Humours’. Ayurveda stresses the balance of these 3 elemental energies or doshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Vata dosha is made up of space and air, Pitta dosha is made up of fire and water, and Kapha dosha is made up of water and earth. Together, the doshas orchestrate all the activities that occur within us. A person remains healthy as long as the doshas are in a state of balance. Ayurveda holds that each human possesses a unique combination of doshas. Hence, it recommends different treatments for different types of people. Ayurveda also focusses on yoga, meditation and massage. Ayurvedi Massage Therapy – This is an important branch of Ayurveda, wherein touch, art and science are blended to heal your body. This helps increase blood circulation and provides fresh oxygen to the tissues. A variety of herbs and natural treatments are used. It is recommended for problems of muscle stiffness, soreness and muscle spasm. It helps not only to receive nutrient materials from within the body but also to expel toxins. This increases your overall well-being and health.

Dr Mamgain guides the therapist to give you a suitable Ayurvedic massage called Abhayangam. Dr Ravindra K. Mamgain holds a Doctor’s degree in Ayurvedic Medicine from the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in India, and has been healing people through Ayurveda for the last 20 years. He also holds a Diploma in Yoga from the same university. He has written several papers and has received a c c o l a d e s a n d a w a r d s fo r h i s contribution to Ayurveda. He has led and participated in seminars and workshops, both national and international. He is Professor in the Department of Ayurvedic Medicine at Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences in Dehradun, India. He is on the editorial board of Ayush, an international journal for Ayurveda Research.
Ayurvedic Cooking Ayurveda considers cooking as a sacred practice much like yagya, the fire sacrifice ritual. In the act of cooking, the person preparing the meal becomes a source for nourishing and healing the body, mind and spirit of not only oneself, but also for those that one is cooking for. It vitalizes the self and all those around. Ayurvedic cooking is the ancient art of self-healing. Great emphasis was placed on diet and food in the Yoga Tradition. This was an integral part of the practice of all holistic spiritual disciplines. Ayurvedic preparation of recipes has a strong impact on the senses due to its unique taste, aroma, texture and colour. The act of preparing helps one discover a deep sense of connection, fulfilment and satisfaction. Our holistic faculties intuitively respond to the nourishment that comes from the subtle tastes and aromas of the special blend of spices. These spices play a vital role in bringing us to a deeper level of health and wellbeing.
At Inhale India, the food sessions begin with an introduction to Ayurveda. The focus is on the analysis, understanding and selection of foods from the world of Ayurvedic cuisine. The cooking process includes various Ayurvedic menus, taking into
consideration the different body constitutions (doshas) as well as foods that are suitable for most constitutions (tridoshic). You are advised on seasonal variations in choosing cuisines during several situations such as – while travelling, for weight management, and maintaining vigour and vitality. Different beverages, including herbal teas, are also discussed. These sessions help you understand your relationship with food, based on your body constitution. Yoga is a scientific system of physical and mental practices that originated in India more than 3000 years ago. It can help you achieve your highest potential of – physical health, mental harmony and emotional balance – and attain a state of enduring health and happiness. It can improve the quality of your life. Yoga’s highest purpose is to help you realize true happiness, freedom, or enlightenment. Yoga in the West means mainly physical exercises and postures. But this is only a single step in its practice. Classical Yoga is an eight-stage process of spiritual development called Ashtanga (eight steps) Yoga. The first two stages are ethical disciplines, then is postures (Asanas) and breathing exercises (Pranayama). The last four levels are meditative – control of the senses, concentration, meditation and finally, enlightenment (Samadhi). Chakra Healing is a core belief in the practice of Yoga. This system was first developed in India in the Middle Ages. The word ‘chakra’ is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheel’. Chakras are your energy centres. They are the openings for life energy to flow into and out of your aura. Their function is to vitalize the physical body and to bring about the development of your selfconsciousness. They are responsible for your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual functions. There are seven major Chakras in your body. An energy healer can tell you which chakras are misaligned and assist you in getting these back to functioning properly. At Inhale India, Mette guides sessions on Yoga and Chakra Healing for mental and emotional well-being. She guides participants to induce balance of bioelectric energies which helps in gaining wellness and coping with stress and pain.

Vedic Astrology and Personal Navigation Astrology means the Science of the Source of Light. This source of light is actually our very Self, the seat and source of consciousness and all awareness. Astrology considers the stars in the macrocosm to be reflecting the microcosmic life-path of individual selves, both intricately woven to each other. Our lives are governed by the Law of Karma (deeds). We experience the consequences of the choices we make, whether in this lifetime or in the past, whether consciously or otherwise. An aggregate of such immutable consequences is called destiny. ‘What’ we meet in life is destiny; ‘How’ we meet it is free will. There on, new choices are made and relevant consequences unfold. The birth horoscope represents the opening balance of karma at the time of birth as brought forward from our past lifetime into the current lifetime. The horary horoscope, calculated at the moment of meeting the native, represents the additional karma accrued during this lifetime. Taken into account together, along with an understanding of the psychosomatic-social position of the native, a road map for the future is foreseen. At Inhale India, Pawan offers personal consultation based on Vedic Astrology to help you make a road map for the future. He guides and counsels, addressing your specific issues and challenges. He helps deepen your self-awareness through introspection and selfinventory. This clears the mind, enabling the understanding of why you are going through what you are going through, leading to acceptance and change. Pawan also leads the group on Mantra Science and meditation.
Pawan Mishra is a Vedic Astrologer and Vaastu-Vid. He is also a student of the ancient wisdom traditions, including the science of Mantra. Pawan was initiated at 7 years of age by Sri Chandi Mishra, into the Vedic tradition of Sage Yagyavalkya. Later, his guru, MM (Dr) Swami Veda Bharati, initiated him into the Himalayan Tradition. His great-grandfather was a renowned astrologer-saint and his grandfather, a priest-scribe to senior monks of the Jaina order. Pawan began future-telling through intuitive palmistry at the age of 12 years. For over thirtyfive years now, he has guided people across the world using Palmistry, Vedic Astrology and Vaastu Shastra. He has written several articles and has been invited for national and international television and radio programmes. Pawan is based in Noida-Delhi NCR in India. He travels extensively to offer his consultations and conduct workshops for individuals and organizations, globally.
Kathak is a classical dance style of India. Kathak is derived from ‘katha’, meaning ‘a story’. Traditionally, Kathak meant a story-teller who narrated mythological tales in temples in the form of an ecstatic dance. The Moghuls, who ruled in India (11th18th centuries), transformed it into a court dance. It is unique for its intricate footwork and fast spins. Kathak is expounded in the sacred text known as Natya Shastra – The Knowledge of Dancing. Divinely inspired by Sage Bharata, it is the most comprehensive literature on the language of movement in the world. At Inhale India, a Kathak performance is presented every evening to highlight different aspects of the classical heritage of dance and music of India. You learn to appreciate the link of dance to spirituality. Elements of Kathak are taught in private or small group sessions. The performances will be about: Thumri – expressing eternal, unconditional Love in the playful relationship between Radha and Krishna. Abhinaya (expressional dance) introducing Shiva – the fierce yogi and the Destroyer of Ignorance. Other Vedic deities – Ganesha, Laxmi, and Saraswati – will be briefly introduced. Sufi Seduction – the link between Kathak and Sama, the dance of the Whirling Dervishes of the z mystic tradition. Nature: The portrayal of birds, animals and seasons, through classical dance. You may wish to join in and learn how to express the joys of nature through dance. Navrasa (The Nine Flavours) – The expression of the fundamental nine human emotions through dance. Technical Kathak – a pure, movement-based choreography which highlights the intricate movements, spins and foot-work.
Astha Dixit is a Kathak dancer based out of Delhi, India. She received her primary training in Kathak from her Guru Shri Harish Gangani of the Jaipur Gharana. She has trained and performed with some of the most renowned Masters of Kathak. She has performed for the Dance Repertory of the Kathak Kendra – the National Institution of Kathak Dance under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. She has added splendour to India’s most popular dance festivals at Khajuraho, Konark, Baroda, and the Kathak Mahotsav. She has presented Kathak in International festivals such as Shanghai World Expo in China, the NBC Tourism Festival and Sufi Festival in the USA. She has choreographed a unique dance presentation that interprets different spiritual traditions of the world using the language of Kathak. She has been featured as an actress and dancer in Indian cinema.
If it were asked whether God was a painter, an engineer or a dancer, the answer would be – a Dancer! It is only in a dance that the dancer, the dance and the stage become one! The dance is inseparable from the Dancer! So is this Universe, from God.

‘Dance’ is deep rooted in India’s culture and tradition. Varied forms of dance forms have been given birth here. Each has been influenced by a particular period. Each form represents the culture and ethos of a particular region or a group of people. These forms have been preserved through the centuries and are now a part of our present culture. Each is a living tradition. Classical Dance Forms adhere to the guidelines laid down in the Natya Shastra by Sage Bharata (source for all forms of Indian classical dance). Dance in early Hindi films (Bollywood) was primarily modelled on classical styles. Today, film dance is a fusion of this earlier style and Contemporary Styles of dance. The hero and heroine perform with supporting dancers. Many song-and-dance sequences feature instantaneous shifts of locations and even changes of costumes between the verses of a song. At Inhale India, Lamira creates dance-magic! She makes everyone dance and sway, even those with no experience! She brings Bollywood alive on stage – with all its glitter and its vibrant tales of love and romance. These dances have fascinated audiences all over the world for over 70 years. Lamira also offers the Kathak Mujra style of the Moghul period in India, originally performed for royalty for over 500 years. Lamira depicts what India is famous for – Dance. She takes her audiences on an insightful journey through this colourful land, expressed through its different dance forms. She brings to life India’s diverse cultures, mythology, spirituality, beliefs and emotions of its people.
Lamira Faro was born in Germany. She has visited and lived in India several times. She believes in Indian values and expression. She studied Indian classical dance and mythology first in Germany and then in India. She has continued to enrich herself through her own experiences in India. She has performed for Indian festivals and television shows, and taught dance to children and young adults during Indian Week projects in Germany. Her dream project is inspired by a movie Aaja Nach Le (Come, Let Us Dance!). As shown in the movie, she has worked tirelessly to bring dance into the lives of common people by making them dance! She has begun work on her Hindi musical Romeo and Juliet. Her Dinner Theatre is a special offering for one evening. During a four-course meal, a team of actors and dancers perform an Indian story. The guests get to experience India’s rich food traditions as well as its poetic culture and art. Injourni may be contacted for the details. Lamira’s education as a Reiki Master adds a quality of healing to all her work. Reiki, as a self-healing boon, gives the actors, the dancers and the audience, an intense experience of inner Self-ness.
The Science of Mantras The Vedas are the most ancient texts, written about 2000 BC, though they were orally passed down even earlier than 6000 BC. They contain wisdom in terse verses that are called Mantras. Mantra means that which ‘liberates the mind’ (from ignorance!). Often mantras are simply a single letter or a sound – phoneme. These are called seed mantras that hold, in their understanding and practice, an infinitely large awareness of energy. It is interesting to note that meditation guided through mantra repetition produces harmonising patterns of energy in the human body field. Modern bio-feedback systems confirm what can be experientially known. Some mantras, as in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (1500 BC), carry practical guidance to enhance personal growth. Following this time-tested wisdom helps us attain our highest person-hood, allowing for a calm mind and a joyful, well-thy being! At Inhale India, Yoga Sutra of Patanjali is discussed as a tool for self-growth and personal enhancement. Durga Saptasati is discussed as a metaphor for analysing and resolving inner conflict. You also have an opportunity to absorb the throbbing energy of live chants of ancient sacred mantras during meditation sessions.
Pundit Deepak Kumar Jha is a Brahmin priest born in a family of priests with a high ancestral lineage. He has completed his Master’s degree in Sanskrit Literature and is preparing for his Doctorate. He was initiated into the Himalayan Tradition of Shri Vidya by MM (Dr) Swami Veda Bharati, D.Litt. He serves as the up-acharya (Assistant Chief Priest) at the Shri Vidya shrine, located in Noida, India. Pundit Deepak leads a team of eight priests who serve to carry on 24 hours of live chanting of the Durga mantra each day. Such a 24 x 7chanting is unique in the world. The shrine has the Mother Goddess of ten different world traditions worshipped each day in their respective traditions, some of them long lost to our culture. They are Tara (Buddhism), Kuan Yin (China), Amaterasu (Japan), Mother Mary, Sophia, Isis (Egypt), Inana (Mesopotamia), Yemanja (Africa, South America), Padmavati (Jaina) and Maya (Central America). Pundit Deepak is an expert in chanting Sanskrit mantras, both from the Vedas as well as more modern sacred traditions like the Tantra. At Inhale India, he chants healing mantras from the Vedas. He also chants the Durga Saptasati consisting of 700 verses during meditation sessions. He brings with him the exalted energy of the Shri Vidya shrine. He assists Pawan Mishra during intensive meditation and wisdom tradition classes.

Mehendi, also known as Henna, is a shrub plant called Lawsonia inermis. The leaves, which are dark green in colour, produce a deep red natural pigment, when crushed. A paste of these leaves and oil is used to create beautiful motifs and designs on the female body. Mehendi is very popular with women in India and the Middle Eastern countries.
From the rich souvenir collection of India, we bring you an array of distinctive Indian products – representing the most perfect and typical examples of all that is Indian. Essentially what India is famous for! These may be purchased.
Mehendi design is applied on the hands and feet during festivals and ceremonies, especially during the wedding ceremony. It is considered an ornament for the bride! She is not allowed to work in her husband’s home until the colour of Mehendi fades away completely. Normally, the design lasts for about two weeks. Mehendi depicts love and affection between the couple which is based on sacrifice and mutual dignity. It is so believed that the darker the colour and the longer it remains, the more intense the love between the two. At Inhale India, you get an opportunity to be a part of the tradition, culture and colour of India – literally, with your own hands! Join in the fun! Try your hand with this form of body art and watch India leave her mark on you!
