Program: Cultural Institute Area: 7500m 2
Through research in the Studio’s theme of the “Festive City” and in the city of Maastricht, a brief was developed for : A creative hub, located in the historic centre of Maastricht and offering exhibition spaces, a multi-purpose hall, workspaces, living spaces and leisure/ commercial functions. The aim of the project was to explore the qualities of the architecture of the city and offer new insights into what it could be by researching the following questions: How can the architecture of the city: - encourage social interactions of different scales and forms? - use theatrical ideas and techniques to enrich its experiential qualities? - contribute in creating a collective memory and identity for its people?

ii. TH E P ROVOST ’S HOUSE Oxford, United Kingdom 2017
Program: Provost’s House Area: 350m 2
The project’s brief was to design the Provost’s house within Queen’s College, one of the historic colleges of Oxford University. Apart from the private living spaces, the house would also include some public spaces for tutorials, meetings with students and academic gatherings (ranging from dinners and parties, to screenings and lectures). Through the design process, the aim was to explore: - How is architecture experienced as a sequence of spaces? - How can this experience be enriched by blurring the lines between interior and exterior? - How can the choice of materials and detailing influence the public or private character of a space?

iii. IMF R EP R E SENTAT I VE OF F I CES Bucharest, Romania 2016
Program: Ofiices Area: 1400m 2 The project’s brief was to design the representative offices of the IMF in a neglected neighbourhood in Bucharest. Apart from the offices, a part of the development would be devoted to public functions such as a cafe, a restaurant, a screening room and some exhibition spaces. The aim of the project was to explore: - How can architecture respond to a “controversial client” and at the same time take an ethical stance? By researching this question, the project touched upon several themes such as:
- Democracy and public space
- Flexibility and timelessness
- Integration and appropriation

03. DRAWING STUDIES
i. A S EQUENCE OF SPACES Haus Stein, 1976-77 by Heinz Bienefeld
A study of how humans experience movement through space. Rather than a series of static, independent images, spatial experience involves both what has been seen before but also a suggestion about what follows. This drawing is an attempt to represent this idea and offer a more (phenomenologically) accurate way of describing spatial experience.
Hand-Drawing
ii. A C HI L DHOOD MEMORY Charalambia’s House
An exploration of how we remember spaces from our childhood. Rather than fully detailed accounts of spaces, our memories seem to revolve around textures, patterns, colours and a general experience of atmosphere and moving through space. Depicted here is my grandmother’s house.
Digital Collage
iii. MO V ING T HROUG H T HE CI T Y Maastricht Historic City Center
A representation of the experience of moving through the historic centre of Maastricht, a city characterized by its sequences of narrow curving streets and smaller or larger, open, public spaces. The multi-layered composition turns the image into an object while simultaneously suggesting movement and creating space.

04. WORK EXPERIENCE PROJECTS
i. P LAS HET SCHOOL EXT ENSI ON London, United Kingdom 2016
Office: Rivington Street Studio Program: School Extension Work Stage: Technical Design/Construction
In order to accommodate the increasing number of students, Plashet school needed an extension to its existing building. A three-storey extension was designed to respond to this need. This extension connects to the existing school via two bridges and provides a dining hall, a gym hall and expressive arts facilities. The design helps transform a fragmented external space into an accessible and secure student plaza. I was an active member of the design team for this project. My tasks included: - Working on drawings (ceiling plans, floor finishes plans, room elevations, detailed sections, rendered elevations) - Working on various documents (room data sheets, doors & windows schedules, NBS Specifications etc.) - Attending school engagement meetings and site visits

ii. KENN IN GHAL L ROAD HOUSI NG London, United Kingdom 2015
Office: Rivington Street Studio Program: Housing Work Stage: Strategic Definition/Concept Design
The office was asked to prepare a feasibility study examining how a plot in East London could be developed into housing. Given the historic character of the neighbourhood, the challenge was to make a contextual but at the same time contemporary proposal that would provide the maximum number of high-quality dwellings. I worked in close co-operation with the director on two proposals for 7-8 flats. My tasks included: - Designing diagrammatic plans for the project - Designing elevations and preparing them to be presented - Working on a SketchUp model and preparing 3D views for the proposal - Preparing diagrams and documents to explain the project - Attending meetings with the client

iii. C R U D YR ALLT PRI VAT E DWEL L I NG Cardiff, United Kingdom 2014
Office: Loyn & Co Program: Private Dwelling Work Stage: Developed Design
The clients of this project, sought a practical, ‘lifetime home’ for them and their art collection. The proposal aims to deliver to the client’s brief and to create a playful relationship between interior and exterior, to frame views that capture the surrounding landscape and to respond to the historical context and offer a quiet but contemporary addition. I worked in close co-operation with the project architect on a number of tasks, including: - Developing the full SketchUp model of the project - Working on rendered elevations - Preparing the planning application booklet (layout, diagrams to present the proposal, explanatory texts etc.)
