AUTUMNAL VACATIONS TO TAKE THIS YEAR Charles Hitechew
The passing of summer doesn’t mean the end of vacationing because there are plenty of autumnal vacation spots to enjoy! What’s not to enjoy about the beautiful sights of fall foliage, the smell of crisp fresh air, and natural wonders like mountains, beaches, rivers, and lakes? When looking for autumnal vacation spots, check out the options here!
Colorado’s Grand Mesa National Forest The Grand Mesa is home to the world’s largest flat-top mountain. Visitors enjoy miles and miles of biking and hiking trails and activities like paddling and casting, fly fishing, hunting, and camping here. It is also home to 300 lakes and reservoirs and its within reach of Colorado’s wine scene. A tour of the Grand Mesa may also be enjoyed via a drive-through along the Grand Mesa Scenic and Historic Byway. It’s a 63-mile route that runs through the canyon all the way up to the mesa.
New York’s Catskills for Fall Foliage One of the greatest beauties to fall is the brightly colored foliage. Catch fall foliage at its peak around early-to-mid October in the Catskills. Scenic drives run through mountains and valleys while taking in the sight of fall colors. Hiking also offers spectacular views. The Catskills in the fall also offer fun activities like corn mazes, pumpkin picking, hayrides, a craft beer tour, and sweet apple cider drinks.
Bermuda Railway Trail National Park Bermuda is known for its beaches, but there’s more to look forward to at the Bermuda Railway Trail National Park. Here visitors can enjoy 18 miles of breath-taking views and trails for biking, walking, and running. It was built on the original tracks of a railway in operation from 1931 to the end of World War II. Along the way, also enjoy panoramic ocean views, an old drawbridge, peaceful woodland areas, and quiet beaches for a swim.
Surf Destination at Sao Miguel Riding the waves isn’t just for the summer. In fact, during the fall in Sao Miguel, Autumn is the best time to surf the warm Atlantic Ocean. Sao Miguel sits off the coast of mainland Portugal and it is the largest island in the Azores. Sao Miguel offers amazing volcanic landscapes and aside from surfing, visitors may also enjoy kayaking, paddle boating, diving, canyoning, sailing, fishing, hiking, and biking.
