ith the rise of racial unrest in South Africa and the class of 94’ finding themselves thrown in to the ashes of the post 94’ healing process, young adults all over South Africa feel the need to express themselves in which ever way possible. It is for this reason that, this year, Genesis All Black is probably the most important of all of the annual festivals that have come before and probably to come in the future. The first Genesis All Black in 2013 was a proud reflection of the optimism that a group of young Middle-Class adults had about bringing the streets together through music. With a modest but bold line up, the goal was to bring people and genres together under one roof to celebrate the diversity we all have. Through the growing popularity and growth in support, the second edition of Genesis All Black became the bold statement of intent with regards to social integration of people from all walks of Life. From the monumental venue choice of Constitutional hill for #GenesisAllBlack I, to the reflection of the hustler spirit in the city of gold personified at “The Station” for Genesis All Black II, every element of this urban festival has spoken to the assimilation of the race mindset. The fort-coming third edition for this year’s Genesis

All Black event has had now restructure it’s purpose a bit to continue in the effort to overcome stereotypes and boundaries exist amongst us. The fight to bring people together has since become more radical than yesteryears and as a result the Festival has also had to take up arms in this heated topic. Genesis All Black III has taken up the key theme of being one united Army against discrimination. Using the golden thread of the All Black nation, all those at the event wear All Black this time around to be seen as once creed and color against oppression and racism. The look book that we then chose to shoot for this serves as an insight in to some of the soldiers that are war ready in an effort of using music to change the tune of life and turn it’s back to segregation. in the jovial yet gritty spirit of the Three Musketeers “ One for all and all for one” is the sentiment that is being portrayed through the portraits of the Look Book soldiers that have mad a declaration to publicly declare their part in the Genesis All Black Army. Genesis All Black is the impossible dream realized through music, the dream of togetherness. Join the Army.
