Editors Note this magazine was designed for the purpose of my final major project unit for my fashion graphics degree. I chose a beauty magazine as this is what i find most interesting and something i am passionate about. the magazine i have created is full of tips and information with a graphic twist using illustration to compliment photography.
I enjoyed designing and creating this magazine and even though i worked on my own it has given me a great insight into how to design page layouts and the magazine industry. this project has given me the chance to be able to use all my skills i have been taught over the past 3 years at university.
please read and enjoy, the i wanted this magazine to be tips are my own and eveyvisual and interesting and to one has different views and keep a pastel colour scheme prefrences. throughout. Charlotte Fox.

Cleanse, tone and moisturise – why does it matter? a quick once over with a face wipe and we think we’re good to go, but is this really enough to remove all the make-up and daily dirt from our face? Sorry ladies, the answer is no, it most certainly is not!
The first step is cleansing – this removes all the dirt that has built up through the day and the make-up you have applied. This ensures that your pores don’t become blocked and assists in keeping those stubborn breakouts at bay. You should cleanse until the cotton wool pad no longer has any make-up on it. this is extreamly worth while. You will be completely horrified at how much makeup you can remove, so this may be a wake up call to lay off the foundation, powder and blush! Second step comes in the form of toning, this one is normally excluded from most women’s routines. some people think that cleansing has removed
10
everything from their skin. You are wrong, toning removes any final traces of make-up and dirt from the skin that the cleanser did not absorb. Another reason for ensuring this is included in your facial routine is that it in fact tightens your pores protecting your skin from any bacteria that may be thrown your way, perfect for avoiding breakouts. Lastly, the final step is moisturising this step keeps your skin soft, replenished and supple. it is also the best way to keep your skin hydrated which is time helps with premature ageing. it is every womans must have product as it ensures yor skin is protected from any stubborn dry patches and boosts its elasticity. All three steps may add an extra five minutes onto your morning and night time rituals, but this routine guarantees that your skin is looking its best at all times.
Confused on a base? confused on the differences between cc’s bb’s, primers, tinted moisturisers and foundations? don’t panic, we are here to help.
maybelline bb cream. bb cream has the same texture as a tinted moisturiser but has little coverage. bb creams have more benefit containing spf, anti-aging qualities and also even outs skin tone.
Your Rebel benefit spf 15. This tinted moisturiser gives your complexion a light coverage, without the thickness of foundation. Which also is very moisturising for your skin.
loreal cc cream. cc creams are colour correcting creams which can be applied before makeup or just on there own. different coloured cc creams help different skin tones. green = anti redness, purple = neutralises yellow tones and orange = corrects uneven tones.
Smashbox photo finish primer. There are hundreds of different primers out on the market but we picked this one to show you. Primers are a base for your make up, whether you use a bb cream or foundation. Primers help your makeup last longer and also have many different purposes, there are primers to cancel out redness, to fill up pores and also to give your skin that extra glow. So choosing the right one for you is essential.
rimmel 24h lasting finish foundation. foundation is used to achieve an even full coverage base and covers up your skin, covering any flaws or spots that you wish to hide. choosing a foundation right for you is very important, there is nothing worse than a orange face and white neck! Also check the consistencies, some foundations are a lot thicker and higher coverage than others.

Face brushes
Flawless makeup is as much about the tools you use as the products you apply. There are hundreds of different types of makeup brushes for different parts of your face and it can get a little confusing. Here we have the most used brushes as well as what they do! 1- real techniques buffing brush. this is used for foundation, bb cream or tinted moisturiser application. create a smooth finish with no lines or patches! simply buff the foundation onto the skin in small circle motions. 2-eco tools bronzing brush. use this with a powder bronzer for contouring or just a hint of bronzer on the cheek bones. 3-real techniques blush brush. always use a seperate blush brush from your bronzer. this is perfect for cream or powder blush. use a small circle motion. 4-bare minerals concealer brush. this small flat brush is perfect for adding concealers under the eye and in any awkward places. just a patting motion to apply. 5-stella powder brush. this is a multi-purpose brush and can be used for all over bronzer or powder. use a loose translucent powder and tap all over the face to hide any shiny patches.
12
Don’t feel that you should stick to how we tell you to use these brushes. do what makes you feel comfortable!
Eye brushes
having the right brushes for eye makeup is so important. there is nothing worse than poorly blended creasing eyeshadow. here we have the basic eye brushes for you.
1-cargo flat brush. this brush is perfect for adding colour to the lid, gently pat all over lid for an even colour. can be used with cream or powder shadow. 3-elf smudge brush. this brush makes applying eyeshadows under the eye on the water line magical as it is short and flat, giving you a huge amount of control. 4-elf blending eye brush. we would say this is the most important eye brush. perfect for applying eyeshadow or blending colours together. fits perfectly into the crease to stop any harsh shadow lines. 5-elf eye crease brush. with small bristles this brush can work perfectly into the crease of your eye acting as a blending brush. it also can be used to add colour into the inner eye. 6-cargo eye brush. this brush is also very multi-purpose. you can use it to fill in your brows with powder, add gel liner to waterline or above lash line and smudge shadow under the eyes. we also recommend using a eyeshadow primer first before applying any eyeshadows. it will make it last all day!
13
Brush cleaning
yes it is a chore but, we cannot stress the importance of cleaning your makeup brushes! you use your brushes everyday on your skin, this picks up bacteria and spreads it round your face, your brushes are then left with bacteria multiplying rapidly. this is a vicious circle and this will cause you to break out into spots. This is a simple way to wash all the bacteria and product out of your brushes,
1- Collect warm water and a gentle antibacterial hand wash. 2-Pump the product onto the makeup brush 3- Dip into the water 4-Swirl the brush onto the palm of your hand in a circle motion, let the product lather up to remove all the makeup. 5-Squeeze out excess soap and rinse with water 6-Repeat as many times as necessary (foundation brushes take longer to remove makeup) REMEMBER 7-Lay out your brushes to dry on a If water gets under the metal clasp of towel, making sure all the bristles are the handle, the bristles will become in shape and leave to dry. loose and fall out -Don’t use hot water as you can dam- we recommend you do this process once a week to keep your skin fresh. age your bristles.

Body care body care is just as i important as face care. making sure you use a shower gel, exfoliator and moisturiser is very important. keeping clean and showering is obviously part of everyones routine but do you exfoliate?
we recommend these products: soap and glory exfoliator, bodyshop moisturiser and lush shower gel.
using a exfoliating scrub with beads is important for all over your body, buffing this into your skin removes old skin cells and helps keep your skin silky smooth. for extra exfoliation try using a body brush, this also helps with circulation and cellulite.
You should do this every time you shower!
use a thick moisturiser after exfoliating all over your body to help keep your skin soft and moist. This also helps when fake tanning as it stops streaks and stripes.
using an exfoliator is a must if you prepping for fake tan. For that extra boost use exfoliating gloves to remove that stubborn dry skin.

Homemade face mask
This homemade natural face mask will hydrate your dry skin making it radiant. This banana face mask is beneficial to the skin as it contains vitamins A which soothes rough skin, vitamin B which reduces dryness and moisturises and vitamin E which prevents and reduces wrinkles. The honey in the mask has skin lightning properties and kills bacteria, helping prevent spots and pimples. All you’ll need is: 1 part honey and 1 banana. Simply cut up the banana into small chunks. Then add the honey and with a metal fork mix and break down all the banana lumps. Thats it! Make sure the face mask hasn’t got any hidden lumps. simply smooth onto face (avoiding eyes) and leave for around 15 minutes, and wash off with warm water! keeps in fridge for one day only.
