Letter from the Booster Club President

Charlotte Latin Sports Fans,

There is so much to celebrate this year! Congratulations to all our athletes, coaches, and families. It was amazing to watch spring programs like girls lacrosse and soccer best the Chargers for state championships & our boys golf team win the title for the first time in 29 years. Cheers to our track & field conference winners (Morgan Smith, Paige Fletcher, Keller Hitzemann and Jackson Scott) and the NCISAA Golf medalist (Aston Lee). Congratulations to the undefeated junior varsity boys lacrosse team and the middle school conference champion boys tennis and boys golf teams.

We have been so fortunate to have over 150 Charlotte Latin coaches support, encourage, and inspire our students this year. Coaches spend more time with our children than many of us do, and we are so thankful of the love, support and guidance given beyond the x’s and o’s. We also appreciate David Gatoux and our athletic directors for the endless hours they put into ensuring our Charlotte Latin athletes have the chance to find this success.

I may be biased – but truly believe we have the best Booster Club in town. The executive committee was on overdrive this year, and their hard work is setting Latin up for success now and in the future. And many thanks to the magazine team, who has put together another phenomenal sports publication capturing our athletes in action.

The Booster Club capped off 2022-23 in May with the Hawkspys, which returned to Theis Auditorium for the first time since 2019. It was an unforgettable evening celebrating our coaches, seniors and state champions. Thank you to our Hawkspys chairs, Gabi Gorelick, Jennifer Clutter, Ashley Smith, and Stacey Hitzemann, for making this year’s celebration extra special for our Latin school community.
