and Security
A security consultant performed a campus-wide assessment. Security improvements and changes include:
• Campus-wide access control
• Intrusion alarm and detection system in all buildings
• Overhauled and expanded our CCTV and video archiving
ATHLETICS
New sporting equipment including:
• Girls’ tennis uniforms
• 6 new volleyballs
• 15 new soccer balls
• New pinnies for soccer team
• 4 new basketballs
• Gymnasium lights (8th-grade gift)
• Installed an automated gate system and campus security fencing which completely surrounds the school
• Added SchoolPass, a visitor management system, which screens all visitors through watch lists before issuing a badge
• Privacy screening added to playground fencing
• Perry Weather System – an on-site monitoring and alert system for faculty/staff/students of current weather situations via audible sirens, text and email

As a school devoted exclusively to children, we know the power of a community aligned around a clear and shared purpose. Ours, simply put, is to create the conditions where each child thrives. This is a collective effort, uniting teachers, staff, and parents in the joyful work that takes place every day at our very special school.
The 2023-2024 school year was unique and challenging. But by uniting and working together, we propelled Prep forward and have created plans that will lead to a very exciting future for our school and students. This annual report is reflective of this strong spirit, which permeates our school community. One important manifestation of this spirit is
our annual Prep Fund, which this year reached new heights and exceeded our goal. We are very grateful to our community of donors who supported the Prep Fund; your support matters and is critical to the success of our school and speaks to the generosity of spirit that lifts our school up.

Janie Kendrick, a beacon of dedication, has not only spent 38 years of her life in the service of elementary school students but has also left a lasting mark on our community. Her influence has spanned the public and private school sectors, and she has touched the lives of many. Janie, known for her experience, passion, and empathy, has always been a teacher with a mission to reach every child in her class and guide them toward their highest potential.
During her years at Prep, Janie has strived to live by Maya Angelou’s words, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.” Embracing a philosophy of lifelong learning, she consistently sought to remain abreast of the latest educational
research and best practices, diligently refining her craft. Janie passionately devoted countless hours to expand her understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This knowledge has helped her evolve into a culturally diverse educator capable of establishing an inclusive learning environment for her students.
For the past seven years, Charlotte Prep’s faculty and staff have been exceptionally fortunate to have had the opportunity to work alongside Janie. Her unwavering dedication, remarkable teamwork, and genuine kindness have made her an invaluable teammate and a dependable friend to all.
