PROLOGO Admiro a la gente que ve las contradicciones de la vida, como un aplazamiento de sus ilusiones, nunca como una claudicación. Carmen Mirallas perteneciente al tipo de personas que se han sobrepuesto a las dificultades y han podido explayar sus inquietudes estéticas, que un principio satisfizo en el mundo de la moda, donde ha vuelto ahora, para fundirla con sus experiencias plásticas, y cuando las circunstancias fueron favorables en el de la pintura y el grabado. Son ya quince años de practica, muchas horas de trabajo frente al lienzo o la tabla que le ha hecho adquirir un lenguaje propio, refrendado por sus hallazgos plásticos, que ha cuajado en una obra sabia en color y textura, vigorosa, innovadora y cosmopolita. Cosmopolita, porque su laborar incansable de estos últimos diez años ha tenido como tema la ciudad de Nueva York, su segundo pueblo, en un principio desde la lejanía, que le proporciono temas de todo tipo, geométricos, urbanos, marítimos, paisajísticos... Pero desde hace dos años después de acordar sus sueños con la realidad, en su visita a la capital del mundo, sigue con redoblados ánimos en su camino de gran pintora, a lo que suma ahora su trabajo en la creación de estampas, después de terminar sus estudios de Grabado y Técnicas de Estampación en la Escuela de Arte. PROLOGUE I’m amazed by the people that see the life’s contradictions as a postponement of their wishfull thinkings, never as a abandonment. Carmen Mirallas belongs to the kind of people who has recovered from the misfortunes and been able to spread out her aesthetics worries, that she pleased in the fashion’s world in the begining where is back nowadays to join it with her plastic arts experiences, and when the factors were good in painting and printmaking. She has a practice of fifteen years, a lot of hours faced to a canvas or a board that has made an own language possible, endorsed by her plastic discoveries, that has come to a wise work in color and texture, vigorous, innovative and cosmopolitan. Cosmopolitan because her tireless working of these last ten years has had the New York City (her second hometown) as theme, first from far, that provided her any kind of subjects, geometrics, urbans, maritimes, landscaping... But since two years after according her dreams with the real thing, visiting the capitol of the world, she keeps on with boosted spirits on the way to a great artist, adding nowadays the creation of illustrations in her working, after finishing her studies of Printmaking and Illustration Techniques in the School of Art.

Desde hace muchos años, he pensado en la ciudad de New York como la “ciudad de mis sueños”. He centrado mi obra pictórica en ella y a través de mis cuadros paseé por sus grandes avenidas, escalé sus rascacielos, y me adentré en el mundo inagotable de edificios que siempre están vivos, intentando traspasar sus cristales para ver más allá. En ésta exposición plasmo algunas de las imágenes captadas en mi último viaje a esta “ciudad de sueños”.
Carmen Mirallas From many years away, I’ve though about New York City as the “City of my dreams”. I’ve focused my painting work there and with my pictures I take a walk around those huge avenues, I climbed its skycrapers, I penetrated in the endless world of buildings that are always alive, trying to go through the windows to see beyond.
