COMMUNICATING WITH YOUR STAFF BEFORE A NO-DEAL BREXIT It is important that a high level of transparency and communication is maintained from SMEs to their employees and internal stakeholders. Where there is uncertainty leaders or business owners need to give the assurance and regularly communicate.
Build trust with your employees. If there’s something to say then share it, if nothing is happening then let people know that. Consistent communication will build trust in your employees, remove ambiguity and any temptation for them to make assumptions.
Take your people with you. As you make plans, work out scenarios and prepare - make sure you include your people. Get them involved in the planning as they might have great ideas to contribute.
Develop a positive attitude towards change: Bring the organisation’s performance into line with public expectation. Deeds build a reputation far more effectively than words.
Make sure you always clearly communicate any change to staff – if they don’t hear directly from you, they will fill the void themselves and may well assume, and relay, the worst.
