File Submission Guidelines The following guidelines define the types of files and resolutions that are suggested to ensure your files print as intended. If you have any questions, please contact your Designtex Sales Representative or Surface Imaging Coordinator. Operating Systems Designtex supports files built on both the Windows and Macintosh platforms. Since fonts are not typically cross-platform compatible, please see notes below concerning fonts for your files. Software Designtex prefers files built in Adobe Illustrator CS4, Adobe Photoshop CS4, and Adobe InDesign CS4. If you are working in a program other than Adobe CS4, please export your file to a PDF using the PDF/X-1:2001 standard settings. Building Layout Files Build layout files at 100% final print size or at a proportionally smaller percentage (i.e., 50%, 25% etc.). With all files, please add 2” of bleed for wallcovering and .25” bleed for everything else. Link placed images as opposed to embedding them. Fonts When submitting your files, the best practice is to convert all fonts to outlines or curves. If you would like to submit a version of your file that has not been converted (for example, if you anticipate that edits will need to be made by Designtex), please include the original font files. PMS Color Matches The most commonly used color reference for digital printing is the Pantone Matching System (PMS). When building files for printing, please declare all required Pantone colors to be matched within the file. Depending on the printing device and material specified, up to 80% of PMS colors can be matched accurately. Other Color Matches When specifying other colors to match, such as paint colors or other finishes, please provide a physical reference of the color (i.e., paint chip or swatch of material) and clearly call out these colors in your files. Resolution All bitmap images (tiffs and jpgs) should ideally be at 150 pixels per inch at full size for prints up to 4’ x 8’, and a minimum of 72 pixels per inch for everything larger. Images should be in the RGB color mode. When saving image files as jpegs, please use the maximum image quality file setting.

File Submission Guidelines Image Files When submitting a flattened image file (tiffs or jpgs), please also provide the original layered Adobe Photoshop document (.psd) when applicable. This will allow the file to be adjusted if necessary. When saving tiffs, do not use LZW compression. Submitting your files to Designtex Files can be submitted on a disk or uploaded to our FTP site (ftp.designtex.com). The user name is dtexftp. The password is Designtex7@. Please create a new folder with your job name and upload all relevant files and supporting documents. Please notify your Sales Representative or Surface Imaging Coordinator when files have been uploaded. All files are automatically deleted from the FTP site after 7 days.
