Shelter Collection designed in collaboration with the Museums of Santa Fe

Abaya · Attush · Berber Stripe · Morning Star · Piiki · Rio Grande · Sun Dance · Valanka · Yucca · Yoruba · Yunnan Upholstery As varied as the Santa Fe landscape the qualities and colors of this grouping of upholstery and wallcoverings easily fit into applications that call for a high aesthetic, from hospitality to corporate to residential. Chunky wools, luxurious velvets, and textiles with shimmering tape yarns have all been designed to withstand long-lasting durability. Kimberle Frost, Vice President of Design reflects on the collection’s development, “I was intrigued by the history of the trading post and what it meant to our country, cultural references from every corner of the world, came together in Santa Fe to trade precious goods and services. Studying the museum’s acquisitions, it was apparent to me that there are so many common references that cross-over all cultures and time periods, the symbolic meaning of a hand, the value of coins, the use of natural materials like wool, cotton, metals and even specific color meanings. Today, as reflected in the Shelter Collection, fashion and interiors, whether functional or decorative, are truly rooted in our own historical journey…A personal journey for me.” Coinciding with Designtex’s 50th anniversary, reintroducing the 1 + 1 brand maintains the philosophy of doing well by doing good through promoting collaborations with outside sources, and in turn supporting local artistic communities.
