Welcome to the first issue of Château Montagne’s Newsletter! Here at Château Montagne, we’re all very excited about our new venture, which will help us keep in touch with our favourite couples as you start your preparations for your wedding.

Experience has taught us that every bride and groom needs advice, tips and constant support from everyone in their life. Getting married is a page turning event that changes your life in many ways. It is the single most important day in your relationship with the one you love, before venturing into building a family together. Young or old, Lebanese or Chinese, rich or poor; I think we all have one thing in common: we all agree that a marriage is an act of love that shows our commitment to the one we love in so many ways.

It can sometimes be frightening to leap into marriage, even with the one you love. It can also become overbearingly, nail-biting, hair-pulling, out-of your mind stressful, planning your D-day. It may even be overwhelming, not knowing how to deal with obligations that come along with being a fiancé(é) in this day and age. The team here at Château Montagne, want you to feel completely at ease with the days following up to your wedding, because this is supposed to be a beautiful occasion that you will remember for the rest of your life.

Château Montagne…Our story Let’s put the spotlight on Château Montagne for a brief moment! We realise that some of you may not really know our history. Here’s a snapshot of Château Montagne in chronological order:
The grounds of the château are transformed with yellow and pink bricks; turning it into a fairy tale location. Flowers of all types and colours are planted throughout the garden grounds, thus leaving a carpet of flowers. Cedars- Lebanon’s national tree- are planted on the château’s grounds and also on the private driveway leading up to the château.
1960: The château is built on ten acres of land on a hill overlooking the village of Aindarah by the late Halim Nassib Atallah as a home for himself, his wife and his six children. The gardens sowed to provide vegetables and fruits for the family. September 1979: Ghazi Halim Atallah and Maha Abdul Latif are the first to marry in the château. Their union brings together 1000 family members and friends to celebrate in the elegant and charming home of the groom. 1982: The château suffered from 20 year war that broke out in Lebanon, leaving the first floor burnt and damages to different rooms. Post War: The château is gradually restored to its beautiful state. August 2002: 23 years later, Nassir Halim Atallah and Lena Jurdi marry in the château, bringing together another 1000 family members and friends to celebrate in joy.

2008: On their 29 year anniversary, Maha and Ghazi plan a joint celebration for their daughter’s marriage Tania Atallah to Ziad Miristany and Sawsan Atallah’s engagement to Arnaud Bidart. Château Montagne’s Birth in 2009: Inspired by their daughters’ happy event, the family decides to transform the family home into an enchanting château, where the dreams of all those in love can come true. Château Montagne undergoes a complete renovation in its landscape, taking care to keep its surroundings evergreen.

Summer of 2009: Château Montagne begins its successful start in the hosting of events. Summer of 2010: 2010 opens the door to many more weddings to be held in Château Montagne. Future plans for the year ahead have already commenced. 2011: Château Montagne will reveal its future projects in 2011. These projects include a restaurant ON LOCATION as well as Château Montagne’s very own distinctive wine. And then…? Château Montagne will keep moving forward to ensure that it makes its visitors happy. Keep checking this space for more information about our future endeavours. Château Montagne is one of the rare castle venues used for events. If you want a truly romantic and magical setting- a far cry from industrial weddings- opt for romance and magic in a castle! This is a difficult question asked by all couples on a budget. As we are not wedding planners, we cannot give you a full wedding quote. In our experience, we can tell you that the costs of weddings in Lebanon range from $20,000 to $1m. Menus range from $20/person up to $100/person; guest lists range from as few as 100 to as many as 1000, decorations range from simple to elaborate. As each couple has different tastes and desires, we recommend event planners to help you plan out the wedding of your dreams and keep you informed about cost expectations. Am I restricted to working with specific service providers? No, Château Montagne imposes zero restrictions. Our main concern is that our clients are happy!

I live abroad. Can Château Montagne help me plan my wedding? Yes, of course! We live in a day of great technologies; we can assist you with all details via email. If we are unable to have our weddings in the Château because the date we requested has been booked; can we simply take pictures in the château? Yes, of course. May couples have their photo shoots in Château Montagne.

Hi Château Montagne, I think my fiancé Nabil deserves to win the Star Proposal for June 2010. He proposed to me a few days ago in the most romantic of romantic moments! We began our relationship almost a year ago, after meeting through a friend, and we were both very happy together. On June 22, I woke up to find the house filled with red roses. They were all over the house…my entire family cracked up, while I tried not to turn red! Underneath the pile of scattered roses, I found a card that said. “We’ve known each other for 300 days; these are 299 roses to show you how happy you made me feel for each of those days. Love, N”. I smiled, but wondered where the 300th rose was.
Of course I couldn’t refuse an offer like that! Nabil and I will be getting married next year in Château Montagne, where we will dance our first dance as husband and wife, as close to the stars in the night, as anyone ever could be. Can’t wait for our D-Day in Château Montagne! Lara

about the young and vibrant lady that he shared a cab with from Damascus to Beirut. He looked her up on Facebook, added her and asked her for her phone number. She refused, and so he gave her his, requesting she contact him, when she felt he was worth her time. Daily conversations on Facebook allowed for their friendship to grow into something more serious. After many attempts to convince Manal to meet him, Manal finally sent him an SMS. Hassan felt he had finally taken one step forward with Manal. Their cyberspace relationship finally began to take place in a not so electronic world. Hassan wanted Manal to know that he loved her and wanted her in his life. Manal felt the same way, and so they broke the good news to their families. Their electronic relationship is not over yet! Manal and Hassan announce their love for each other on Facebook, using the language of love!

For Manal and Hassan, meeting was a coincidence. Meeting a second time in the same cab on the same route was a double coincidence. Some prefer to call it fate and say that it was already written in the stars, and that they are living their destiny. In a cab back home to Beirut from a trip to Damascus, this year, Manal was dismayed to realise that she wouldn’t be the only passenger. After a long road trip, Manal usually preferred her peace and quiet on the way back home. But after her eyes met, with the tall dark haired man, who would share her ride with her across the borders and into Beirut, Manal knew she didn’t care for peace and quiet. In fact, she remembered him from the same route and cab she took the year before. Hassan also remembered seeing Manal the year before. In fact, he remembered kicking himself afterwards for not mustering up the courage to speak to her. As the cab driver put his car into gear and turned out of the driveway and into the highway, Manal and Hassan became lost in their thoughts. They later found out that they were both thinking, how strange it was, to feel a magical connection with a stranger. Hassan realised that God had given him a second chance with the magical Arabian beauty he had before him. This time he was courageous enough to start up a conversation. And converse, they did, for almost 3 hours, when they realised that they were back in Beirut. Alas, it was time to go their separate ways. But Hassan was resilient. He knew he felt something special
