A rookie Chatham-Kent councillor has become the first person to represent the municipality on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities as part of the Ontario caucus. Chatham Coun. Allyson Storey will serve on the national board of directors following her election to the post at the FCM annual conference in Toronto recently.

The conference provides an opportunity for municipalities to discuss key issues on the national stage and to advocate for support and funding from the federal government.

“I am humbled and honoured to be elected to the board of directors of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities,” Storey said. “This is an incredible opportunity to represent our communi- ty and collaborate with colleagues from across the country on finding solutions to shared challenges.”

The FCM board’s advocacy priority issues for 2023 include: a commit- ment to building better transit; delivering housing options and thriving communities for residents; and sustainable funding to implement active transportation, infrastructure and programs.
