Kia has a couple of winners on its hands in the powerful Stinger and sporty Forte. The Kia Stinger has been named Canadian Car of the year for 2019 by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada

dian Car of the Year, and we happened to have two of the three finalists.” The Stinger earned the nod, and Forte placed second. Not bad for a car company that is only celebrating 20 years in Canada this year. Weber said Kia quality is still surprising

some people, while earning long-term customers in the process. “We’re extremely proud to represent a brand that is equal to if not better than any other brand in the world today,” he said. “This year, Kia will mark 20 years in Canada. When you look at what it’s accomplished in that time, I’d say it’s better than any other brand in this marketplace.” At Lally Kia, the sales staff let the cars do the talking. The Stinger turns heads, with its bold looks and performance. On the road, the Stinger is responsive and quick, smooth and powerful, easily proving its moniker as the most balanced Gran Tourismo to escape the Nurburgring test ring. “The Stinger gives you everything you want in a luxury sedan. It has great performance with absolutely no turbo lag,” Weber said. He drives a Stinger and

put it to the test on Chatham-Kent roads in the winter. He said with snow tires, the Stinger passed with flying colours. Don’t just take Weber’s word. “Come see it at the Auto Show, come pick it up at the dealership,” he said. The Forte is totally redesigned for 2019, and actually looks like a smaller version of the Stinger, Weber said. What it provides, however, is incredible fuel efficiency, at as low as 5.9L/100 km, and safety. “The rearview camera is standard,” Weber said. “There’s also available Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Adding those two features alone makes this car an extremely safe vehicle.” Those safety features are displayed on an 8-inch screen, another standard feature on the Forte, along with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

Weber said customer feedback on the new Forte has been excellent. “The vehicle has only been out a month or two, but we’ve sold quite a few already. Everybody just loves the styling,” he said. Lally Kia customers like the vehicles, but they also like how they are treated. “We don’t really sell cars; we gain customers,” Weber said. “We’re a forward-thinking dealership and we know the true value of every customer that comes in here. We appreciate their business.” Weber understands Kia may not be yet be front of mind for everyone when shopping for a new vehicle. But he believes once you take the time to look at what Kia has to offer that will change. “All you have to do is just get behind the wheel of a Kia and you’ll see the difference right away,” he said.

Offering more horsepower, quicker acceleration and greater fuel efficiency than gas-only RAV4s, the XSE is a head turner and a smile maker. While the hybrid won’t be on display at the Chatham Indoor Auto Show, it will be coming to C-K in the near future, Dengel said.
