stallions 2013
Cover: Anacheeva Right: Reward For Effort
welcome In the forward to our brochure last year I spoke about the rebuilding of our stallion roster with REWARD FOR EFFORT, ANACHEEVA and PURREALIST. As enthusiastic as we were back then, what has transpired during the last 12 months has surpassed our expectations. REWARD FOR EFFORT, ANACHEEVA and PURREALIST each possess the attributes to become successful sires, being good looking, well-bred, Group winning 2 and 3 year olds. Furthermore, the sire credentials of each of them has been significantly enhanced with recent Gr 1 winning performances by related horses. In the case of REWARD FOR EFFORT, his 3/4 sister-in-blood OVERREACH is the winner of this year’s ATC Golden Slipper S Gr 1; ANACHEEVA’S sire ANABAA has added to his already impressive list of Gr 1 winners internationally with this year’s French Two Thousand Guineas Gr 1 winner STYLE VENDOME; and PURREALIST himself has produced (from his first crop) HAWKSPUR, winner of this year’s Brisbane 3YO Triple Crown, the BTC Rough Habit P Gr 3, Grand Prix S Gr 3 and Queensland Derby Gr 1. It is with great pleasure and immense pride that I present to you this brochure featuring our stallions for 2013, REWARD FOR EFFORT, ANACHEEVA and PURREALIST. We believe that we have the best value stallions in Victoria for 2013 and invite you to visit the farm to see for yourself.

Cassidy rolls back the years to swoop on classic with Hawkspur
Sydney colt Hawkspur completed a resounding winter carnival treble with a dominant victory in today’s Group 1 Channel Seven Queensland Derby (2400m) at Eagle Farm... The Derby victory completed a magnificent treble after the colt’s previous wins in the Rough Habit Plate and Grand Prix last month.
Trainer Chris Waller heaped praise on fellow expatriate Kiwi Jim Cassidy after his Bo Derek ride to win the $500,000 Queensland Derby (2400 metres) on Hawkspur. Hawkspur managed to complete the Brisbane triple crown for three-year-olds after earlier emphatic wins in the Rough Habit and Grand Prix. Sydney Morning Herald, 9th June 2013
