NEIGHBORHOOD K-5 MICRO SCHOOLS

Building a strong foundation for more sixth-grade ready students in Chattanooga

THE KING SCHOOL THE GLENWOOD SCHOOL

SERVING STUDENTS & FAMILIES

Micro Schools are K-5 schools, located in under-resourced neighborhoods, designed to educate children while assisting families with existing wraparound services.

WHAT ARE NEIGHBORHOOD MICRO SCHOOLS?

With one class per grade level and a maximum of 12 students per class, the focus is on fundamentals, especially reading and math.

Churches offer their buildings at no cost, utilizing existing space that is empty during the week. The backbone of CCS is leveraged to run and operate the school.

The schools are ethnically and socio-economically diverse. All families are invested. Some pay full tuition and others receive partial scholarships.

I have learned over 30 years of experience that it is better to catch children and families before they enter their educational funnel than to catch them later in their development. These micro schools will greatly impact our communities for years to come.

We believe in fostering partnerships toward a vision that every child in our community may reach their full potential.

This initiative ties nicely into our One Chattanooga strategy because it focuses on young students and whole families, making sure both are prepared for middle school.
