CHAUD DEVANT has a unique history. It all began in 1993 when Bianca van der Lee was working at a restaurant in Amsterdam and the chef tore his pants. She picked them up and wondered whether there weren’t more attractive models available in the market. This gave her the idea to develop contemporary, stylish and professional chefswear. The name of the company originates from a common exclamation in French kitchens: ‘CHAUD DEVANT’, which means ‘Watch out, hot plates coming through!’. 30 years later, CHAUD DEVANT has grown to be a leading trendy label for today’s chefs, kitchen brigades and service staff. Our designs are developed here in Amsterdam and then deliberately produced in Europe. They are then sold to dealers and wholesalers in more than 20 countries. Thanks to the efforts of our enthusiastic team, CHAUD DEVANT has set the standard for the look of food service establishments in the Netherlands and far beyond.

Dutch design! Our clothes are designed in Amsterdam and consciously produced at our certified ateliers in Europe. From our own warehouse in Amsterdam, we deliver from stock. This allows us to move quickly and offer you a high level of service. We work with a team of 40 employees who are happy to speak to you (in your own language). You can also visit our showroom in Amsterdam where we will be happy to welcome you!

FEEL GOOD
HOW WE MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD... We all try to make conscious choices. More and more chefs are developing organic or even vegan recipes and making their menus more sustainable. We too recognise the impact that clothing has on the environment and want to reduce our carbon footprint. That is why we started the journey to make our collection more sustainable, step by step. We choose to use high-quality, recycled and ecological materials and to produce them in Europe. To make these more sustainable items a lot easier to find, we developed the FEEL GOOD label.
An item from our collection receives the FEEL GOOD label if at least 30% of the material is sustainable in our eyes (recycled polyester and/or recycled cotton and/ or organic cotton and/or Tencel). * Every year, we will evaluate whether the above definition is still adequate.

COLLECTIONS BUJUTSU
PURE DENIM
The Bujutsu chef jacket was designed for chef Nick Bril of The Jane** restaurant in Antwerp and is inspired by Japanese style. The collection is modern, sleek and distinctive, with diagonal, asymmetrical pockets that give the items a fresh look. The collection colours are also unique: the chef jackets are not only available in black and white, but also in green. The earthy tones of the bib aprons and waist aprons fit in perfectly with these colours. These colourful outfits draw all eyes towards the kitchen!
Pure Denim Collection is strong, raw, and has character. That’s why it’s the perfect blend of fashion and workwear. Real denim is alive! The more you wash it, the more it comes to life. Wash and treat it as you want. Pure Denim takes on your identity. Besides Indigo Blue and Antra there are beautiful earth shades: green, grey, brown and mud. Be daring and combine the style that fits you. Everybody loves denim! The Pure Denim collection is not suitable for industrial cleaning.

NORDIC
Authentic, lightweight and timeless. From bistro to food truck or trendy bar, the Leather70 collection fits in anywhere. The innovative combination of cowhide and polyester makes the leather bib and waist aprons lightweight and less vulnerable to stains. All of the apron ties are fully adjustable. The ‘raw edge single stitch’ finish gives the collection its recognizable, tough appearance.
Go for a pure, fresh look with our Nordic collection! The Nordic chef jacket was designed for master chef Joris Bijdendijk from the RIJKS®* restaurant in Amsterdam. The idea was to develop a new chef jacket in a shirt style. The items in this collection therefore feature freedom of movement and comfort. CHAUD DEVANT found inspiration in the Scandinavian trends: the Nordic items are sleek and simplistic, but with sophisticated details. If you’re looking for user-friendly chefwear, this collection is for you!
BASIX
VELVET
The Basix collection can be recognized by its diverse colors and simple models. If you’re looking for a plain apron or chef jacket, this is the place to be!
The Velvet collection has a cool and authentic look. Available in three different models and completely on trend in the colours Blue, Red, Yellow, Green and Black. The rib velvet gives the aprons and bib aprons a robust character with just that touch of luxury.

Made of 100% recycled plastic bottles in an eco-friendly fabric (200 gr/m2). A white, satin woven fabric made of 65% recycled polyester and 35% environmentally friendly cotton. The fabric has a stain repellent finish that makes it easy to remove stains and an Easy Care finish, making the fabric very easy to iron. Goal: Full Cradle to Cradle solution. We shred them into bits and pieces after which we blend them with other recycled materials. The result is our brand-new Recycled Chefwear collection. The collection integrates the comfort and excellent fit of our traditional Chefwear, with a reduced ecological food print.

FEEL GOOD® To make these more sustainable items a lot easier to find, we developed the FEEL GOOD label. An item from our collection receives the FEEL GOOD label if at least 30% of the material is sustainable in our eyes (recycled polyester and/or recycled cotton and/or organic cotton and/or Tencel). * Every year, we will evaluate whether the above definition is still adequate.
TENCEL®
The fabrics used for our chefwear are very carefully selected. That is why Tencel® is found in a number of our products. This fabric keeps you cool and is highly absorbent. It even dries faster than cotton. It goes without saying that we want only the very best materials for our products!
SecondLife® is a fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. It can be industrially cleaned, making it highly suitable for chefwear. The combination with Tencel® results in a jersey fabric that is flexible, lightweight and provides exceptional freedom of movement. This fabric can be found in the FX collection.
WASTE2WEAR®
With Waste2Wear®, CHAUD DEVANT does its part to help make the world a little greener. Products with the Waste2Wear label are made of recycled plastic bottles. These bottles are processed into polyester, which is then used to create our RPB collection.

Many of our fabrics are certified with the OEKO-TEX® STeP or OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 quality label. This means that they are produced in a sustainable manner with few or no chemicals. In other words, honest clothing for today’s eco-conscious chefs!
AMFORI BSCI
CHAUD DEVANT works with European studios that are Amfori BSCI Members. Amfori BSCI is a well-known quality label that guarantees good, safe working conditions and decent wages. We also visit all studios personally on a regular basis.

CHAUD DEVANT® LOOKBOOK
An environmental label that has been assigned to certain products within a wide range of product groups, including textiles. There must be a reduced impact on the environment. Depending on the product group, the following aspects are considered: energy consumption, emissions to air and water, prohibition of the use of harmful substances, packaging waste, organic agriculture and recycled raw materials.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
For a proper treatment of your chef’s outfit, please refer to the care label with washing instructions at the inside of the garment. We recommend that you wash the garment before first use: at 30 degrees on a short program with a small amount of washing detergent. Choose an anti-wrinkle program if possible. Wash colored garments separately. To preserve the press buttons on the chef jackets, they should not be pressed in the laundry.
CARE SYMBOLS This symbol gives information about the possibility and the kind of a domestic washing process by machine or by hand. The ciphers in the washing tub specify the maximum temperature in C, which must not be exceeded.
The triangle is an indication for a bleaching process. A white triangle means any bleaching agent allowed.
This symbol specifies information on the possibility of domestic drying. The circle inside the square specifies the drying in a domestic tumble dryer. The dots within the circle in the square specify the temperature setting during drying. 1 dot: low temperature of 60 °C, 2 dots: normal temperature exhaust temperature max. 80 °C
This symbol specifies ironing or pressing. The dots within it give the maximum ironing or pressing temperatures. 1 dot: Maximum temperature of 110 °C. Steam iron may cause irreversible damage. 2 dots: Maximum temperature of 150 °C. 3 dots: Maximum temperature of 200 °C.
The circle gives information on the possibility of professional dry or wet cleaning. The letters within the circle specify the solvents that can be used. The P is used for Professional dry cleaning in tetrachloroethene.
