Process

Anthropometry Initial Exercise

To study and measure draw spaces to understand Optimum area required by a human being, Orientation, light and ventilation, circulation etc.

Composition of Square and Rectangle of around 3 x 3 or 3 x 5 units.

Aim

A

To design a house for yourself, to give spaces As you desire. The challenge was to design these spaces in 3mx3m or 3mx5m area.

Design

In order to accommodate each function some activities were overlapped, no partition was provided to use maximum oor area and visual connectivity to the outside environment.

Adding height to the 2D composition of about 3 units.

Advance Anthropometry Initial Exercise To do case studies of a performing arts Institute/place to understand the nature of the space and their area requirements. To understand the hierarchy of the functions.

The Kachchh region in Gujarat is known for the seasonal salt desert. Besides this, the region is also home to crafts such as block printing, tie-dye, weaving, and pottery. Khamir is a platform for the crafts, heritage and cultural ecology · of the Kachchh region of Gujarat. Instituted after the earthquake of 2001 Khamir is an N.G.O working with local artisans to revive these crafts which are slowly dying.

Design Studio III Place for Vendors Material Studio Aim To provide vendor friendly area in the market, which is convenient for both vendors and buyers. And can be used for recreational activities by any age group of user.

Design

Rising the plinth for vendors to sit and to display their goods. The plinth also helps for general public to stand while purchasing the items and talk with them without difculty.

Documentation : Karamsad Contextual Studio

KARAMSAD Karamsad is a city and municipality in Anand district it comes under Khandhli Panchayath. It is situated on the street highway and links the peripheral villages. It is located 6 km towards west from district head quarters Anand. The village came into settlement when the Ancestors of Lakha Patel started developing poles, Khadkis, wells at this place. The village then got spread and result in theformation of 6 Khadkis. The Patidars of Karamsad are well known in the social community of Chha gam (six villages).

JODHPUR The historic core of jodhpur is very dense historic city centre characterized by delicate urban equilibrium made of a system of residential, commercial, religious and institutional buildings. The land area today was only a small portion Marwar state before independence. When Rao Jodha established the walled city, it had four gates as time passed the city became congested within creasing population and the boundaries continued to expand Old city and has a 3 to 8 f t . Evolution Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan and it's old walled city circles around the Mehrangarh Fort. When Rao Jodha decided to shift his capital to a safer and elevated location in Jodhpur, people moved closer to the fort as well for the same purpose and gradually leading to the development of the blue city.

The architecture in response to climate is in such a way that the houses attains thermal comfort through out the year.The sloping roof, jharokhas, openings are in a way to makes the cool air come and the hot air escape.The basements of the house produce the stack effect which helps in attaining the thermal comfort

Dense Built form

Jodhour has hot and dry climate according to which the architecture is been seen. To prevent heat gain small opening are made and for and illumination and ventilation courtyards (chowks) are made. Stone Walls are made thick which prevents heat transfer. The build form here is also in dense organic cluster.

The Basic house plan is having three or four sequential rooms one behind the other . The front open space of the rural house is an important socio - cultural as well as existential space. Basements are used for storage and water collection and they also act for passive cooling in the hot summer months. Spatial organization is rather simple and linear. It shares the long walls of the sides with adjoining properties .

The Brahmpuri area, as the name suggests, is this small community the Brahmin neighbourhood Its conď€ guration is determined by the presence of a narrow Mohala of a little more than two metres, wide bordered by two rows of narrow houses with two or three storeys height The empty urban space, unbuilt is bordered by the otta, facing the houses and a neem tree at the entrance of the Mohalla.

Initial Exercise

Understanding the quality of spaces required by tourists, visitors and local people by doing case studies and taking insights from our Related Study Programme.

Raising the plinth level to keep the build above from road level and to add play fullness.

Aim

To observe the problems at the site and solve all the problems by creating areas in that way.

Design

Making spaces visually connected by playing with the level of the datum and creating pockets to create courtyard. Designing to providing a break from the outer chaos, to provide peace which is the main essence of Tourist Home Stay.

Design Studio V

Experiential School Institutional Studio Initial Exercise To know the spaces required by students in special schools/experiential school, by performing some case studies and to take insight from them.

Providing boards on the walls of Pre-primary section as kids use to draw on walls or blank spaces.

Aim

To design open and free learning space for students as our mind work better if we experience the learning than by reading creating a better learning environment.

Design

Placing furniture with educational elements on them for students to learn even while playing.

By providing each class their own open learning space, and taking a scattered form to built the masses as pupil likes to roam around ,not binding them into a closed space also using the furniture with educational element and designing the spaces having visual leaning elements in the development of program. Incorporating the running stream into the program creating a river side area.

Aim

Initial Exercise Student Housing means a residence for occupancy by groups of people not deď€ ned as a family, where such building is speciď€ cally designed for students of a college, university, trade school or nonproď€ t organization for the purpose of providing rooms for sleeping and living purposes. Common gathering spaces, kitchen, cafeteria and sanitary facilities may also be provided. Typical uses include, but are not limited to, fraternity or sorority houses, dormitories, residence halls and boarding/lodging houses.

Basic Design IV

Decoding the Nature The exercise to make us understand the role of nature in creating spaces in architecture and making us realize its importance in architecture reality.

Initial Exercise

Starting with selecting a dry branch and connecting the nodes using colorful threads forming triangles. Making a surface development model using the triangles formed by the threads. Eliminating a part of the model and converting the edges into frame. Providing light inside the model after removing a particular surface by adding a translucent plane to it. Adding a horizontal plan to create a space accessible by a human being.

Aim

Exercise aims towards the formation of spaces human friendly inspiring from the natural geometry from natural objects.

Documentation

Clock Tower Jodhpur, Rajasthan The Ghanta Ghar in Jodhpur is a magnicent clock tower in the centre of the city, built by Maharaja Sardar Singh about 200 years ago. Known as the clock tower of Rajasthan, it is a popular landmark that signies the start of Old Jodhpur. The area surrounding this imposing structure is bustling with locals presenting all sorts of products and services, making it the busiest and largest marketplace of Jodhpur. The markets and the tower are a must visit for travellers who want to witness and experience the culture and people of Jodhpur. The clock tower is surrounded by street markets, with the most famous amongst them being Sardar Market, named after the late king. One can nd a variety of people in this locality, representing all walks of life. At night, the tower comes to life when it is all lit up, making for a glorious end to a day well spent at this bountiful market. Ghanta Ghar in Jodhpur was built during the reign of Maharaja Sardar Singh (between late-19th Century and early 20th Century) as a prime landmark near the Mehrangarh Fort. The Clock was sourced from London and is believed to be bought from the company who made the Clock Tower in London. It was named after the Maharaja and since then, has been a shopper’s delight. During the time, products like spices, vegetables, clothing, tools etc. were available in the market.

Landscape Pocket Park

Thinking process

A plot area of 20m X 40m with road 6m wide running along the site. A pocket park (also known as a parkette, mini-park, vest-pocket park or vesty park) is a small park accessible to the general public. Pocket parks are frequently created on a single vacant building lot or on small, irregular pieces of land and sometimes in parking spots.
