Introduction • In this paragraph we will have a brief overview about PPSC. Firstly, The Punjab Public Service Commission was previously known as the Joint Public Service Commission. It is a constitutional body of the Punjab Government in India. The Punjab Public Service Commission was established under Article 315 of the Indian Constitution. • Secondly, it was organized to recruit officials for various departments. The recruitment is limited to the state of Punjab. Every year, it holds various competitive exams for civil services. Along with that other departmental posts under the jurisdiction of the Punjab Government are done. Thirdly and most importantly the exam is held to fill class I and II positions under the government Punjab. Every year, the PPSC issues notifications for various state government positions, as well as the State Civil Services Examination.

PPSC Exam Eligibility Criteria • EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION • The educational requirements for students attempting to sit for the PPSC Prelims and Mains are as follows: • Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree. Moreover an equivalent degree from a recognized university or institute would also suffice. • Final-year students can sit for PPSC Prelims without a degree. However, for PPSC Mains, the applicant must have graduated. • Applicants must have graduated from high school. However, Punjabi must be a compulsory or elective subject. • Moreover the applicant may also take equivalent Punjabi Language exams as specified by the government. • Most importantly there is no mention of a percentage requirement for candidates to take the exam. • Moreover, if the candidate has pursued any other education that should be mentioned provided he/she has the certificates as a proof. • NATIONALITY • To be eligible to take the exam, the applicant must be of one of the following nationalities.

A suitable candidate should be: An Indian national A Nepalese national A Bhutanese national Tibetan refugees who arrived in India prior to 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka. Moreover the residents of East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, and the United Republic of Tanzania can also appear. • AGE LIMIT • The candidate’s age should be between 21 and 37 years old, as specified by the government. • Furthermore candidates planning for the positions of Deputy Superintendent of Police must be at least 21 years old and not more than 28 years old. Same applies for the post of Deputy Superintendent Jail/District Probation Officer .

PPSC Exam Pattern • Candidates who wish to appear for the Punjab Public Service Commission must pass three stages: • PPSC Preliminary Examination • Mains Examination • Personality Test • However, PPSC Prelims are just a screening test. Prelims consist of two objective type papers of 200 marks each. Applicants who pass the Prelims exam are eligible to sit for the Mains exam. Mains is a 900mark paper. In the first place candidates need to understand that every exam is basically an elimination round. For this reason a well devised strategy and dedication are expected from the candidates. After clearing Mains, the applicant is invited to take the 150mark Personality Test. • Moreover no candidate would be allowed to appear for the interview if he or she doesn’t have a 45 percent average on all of the papers. So the candidates need to keep this particular information in their mind while sitting for any of the three stages of the exam.


PPSC Exam Admit Card • The admit card for the exam is usually released fifteen days prior to the exam. Because the PPSC Prelims was held in February this year, the admit card was released on February 3rd. Moreover those who cleared Prelims were able to download their admit card by March. Candidates can download their admit cards from the official website once they are made available.

• Furthermore it is expected that students have a printout of their admit card for future reference. In addition, if applicants discover any incorrect information in their admit, they must report it to the appropriate authority. • Moreover, if the issue is not resolved try to contact them using the toll-free numbers/emails provided on the website. In order to avoid any conflict try reaching the concerned authorities as soon as possible. • Besides this, remember to bring the admit card to the exam center with the necessary proofs and a photograph.


PPSC Exam Result • The commission announces the results of the PPSC Prelims on the official website. Shortly after the personality test is completed the final result is out. Firstly the names of students who have qualified for PPSC Mains is released. Secondly the names of the applicants eligible for Personality Test are released. Moreover these candidates will take the final round of the personality test. Lastly, comes the final list of students who have passed all the three rounds. These candidates are eligible to be appointed in various departments of the Punjab Government . Applicants should keep an eye on the official website for any updates on their results. For instance any new notification announced must be known to the candidates. • Also people who were not able to clear the exam this year, need not be demotivated. How to Check the PPSC Exam Result?

• Visit the official website at ppsc.gov.in or click here. • Scroll down to the “Announcements” section of the page. • You will be redirected to a new page if you click on the first link, “PUBLIC NOTICE REGARDING PROVISIONALLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR INTERVIEW IN PSCSCCE-2020 UPDATED ON 20-05-2020. • ” Scroll all the way down to the “Announcements” section. • Select the first link. “UPDATED 20-05-21 ROLL NUMBER WISE LIST OF PROVISIONALLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR THE INTERVIEW” • Get the pdf here. • Enter your Roll Number by pressing Ctrl+ F. • If you are chosen, your roll number will be listed on the pdf. • Candidates who passed the PPSC CCE Main Exam will now take the Interview round, which is worth 150 points. The final result will be announced based on the Mains and Interview marks after the PPSC Interview and Physical Test. The dates of the results and other details will be announced after that.

There you will find the “Apply Online” tab. Click on that tab.. • For successful registration candidates need to enter few details. Enter a valid email address and phone number. Moreover, candidates can start filling the application form after successfully registering. • Furthermore the candidates need to enter their personal information .The data includes Applicant’s name, Father’s name, Mother’s name, DOB, Gender, Marital Status, Email id, and so on. • Next, enter your address information .This includes city name , district, address, pin code. You also need to fill in your contact details. • Besides this, enter your category, qualification details. Any other information if required do mention. • The next step would be to upload the photograph and signature. After that the applicant needs to pay for the application form. • Enter a “password” of your choice. Then press the “Update” button. • Finally, double-check that all of the details are correct. As a single error will result in the cancellation of your form.

Important FAQ Q1. Is it possible for a final-year student to take the PPSC exam? In the first place candidates need to be aware that ,final-year student can only take the PPSC Prelims. However for PPSC Mains, the applicant must be a graduate from a recognised university/institute. Q2. What is the distinction between PPSC and UPSC? The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) only recruits officers for the state of Punjab. However, UPSC recruits officers from all over the country. In addition to this there is a distinction between the exam patterns of PPSC Prelims and UPSC Prelims. PPSC Prelims has no negative marking. However, UPSC Prelims has negative marking. Q3. How many people pass the PPSC Prelims exam each year? Every year, almost 13 times the number of vacancies in each category are shortlisted for the PPSC Mains exam. Q.4 Is the Punjab PCS syllabus and selection process the same as the UPSC? Yes, the syllabus and selection process for both exams are identical. However the only difference is that there are questions specific to the state of Punjab in Punjab PCS. Q.5 How should I prepare for the PPSC? For PPSC, the first step would be to thoroughly review the entire syllabus as well as the exam pattern. Your preparation would be adequate if you devise a well-thought-out study strategy. Furthermore, a large number of mock tests will be required to expedite your preparation. Q.6 How many times have one can appear for the Punjab PCS Prelims exam? The total number of attempts allowed for students in the general category is six. For backward class students its nine. For Scheduled castes the attempts are unlimited. However the number of attempts for ex-servicemen is limited to four.
