EDITOR’S NOTE

MARCH ‘To inspire and to be inspired’, a statement Bespoke considers throughout our pages. We fashion-lovers relish in the excitement of new trends and celebrity style, but can we actually adhere to the lifestyle? Not always, but what we can do is adhere to the inspiration. This is always something I think to myself when I am reading about new trends on the runway, and new products on the market… ‘Wow, I love that, but I’ll never be able to afford it’. Who cares if we can’t afford the latest Mulberry handbag, we should still be able to read about it, but in a way that we can relate to. Throughout Bespoke, we aim to inspire you with the latest designer trends through the use of visuals and humorous and informative copy. But instead of firing it out there for you never to look back, we give you the stepping-stones to achieving designer-esque style! We will give you features from people working in industry who aren’t necessarily in the limelight, this way their tips and opinions are relatable. Yes, of course I like reading advice from Beyonce, but am I ever going to be in a Beyonce-sort-of position, hopefully, but probably “Let me take a selfie!” not. Beyonce is most likely never going to see you to judge your outfit, so take the advice from the real people in the streets who pass by you everyday. Even with a little professional assistance from make-up artists and fashion bloggers to help you reach that alternative designer look. This season there is a whole new bunch of designer trends ready to spring onto the scene, including the fairytale-fad. The theme really seems to be growing throughout the minds of the top fashion designers, and its certainly sprinkling upon high-street fashion, we show you the best ways to nail this style, elegantly – without looking like a crazy Disney worshiper. We have concentrated on the loyal Glamour reader, which many of you are, and we have brought to you a bespoke edition of Glamour. Glamour, an enthusiastic fashion magazine, ideal to pick up on-the-go and roll up into your handbag. With Bespoke, we aim to please the readers who really appreciate fashion photography, engaging features, and those of you who really want to get the best out of your style. Remember the phrase ‘first they laugh, then they follow’, be ahead of the game after reading Bespoke, you’re a lion not a lamb!

nce upon a time the generic fairytale was merely a myth… but now, they are coming to life, in all aspects. With Disney remakes dominating the film world, the fairy-dust is falling onto the fashion designs for this year’s Spring/Summer collections. We can barely contain our excitement! From the fantastical films from 2014: Maleficent and Into The Woods to this years Cinderella and the recently cast Beauty and the Beast featuring Emma Watson. The magic is once again in the air, just as though we’re little girls again, so dust off those tiaras. The US premier of Cinderella took place in Los Angeles this month and Cinders herself Lily James was the star of the ball. She wore an enchanting silver and blue embellished gown by Elie Saab Haute Couture. With the voluminous skirt and sweeping train she nailed the princess look. Even lifting up her frock on the red

to

HIGH-STREET on the red carpet to reveal her dazzling transparent gem-encrusted Louboutins, got a feeling she wouldn’t leave one of those behind at the ball. The cherry on the cake was the clock clutch from designer Charlotte Olympia’s fairy tale inspired collection, and its fair to say all eyes were on Lily James. The release of Cinderella sparked Disney to approach a range of leading luxury brands to develop a collection based on the classic story. Star of The Hills Lauren Conrad has released a whimsical and romantic collection of Cinderella-esque dresses and outfits in partnership with Kohls. This all-round pretty compilation cries princess-chic, and perfects a spring wardrobe. Another of the brands Disney dusted their sparkle upon (quite literally), was Gelish. The nail extraordinaires have showcased a unique palette of six shades with crème, shimmer, and glitters that represent the love story with charm and grace. But our favourite Cinderella creation has got to be the MAC cosmetics

collection. With enough make-up shades to fill a pumpkin carriage, this array of pearlised beauty products is the glass slipper that fits everyone. With this full-face of pure princess there is no midnight curfew. Drumroll… Disney is connecting with some of the biggest names in shoe-design to reimagine the famous glass slipper, including Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo and Stuart Weitzman. The best part of this is that the miracle-shoes will be on sale for all to buy, however we don’t predict they’ll be at the tradable price of a few magic beans. At this standard it looks as though Cinderella will be running for prime minister in the next general election, she’d get our vote for sure. The spellbinding theme seems to be at large this year, with a range of capes, embellishment and layers of couture netting dominating the runway. One of which is Chanel’s new campaign Metiers d’art designed by Karl Lagerfield. It features many shapes and motifs inspired by classic folktales, giving the vibe of Scandinavian princess chic. Could they possibly be trying to channel Anna from Frozen here? Cara Devevigne features in short-film released by Chanel to promote the campaign; this in itself is a fairy tale, I mean who wouldn’t want Pharrell as their Prince Charming? Supplemented with a captivating hip-hop beat and the enchanting sound of a jewellery box, Pharrell and Cara who are both servants meet at midnight in the ballroom to dance Cinderella style. Obviously anything that involves Cara Devevigne will have a peculiar twist, which probably explains the gangsta jerkin’ as the film comes to an end, bringing the film right into the curious and youthful eye. But the wizardry doesn’t stop there; Lebanese designer Elie Saab takes a look back to his homeland to enliven his Spring/Summer Haute Couture Collection. Renowned for his red carpet flare this magical collection is inspired by Beirut’s golden age of the sixties, starring radiant sequins, lustrous silks and ruffles of feathers. Along with Chanel, Elie Saab mo nopolizes the runway bringing our Disney dress dreams to life. Although it’s not just the catwalk Elie Saab is dictating this season, he also takes the thrown of the red carpet, conquering the best-dressed list for the 2015 Oscars. Jennifer Lopez literally took the plunge and wore the unforgettable nude Elie Saab creation, which had layers of tulle, with sparkling beads falling down the plunging neckline onto the

voluminous body and great train. This dress will certainly be engraved into the Oscars red carpet history books, and at the age of 45 selfie-taking JLO still looks like a spring lamb. We wonder what housing prices are like in Neverland? Emma Stone, another best-dressed beauty graced the red carpet in a custom Elie Saab gown. The pale-green beaded dress paired perfectly with her flawless crimson bob that was elegantly pulled to one side, revealing the balletic open-back of the Saab ensemble. The red carpet also adorned the footsteps of Gwyneth Paltrow; who wore Ralph and Russo Couture in blush pink with a large flourishing rose on the shoulder. This long-sleeve fitted gown reminiscent of sleeping beauty, flaunted the stars toned physique. The actress modestly posted a photo of herself heading out captioning ‘it takes a village’, so that’s where the seven dwarfs live these days. Meanwhile, star of Gone Girl Rosamund Pike looked red-hot wearing a show-stopping Givenchy Haute Couture dress. Detailed from top to toe with red roses, it looks as though she has had a field day in the Queen of Heart’s courtyard, lets hope it won’t be ‘off with her head’ anytime soon. From high-fashion to high-street, online brand Missguided are successfully mimicking red-carpet style with their new Join the Party collection. Looking for that graduation gown that makes you look like a goddess whilst narrowly avoiding you doing a Madonna-style tumble on the stage, settle your nerves knowing its all affordable. With a variety of laces, satins, pleats and plunging necklines Missguided will grant your biggest princess wish, that’s what we love about the online fashion masters. Featuring trends like the ‘dark horse’ for your charming races ensemble, to ‘the cocktail hour’ for your fool-proof glamorous attire, whether its happy hour or not, we’ll see you at the bar. Other online brands such as Boo Hoo, and Pretty Little Thing are also creating occasion-wear sections in their catalogues, with the event season budding, the carriage awaits at your fingertips. The fairy tale theme is also entertaining the world of accessories on the high-street this Spring. River Island have a range of cable knit frill socks that scream Alice in Wonderland adventures, shoppers have been dealt a winners hand of cards with these footsies. Topshop also feature a blossoming collection of flower hair garlands, with a variety of colours, shapes, and styles to fit any festival fairy tale, paired with a cute lace dress,

denim backpack and some military boots, you’ll be the belle of the ball. So why is it we all want to relive our childhood as full grown women? We all still have our childhood hopes and dreams, so who cares if we want to flaunt a bit of bibbidi-bobbidi-boo in the meantime. Apart from crushing my hair expectations (knowing I will never be able to do an Ariel-style hair flick is just heart-breaking), Disney has inspired us, and some of the top fashion designers of this season. So embrace the fairy-dust, as it has become a style necessity for Spring 2015, giving us, the fairy tale generation the tools to reckon with. Who says we have to grow up?

What is the one wardrobe essential you cannot live without? Black leather boots!

When did you start loving fashion, and realising you had a flare for it? I’ve always adored fashion, I wouldn’t say I ever realised I had a flare for it, but more of a passion and it has been a lifelong thing. I don’t think you just wake up one day and realise you like fashion. I always dreamt of editing my own magazine as a child.

Where do you get your inspiration? Pinterest mainly or magazines, Instagram is great for inspo too.

Who was your first style icon? I would have to say Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, as a child I was obsessed with them. How would you describe your personal style? My personal style is clean and simplistic. I love playsuits, nice coats and co-ords.

Where do you shop the most and why? My favourite shop is Zara, it’s clean, minimal and everything just looks amazing. What is your favourite trend for this What season? My favourite trend for the season is knit, I am loving knit vests, knit trousers! You name it! High-street or designer? I love high street but you cannot beat designer, Burberry is my all time favourite. I walk in and I am always blown away.

What items do you have your eyes on next? I have my eyes on a beautiful Burberry bag. What is your biggest achievement since starting your blog? Winning the Cosmopolitan newcomer award and opening LVNDR accessories store! Can anyone start blogging, and how does it benefit you? I would say you have to have a passion for something and be genuine. It benefits me because I get to talk about the things I love for a living and work with likeminded people and communicate with likeminded readers.

How long have you been a MUA and when did you decide you wanted to work in the industry? I have been a makeup artist by trade for the last year and a half but I have been working on make-up counters since I was 16. What is your signature look? My signature look is a waterfall smoky eye, which is a strong smoky eye with a light reflecting pigment in the centre of the eye top and bottom. I love this look with a nude lip. Where do you get your inspiration for creating new looks? I get a lot if inspiration from make-up artists on Instagram however a lot of it nowadays is either filtered to the extreme or photo-shopped so luckily I get to work a lot with my trainers at MAC who work at LFW every year, so we get a peek into the

whole years fashion looks before they hit the streets. MAC Cosmetics have brought out a Limited Edition Cinderella Collection, have you tried this - what do you think? I was body painting in Meadowhall (shopping centre in Sheffield) the day it launched and it sold out within 14 minutes so that says it all. I loved the collection, and it was timed perfectly to go with the recreation of the film this year. The best part of it is that all the products are current colours - which is a huge bonus. What is your you favourite lip colour? My daytime lip is Etcetera lip liner mixed with Naked lip liner with Shy Girl lipstick on the top all by MAC. My nighttime lip is Nightmoth lip liner with Rihanna 2 lipgloss over the top to create a

41

gorgeous purple gun metal grey lip. What are the most common mistakes many of people make when applying make-up? The most common mistake made with makeup is the application too many women either use their fingers or a sponge and blame the make-up when it is how it is applied that is the trick. Brushes are this century’s biggest thing. What products should be staple in every girl’s make-up bag? My personal staple products that should be in every girls make-up bag are; mascara, powder and lipstick. What is the must have make-up advice you would give to any girl? MAC BB contour cream is the absolute must have in every girl’s make-up bags this year, and the bad bronzing needs to go. This is the perfect way to create gorgeous cheekbones without the hassle and worry of it going wrong, as it is so easy to use. It's great for girls like me who have to sculpt cheekbones in every day. What does a day in the life of a MUA MU entail? A daily routine of mine: Get up, VERY strong coffee, do my make-up routine, I am naughty and don’t use much skincare I am a face wipe kind of girl. I usually start at work at 11am and do

42

millions of demos and have a good laugh with my girls on counter, then go home and relax. Last week my routine was very different in Manchester, I got up and ready, went to Selfridges for 10am. I then painted pants and nipple stickers white, and painted the model top to toe in white (got in all the nooks and crannies), as a team of 3 we all worked on different sections to recreate a look from a range that MAC are bringing out called Toledo. You can find all this using the hashtag #MACTOLEDO. Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to pursue a career as a MUA? A great bit of advice I would give to someone is constantly push yourself no matter how hard something is as it only gets easier with now practice and that's all makeup is it's perfecting skills you already have. What make-up trends should we be following for Spring/Summer 2015? Lip liner is the one for this summer it is what has been on the catwalk multiple times last year and has made an appearance this year. Not just normal liner but wearing eyeliner in areas that are out there and really push the boundaries as to what products can be used as liners.
