Beautifully simple ideas

The open-plan family and dining room is an elegant and invaluable replacement for an unattractive conservatory. The architecture includes a smart chimney breast and dramatic part-vaulted ceiling, which makes the space feel established.

A coffee table from Brownrigg sits on the rug from Woven, while the armchairs are upholstered in Ottoman Stripe from Soane Britain.

An antique coffee table from Vantage Living sits on a Salvesen Graham x Jennifer Manners Original Scallop rug. Cushions from Amuse La Bouche, Matilda Goad for Anthropologie and John Lewis & Partners adorn the two sofas. The Capulet chandelier is from Pooky.

PAINT PALETTES

Give interiors a fresh new look with our curation of the latest colours

Affordable, quick and relatively easy, a lick of paint is an utterly transformative way to update a room. Though it does not have to be a lasting commitment, paint is a bold and strong way to use colour in interiors, so choosing the right shade is paramount to success. It can be overwhelming to look at the vast array of nuanced tones of each colour – how can there be so many shades of white is a question we are often asked! Yet every year another palette of colours is

launched and a new shade of green or blue tempts a fresh look at a scheme and a desire to redecorate. Here we have curated some of the most recent releases of colours, and those being highlighted by leading brands as colours of the year or palettes they are giving a renewed focus to for 2025 and the way we want to colour our homes. Perhaps these new shades will inspire a new direction, bringing refreshed vigour to a room, enveloped in a newly discovered favourite colour. 

The inspiration for Francesca Paint’s latest edit is the work of pioneering female artists from the renaissance era.

Designed to work together or stand alone, each colour has calm mood and a fresh appeal for modern schemes.

What to do in

APRIL

Introduce springtime scents to interiors, enjoy fresh new flavours and add seasonal decorative flourishes all around

GATHER friends and family

From impromptu suppers centred around seasonal flavours and easy-to-prepare meals to more celebratory occasions, now is a great time to add freshness to the table with soft neutral tones, sprigs of springtime greenery and a decorated egg as a place setting idea for an Easter lunch. Natural colours and textures work well as the base for a spring tablescape, adding rustic charm in an instant and beautifully echoing the colours of the season as twigs and branches burst into life with new shoots of growth. As an alternative to pastel shades, complement these with sophisticated shades of green and muddy taupe, with little pots of herbs or vases of fresh foliage for good measure.

Sanee table runner, £50, and napkins, £20 for a set of two; Keso woven placemats, £40 for a set of four; Osko 16-piece cutlery set, £185; Malia 12-piece dinnerware set, £225; Sigiri small wine glasses, £40 for a set of four; Gavivi mango wood cake stand, from £60 (small), all Nkuku

EASTER TREATS

Fresh greens and soft duck egg blues combined with natural linen and plenty of pretty florals create a suitable setting for a celebratory spring lunch
