IDEC Student Design Competition Challenges: -Design the patient room of the future -Two weeks to complete with your partner -Research is required Solutions:
The intent of this design is to provide a more comfortable, safe and sustainable patient room for both the patient and the hospital staff. By creating an acuity adaptable patient room the space can be quickly transformed into a specialized Cardiac Intensive Care Unit to reduce the energy of the patient and the hospital staff moving from different areas of the hospital. A therapeutic ambiance will be implemented by bringing in additional natural elements and lighting while also paired with cool and neutral colors. Sustainability is a crucial part of the design as well. Such as noise reduction, decrease in energy consumption, and streamline work flow are integrated. State of the art technology will also be included by using digitized healthcare systems in order to achieve cost efficiency, waste management, and to reduce errors.

CollaborTech DESIGN CONCEPT
HR OFFICE
MANAGER PRIVATE ENCLOSED CONFERENCE OFFICE
The goal of this design is to provide a collaborative and interactive space that promotes creative thinking and productivity throughout the office environment. This will be achieved through the use of systems furniture that allows employees to communicate easily and allows an open floor plan. Also incorporating impromptu meeting areas allows for quick decision making, sharing of ideas, and creates an informational atmosphere. To ensure that employees are stress free and focused natural lighting will also be brought into the office space by using minimal enclosed offices near the exterior walls and the use of transparent partitions. Through this design Collabortech’s mission of high speed quality work and sharing of ideas will be accomplished.
•
Provide systems furniture for flexibility to an open floor plan
•
Reduced amount of enclosed office spaces around exterior windows. So that light reaches through most of workers.
•
Implement easily movable and adjustable work surfaces

Visual and Performing Arts School Design Challenges: -Design a commercial and residential space using the existing lot located at The Square in Denton Texas. -Must be hand-drafted. - Must include hand renderings.
VPASD Second Floor: Floorplan
Solutions: The design of the building is based off of the concept of past, present, future. All three floors represent their own time frame. First floor is “past”. It’s function is to hold performances and showcases that reflect the past training and practice the youth have achieved. Second floor is “present”. The function of this floor is to reflect the present process of the children’s work through art and music. These processes are done in the art studio and the music room. The third floor is “future”. By having local artist, musicians, or actors living in this studio space the children have an understanding of their future and goals they should set. Lastly the use of timber is also an important element to the space because it represents growth which is part of the process of past, present, and future. VPASD First Floor: Floorplan
