2011 FASHION REWIND

Looking back into the year 2011, four different trends were very prominent. On the runway, many different designers such as Altuzzara presented collections of large, bulky parkas in dark hues to help keep warm during the fall and winter. Many designers also followed the hot, new trend of fur. Fur was very popular in 2011, accenting coats, jackets, sweaters, and vests. Michael Kors and Donna Karan showcased many beatiful, elegant looking furs on the 2011 fall runway.

2011 FASHION REWIND

In 2011, we saw fashion take a feminine turn. On the runway, Erdem displayed intriquite lace dresses in his fall collection, taking a leap into a more innocent and sweet direction. Diane Von Furstenberg and Marc Jacobs took a daring turn by showing sheer, flowing garments on the runway. The sheerness of the clothing shows off the womanly figure and hints at what’s underneath, intriguing and exciting the eye.

2012 FASHION REWIND

Bold, bright hues are what rocked the runways in 2012. The mixing of vibrant, vivacious colors is what many designers like Guicci and Diane Von Furstenberg displayed on the 2012 runway. These eye-catching colors make the outfits pop, and make the wearer of the clothing stand out from the crowd. Mixing complementary colors, such as the purple and green in Guicci’s design attracts the viewer even more due to the way the colors complement eachother, giving an electric feeling.

2012 FASHION REWIND

Along with the vivid, radiant colors, 2012 also offered some softer hues to its color palette. Incorporating pale shades of pink, yellow, blue, lavender, and one of the most popular of the season, mint green, designers gave the runway a light, airy feeling. These softer tones give the eye a little relaxation and not as much punch and energy as the bright hues exude. These pastels are perfect for the spring and Easter seasons. Vera Wang, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Phillip Lim showcased pastel looks in their 2012 spring collections.

2012 FASHION REWIND

2012 was also the season for floral prints. Oscar De La Renta and Erdum showcased their floral printed pieces from their 2012 collections and they were a massive hit. With inspiration from the new trend of gardening which is growing exponentially, floral prints have swam their way to the streets and are now being seen everywhere. Flowery printed garments is one of the hottest trends from 2012.
