WEDNESDAY GAMES On Wednesdays, Year 3 should come in PE kit, bringing their school uniform in their sports bags plus games kit if they have a match. Years 4-8 should come in games kit, bringing their school uniform in their sports bags.

Kingfishers Update Nursery News
We have been using our eyes to spot patterns this week. The children have noticed patterns everywhere; on our clothes, in our nursery, outside at Forest School and we even looked at animal patterns. We had a visit from the Queen of Colour who only likes colours to be displayed in repeating patterns. The children helped her organise the teddies in her bedroom, the flowers in her garden and the cups on her shelves. The children became experts at creating repeating colour patterns and the Queen was very happy. .
Literature Festival Fun Reception spent a very happy morning exploring the festival site and listening to Tracey Corderoy and Steven Lenton. They loved the stories and learning how to draw the robber dog Slippery Sam. This has inspired them to draw more and they all have their own sketch books to use at school.

Kingfishers Update Bucket Filling Over the last few weeks our boys and girls in Kingfishers have been thinking about how to be a good friend, how to listen to each other and to aspire to be like Ella our Empathetic Elephant. This week we have learned how to be a Bucketfiller by being kind to others to fill their buckets with happy thoughts. In their bookbag this weekend, the children will have a note card which they can complete and bring back to school to add to our display. Happy bucketfilling!

Lower School News Another busy week for the children of Lower School, started off with a trip to the Literature Festival. Some of the children were lucky enough to spend time with Joe Todd-Stanton and they were given the chance to develop their storywriting skills using the graphic novel approach. In the afternoon, we all went to see Steven Butler and Steven Lenton talk about their series of the ‘Nothing to See Here Hotel’- and learnt that the funniest two words in the English language are bottom and knickers – see that got your attention! On Tuesday, the Year 3s went on a trip to Pizza Express, developing their understanding of healthy eating whilst enriching their experience with food in general. It appears they had a really SLICE time, with not MUSHROOM left for the extra toppings, though the final results looked as if they KNEADED a little more time in the oven! Finally all the children were given a crash course in tag rugby in time for the House event taking place on Saturday.

Boarding House Update On Sunday the Prep Boarders headed to Clifton to join their Boarders for an afternoon of fun sports competitions. We had three teams made up of combinations of our Boarding Families, which are a mixture of ages and genders. We set off before lunch on Sunday and arrived at Clifton raring to go. The weather was great and we had a lovely afternoon playing Ultimate Frisbee, Dodgeball and Netball. It was all played in a great spirit and thank you to the Gaps and Mr Theedom for managing and encouraging the teams. We hope to see the Year 8 Clifton Boarders again when we host our second Boarders’ Superteams event in the Spring Term.

Sports News Nationals Bound U13As Congratulations to the Under 13A team that took part in the Under 13 Regional IAPS in Abingdon this week.. The girls had a fantastic day and made it all the way through to the final. They have qualified for Under 13 National Finals that are taking place at Repton School on Friday 15 November, well done

Art News Middle School Art Enthusiasts have been busy this week making ‘Stand up Scoobies’. Based on drawings they had previously done of Mr O’Sullivan’s dog, they used card to produce 3D models. Well done girls!
During the ‘Around the World’ Open Morning, Year 7 produced a large 3D map of the world. Each pupil was given a different country, they had great fun choosing the fabric that best suited their country and moulding it into the correct shape.
For all you RuPaul fans, look out for the newest character Scaredy Cat in the new season, she was once an Art Scholar here at The Prep!

Cheltenham Activity Camps are the number 1 provider of Multi-Sport & Activity Camps in Gloucestershire

And finally... Dear Parents Half term may be rushing towards us, but things remain as busy as ever here at The Prep. Probably the highlight of the week was an exceptional performance from our U13 girl’s hockey 1st VII. They went down to Millfield on Tuesday to compete in the IAPS Regional Hockey tournament. Playing against the strongest schools in the South West they performed tremendously well and qualified for the IAPS National Finals. This is a fantastic achievement for the girls - and for Mrs McNulty too. Well done all! Large numbers of children have been making the short walk to Montpellier throughout the week to take part in a variety of different Literature Festival talks and workshops. To have such an extraordinary array of literary excitement on our doorstop cannot be anything other than inspiring. For those of you free tomorrow morning two of our Year 8 children will be introducing Konnie Huq as part of her show.

Konnie is the longest serving female Blue Peter presenter and has recently written a children’s book. For those of you with longer memories she also had a brief, and not entirely successful, appearance on Blockbusters in 1992! Please come along if you can. Otherwise lots of House matches to enjoy.
