Who will perform this year? The Henry Westons Sessions at Cheltenham Jazz Festival
Henry Westons Vintage Cider, the Official Cider of Cheltenham Jazz Festival.
Curated by Cheltenham Jazz Festival, the Henry Westons Sessions are an unmissable series of intimate performances filmed backstage at the Festival and shared online. Watch the eclectic mix of established artists and emerging talent throughout the Festival at youtube.com/cheltenhamfestivals
In 1880, Henry Weston first started crafting cider from the bittersweet apples grown on his farm in Much Marcle, Herefordshire. Over many years, he refined the art of traditional cider making. Today, Henry Westons Vintage Ciders are produced only from apples grown in a single year’s harvest in the three counties of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. The cider is then slowly matured in aged oak vats to deliver a smooth and rounded cider, packed with magnificently exceptional character.

‘We love playing at Jazz It Up – such a positive experience for the students.’ Teacher Spotlight is Cheltenham Festivals’ year-round education and talent development programme. It offers a wide range of opportunities for all ages to engage with jazz as well as supporting artists throughout their musical career.
JAZZ FOR SCHOOLS Every year our Jazz for Schools programme engages hundreds of children and young people from schools across Gloucestershire and beyond. Our Concert for Schools sees 600 excited primary school children crowd into the Jazz
Arena for a lively introduction to the joy of jazz. At the same time, older students interested in the music industry can go Behind the Scenes at Friday Night Is Music Night and meet the BBC Radio 2 producer and other professionals involved in the show.
Taking the Free Stage by storm every year, Jazz It Up is an annual highlight for school and county jazz bands to perform in front of large crowds at the heart of the Festival. Come along and join the fun at the Free Stage on 4–6 May, 10.30am–1pm.
For details on how to book for Jazz for Schools, go to cheltenhamfestivals.com/jazz-for-schools

CREATING OPPORTUNITIES Beyond our extensive education outreach, Spotlight also develops the careers of emerging and established jazz artists. Some receive invaluable career advice from industry professionals through our One-to-one Clinics, while others are given a platform to introduce their music to our audiences. This year, our annual Jazz Exchange concert will welcome student musicians from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Conservatoire de Paris – two top institutions for studying jazz. The Showcase project opens doors for two emerging artists who have previously taken part in …around town by not only giving them the chance to play in our 600-seat Jazz Arena, but also offering a 6-month package of career support including a mentoring session with key music industry figures.
We have opened up more slots for exciting Support Acts to warm up the Town Hall crowds and our …around town programme invites local and national artists to play stages all across Cheltenham. Following on from the success of last year’s Hack the Jazz Festival event which explored ideas for new outdoor commissions at the Festival, we are keeping in touch with two artists from the group by supporting them with Research and Development grants to turn their ideas into future events.
‘The Festival team were willing to meet us as partners and collaborators, which is unique. When many large arts organisations are booking merely to sell tickets, Cheltenham has a very clear eye on the future and seeks to build for the long term.’ Jack Abraham, manager of Kansas Smitty’s House Band
One-to-one Clinics and the Research and Development grants are kindly supported by Keith Norton and Louise Hewett. Showcase is kindly supported by The Oldham Foundation. 9
