Welcome A warm welcome to Science for Schools 2019. We have planned four actionpacked days for primary schools, which promise to excite and inspire in equal measure. Discover exciting new areas of science as we explore how to keep our bodies and oceans healthy, celebrate the secrets of the periodic table, join the hunt for life beyond Earth and so much more. Enjoy spectacular shows, hands-on workshops and our range of interactive zones including the Discover Zone, MakerShack and Cyber Zone - back by popular demand. Whether you are bringing a few pupils or a whole year group, there is something for everyone. We look forward to seeing you in June! Have fun in a range of workshops concentrating on the science behind health and wellbeing at the Young Scientist Day. Delivered by the specialist Science, PE and Wellbeing staff at Cheltenham College Preparatory School, a day of curiosity, action and spectacle awaits! About the day We are inviting you to put forward five pupils from Year 5 and one teacher to take part in the Young Scientist Day. The day is devised with both pupils and teachers in mind. The Workshops All workshops are an in-depth exploration of the science behind health and wellbeing and specially curated for the Young Scientist Day. All activities are delivered by Cheltenham College Preparatory School’s Science teams in their dedicated science labs and sports facilities. The Power Of Food Have you ever wondered how much energy is in your breakfast? With the help of some amazing Chemistry you are going to find out! Carry out your own exciting experiments, watch milk explode, make a jelly-baby scream and use liquid nitrogen to make your own ice-cream. The Power To Go, Go, Go! Your body is a powerful machine. Work with experts to investigate how your heart and muscles work, how you can get the most out of your body and how to look after yourself so you are always ready to be your own super sports star. An action packed session with the highly trained PE staff and the chance to meet real international sports stars. The Power Within Quieten down as you learn more about how your brain works and what impact this has on your emotions. Learn new techniques to help you stay calm and relaxed, drawing on the power of mind and spirit, including yoga, massage, breathing and mindfulness.

FAQs How do I book tickets? Go to cheltenhamfestivals.com/scienceforschools and complete the booking form. Booking opens 8am on Tuesday 5 February 2019. Please be aware there will be a £5 booking fee applied to each order.
Is there a bookable lunch space? We are able to offer a covered picnic area for a limited number of pupils. Please request a reservation on your booking form and we will accommodate as many groups as we can.
What happens next? 1. We will review your booking form, and will be in touch to discuss alternative options if any of your choices are unavailable. 2. You will receive a formal booking confirmation via email. 3. Please notify us of changes to your numbers as a result of fluctuations in class size by Tuesday 30 April, and we will do our best to accommodate these changes. 4. Your school finance office will receive an invoice by Friday 10 May. It is important that this invoice is paid before you attend the festival. 5. You will receive your ticket document, a site map, and detailed information about your visit. Please ensure that every accompanying adult has a copy of these documents when attending.
