In a year when some say jazz is 100 years old, the music is as vibrant as ever. For its 22nd edition, Cheltenham Jazz Festival celebrates the past, present and future of jazz. We’ve curated a host of concerts and events to mark this centenary of the first jazz record, so look out for events with #Jazz100 badges.

We celebrate anniversaries of Dizzy, Monk, Coltrane and Ella Fitzgerald as re-imagined by Denys Baptiste, Mica Paris and Hans Koller. We also welcome some of the biggest names in jazz today including Chick Corea, Gregory Porter and Dee Dee Bridgewater, while looking to the future of jazz with leading lights Snarky Puppy and Marius Neset, to name a few. ‘Cheltenham continues to lead the way in celebrating the amazing variety of music that Jazz has to offer. It’s an absolute pleasure to bring you the best in music over these special 6 days’ Jamie Cullum Artistic Curator 3

Henry Westons Vintage Cider, the Official Cider of Cheltenham Jazz Festival.

Curated by Cheltenham Jazz Festival, the Henry Westons Sessions are an unmissable series of intimate performances filmed backstage at the Festival and shared online.

Today, Henry Westons Vintage Ciders are produced only from apples grown in a single year’s harvest in the three counties of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. The cider is then slowly matured in aged oak vats to deliver a smooth and rounded cider, packed with magnificently exceptional character.

The UK’s No.1 glass bottled apple cider*

In 1880, Henry Weston first starting crafting cider from the bittersweet apples grown on his farm in Much Marcle, Herefordshire. Over many years, he refined the art of traditional cider making.

‘A cinematic sense of space, Kenny Wheeler-like melodies over pattering electronic percussion’ (The Guardian): Monocled Man’s music has strong influences from ambient electronica but is rooted in jazz. Guest vocalists Emilia Martensson and Ed Begley join band members from Troyka, Kairos 4tet and leader Rory Simmons to bring to life music from the new album on Whirlwind Records.

Kandace Springs stunned Cheltenham audiences with her ‘intimate, low-key jazz-infused approach’ (MOJO) after opening for Jamie Cullum at last year’s Festival. The Nashville-based singer, songwriter and pianist counts Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Roberta Flack and Norah Jones among her heroes, yet her stripped-back sound on her debut Blue Note album mimics none.

Hailing from Switzerland but increasingly recognised across Europe, the power trio Schnellertollermeier doesn’t mess around. Their uncompromising attitude is right there in that deliberate tongue-twister of a name. Their mix of jazz, punk, rock and free improvised music immediately hits the bullseye, and made their latest album X (Cuneiform Records) one of the Wall Street Journal’s best albums of 2015.

Multi-instrumentalist, singer and bassist Meshell Ndegeocello delivers lush, lyrical and infectiously melodic songs driven by her signature bounce and warm, fat groove on bass. Previously she’s explored soul, R&B, jazz, hiphop, rock and spoken word while crediting bass-playing influences Sting, Jaco Pastorius and Stevie Wonder. Fans have come to expect the unexpected from Meshell.

A double bill of emerging artists, both recently featured on BBC Radio 2. British R&B and funk artist Jodie Abacus recently supported Corinne Bailey Rae and brings the zesty, post-disco feel of his single I’ll Be That Friend to the stage. Bewitching vocalist and pianist Earl was chosen by BBC Introducing to play last year’s Radio 2 Festival in Hyde Park.

Cheltenham Town Hall £26 plus transaction fee*

Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Parabola Arts Centre £14 plus transaction fee*

Blues meets gospel and soul with Eric Bibb’s versatile guitar playing and vocals, as he returns after a sell-out show in 2010. His ability to meld traditional rootsy American blues with a contemporary flavour has kept him at the top of his game in a five decade career, which has seen him release 36 albums and work alongside Ray Charles, Robert Cray and Taj Mahal.

Three musicians, each at the forefront of European jazz today, come together with highly-regarded US trumpet player Peter Evans in this band led by bassist Petter Eldh. Their music drifts between composed and free sections, with an urgent, energetic and multi-directional sound. Petter is joined by drummer Christian Lillinger and alto saxophonist Wanja Slavin, both from the burgeoning Berlin jazz scene.
